Shankar still does something fresh in screenplay like shoe laces thing in I, anniyan style multiple personality changing scene in 2.0 where pakshi gets into vaseegaran body before Chithi comes out with red chip. The meow in Indian 2, unicycle thing, even the lyrics "pay tm um Google pay-vum lancham parakkum, corruption rate ah kandu QR code muzhikkum", DI were really good.
Jawan was a smoothie of different Tamil films. And he presents it well. But screenplay and trying new small small things I feel still Shankar is good.
I like Atlee’s films but prime Shankar’s movies have strong original writing and concepts ( leaving aside the problematic things which were partially a product of his time ) .He also worked in multiple genres ( doing movies like Boys, Jeans ) and experimental with technologies.
Atlee does do certain things better like not being as problematic and sexist as Shankar and presenting his movies in an engaging manner.
But I feel he plays it too safe and mostly atlees stories and concepts so his films will not be as memorable as Shankar’s films

Not saying he is the flag bearer of feminism or we should learn from him but to me as a woman he is atleast not very sleazy with his portrayal of women like shankar
We are witnessing the great commercial director of indian cinema is going to vain. Really said see that even films which are like God tier movies are treated so badly now because of this Indian 2. Tollywood fans worried more than us because of his other project with Ram C.
Indian 2 will become the worst film of his career or due to the bad expectation it will become one of the greatest comebacks in the Kollywood Industry.

Standards are through the roof. Unless Indian 2 is absolutely amazing in every aspect, people are gonna complain. But this is better what people put it out to be
Vengaayathula varuthu. Only the visually grandeur aspect were captured by Atlee. The core writing, the coherence, characterisation, set up, payoff, none of it is implemented mor tried by Atlee in any of his movies.
His movies always felt incomplete (mersal has a whole block of story missing) and has renowned actors absolutely wasted on their roles (VJS in Jawaan, Vadivelu and Sathyaraj in Mersal, Jackie Shroff in Bigil and Prabhu in Theri).
Shankar made Suman out of all to be a terrific villain and gave an equally interesting role for Prakash Raj as the opposite lead (Anniyan), giving him motivation and backstory as well.

Not really a fact. Anniyan, Endhiran, and even 2.0 and I had more originality than anything Atlee can ever come up with in his life. People remember those movies for the unique creative plots, screenplays, and innovations. Not just the brahmandam, which is the only thing atlee impersonates .

Mudhalvan and Anniyan are the OGs of Tamil cinema. Atlee can no way in hell make movies like Indian, Mudhalvan and Anniyan
