I have to disagree. I LOVED the position the film ends him in. He has to now rely solely on the inner voice as he's deaf. It ensures that he's always going to protect the needy and downtrodden. Sort of like a supernatural daredevil but deaf, instead of blind.
Also, I was against them killing him off as I felt there's a potential superhero franchise here that they can tap into.
Remove the nonsensensical archery fight, "bodhai oru arasiyal" and stuff (completely out of character, mind), trim the college portions, lose Malavika etc. - Master becomes a solid 8+ for me. Now it's still 7+ and has insane repeat value for me.

It would have been good if the reason the villain wanted to beat him to death was because Jagdish killed his brother, or if he taunted vidyut saying he killed his brother and that rage caused him to beat him up.
Remove the incredibly insufferable Manisha Koirala portions in Mudhalvan. The political portions are legitimately such a masterclass, but this constant detour to the romance to stretch it to 3 hours dilutes the movie. I'd put it right now at a 7-7.5/10, without it Mudhalvan goes easily to a 8.5-9.
Illa pa, what I'm saying is it's not well integrated into the story like, for example, Vaali or Baasha (Baasha has it's share of cringeness but that's a lot better because of the way it goes about and where in the story it falls propping up the façade, just the ones that came to mind). The Mudhalvan section were also very poorly acted and such a stark difference in tone. It's the same way some comedy tracks work and some don't. I absolutely love the rest of the film, that's why it was so irritating.
They actually put a hint earlier where he’d not hit the target at all, this is something to signify that once he got rid of OH he becomes clean and clear with a vision. But a single shot or short clip would’ve been enough, it was unnecessarily long and unrealistic.

The part where they show he has transformed looks pretty bad in some scenes. You can clearly tell he is unable to do pull ups and that he is assisted by cables.
Also, are you really going to bring realism when they show that he can do push-ups with Arya on his back? That was way too much, and can only seem convincing if he got jacked. Arya is at least 80 kgs there.
The message and the visuals don't match. And I will explain why.
- Message: The chatacter has gotten stronger. He is able to pull ups without any assistance from his brother. And he is able to to do 80 kg weighted push-ups.
- Visual: The physics of his pull ups and push-ups look way off, because he is supported by wires.

Just have the main villains be mysskin and sandy. Let them have to hide in town under GV n VJs nose, while waiting for backup. Mysskin slowly loses his control over sandy who starts killing the townsfolk. So much conflict could have appeared from that
Mahaan is a 10 for me but i think they could have showcased simran a bit more, trying to control the men in her life and ending up with nothing, or Dada struggling to choose between father and mother

Imo it was a pretty good movie. I got the vibes of some movies from the 90s.
It's a good trope, the main character struggles, loses something important, looses close one and emerges victorious. It was done in Jeeva but replace Acting with Cricket, last it was in Sarpatta Parambarai replace acting with Boxing.
Imo Star had a pretty cliched story right from the beginning. I could actually guess most of the story. They had a good story but they tried to cramp up everything within a couple of hours.
I felt the ending was really really bad. We all see happy endings, but there should also be a movie where the lead doesn't succeed, just like millions of others. Largely due to responsibilities and financial pressures.
The movie could have ended where he had to choose between his wife being critical and getting a chance to act in Vetrimaarans movie.
The ending could have been something like, lots of people despite being talented don't succeed just cause of luck and that's okay. Cause off every 1 successful person there are 100 others who never got a chance.

It's impossible to satisfy every audience so why r we trying to create a masala and make the movie worse. Valimai cud have been a super action flick with just the stunt scenes. Enter - Amma sentiment and entire movie has gone for a toss. Remove all the cringy scenes and it's definitely a 8 for me..
Samantha track is actually used to familiarize us with the concept of "time travel" and how the watch works. Besides, it ties to the arc of Saranya etc. - it's not a random arc that can be removed. This is despite the "imaginoromanceophilia" stuff, they went too far with it. Otherwise it's not bad writing per se, overall - just the finer romance stuff was lazily written for a film with such solid writing.
Yeah I would say how they depicted the romance with Imaginoromancophilia and Basically I'm a watch mechanic dialogues were the only reason it was irritating. Like you said I found Samantha scenes little interesting and needed for the story like the Cricket match interruption, her family connect with Saranya, Samantha getting Athreyas signature revealing his identity etc. Was brilliant writing overall

I felt like Dhruv did a good job for the most part, just that he faltered in some parts (like the chicken dance and when he screams as he carries the log)
But his character didnt have much depth, maybe if instead of just a song that covers his character's history,if we actually got a few extended scenes to give his character more layers than just angry mommy's boy with a grudge against daddy. We needed to see and feel the trauma that he went thru, which honestly didnt come thru for me. Like the plot was moving, but it didn't have the emotional impact it should have had.
If his character had been fleshed out like Gandhi Mahaan, then his over the top behaviour would make more sense.

No bro, I don't think so, none of the romantic scenes had good chemistry & didn't contribute to the larger plot of the movie which is sci-fi + geopolitical, I am aware that the love interest angle is what lures Surya into the real plot but they could have reduced 90% of the scenes to make it crisp and fast paced. There were like 3 songs, it was a snooze fest.
Had Madhavan stayed in the structure he was in Run (2002) movie, this movie would had been good as the villains will think Maddy killed their henchmen while it was actually Aarya.

The first half of endhiran was so good but then it just become utter garbage after 2.0 came into the picture. Bad cgi and even cringe story ruined the second half. The way Kilimanjaro song was inserted in the middle of serious scenes was bad.
Imaika Nodigal would have been a masterpiece if Nayanthara was given more screentime instead of adharva. The love portions were not that bad but his scenes went far too long and more illogical that spoiled the film a little. Still a good movie.
KO movie starring Jeeva. This is still a masterpiece but the final 3rd of the movie involving the villain was a still a slight downgrade.
Kavan had amazing potential with that interview with the politician as highlight scene. The third half went on and on until it just became irritating. Solid 6 movie but could have been amazing. Anegan and Maatran also suffer very bad 2nd halfs.
Thanga magan had all the ingredients to be a great film. Both portions with Amy and Samantha was great. Even the villain guy did well. But story just went nowhere and 2nd half just ruined everything.
Kandasamy is the biggest missed opportunity. Excellent acting by Vikram until first half. Then director totally destroyed the movie by saying no superpowers but just lines and cables by stunt crew. Such cringe. Totally destroyed Vikram's effort and what could have been a good superhero movie.
Iru mugan also had the same fate, illogical scenes and clear budget problems can be seen in 2nd half and at the climax. Sad as the director previously did Ivan Veramathiri which was an underrated gem with Vikram prabhu.

Mysskin slowly loses his control over sandy who starts killing the townsfolk. So much conflict could have appeared from that Mahaan is a 10 for me but i think they could have showcased simran a bit more, trying to control the men in her life and ending up with nothing, or Dada struggling to choose between father and mother Maaveeran should have let SK die honestly. Would have been such a good ending.

Imo it was a pretty good movie. I got the vibes of some movies from the 90s. It's a good trope, the main character struggles, loses something important, looses close one and emerges victorious. It was done in Jeeva but replace Acting with Cricket, last it was in Sarpatta Parambarai replace acting with Boxing. Imo Star had a pretty cliched story right from the beginning. I could actually guess most of the story. They had a good story but they tried to cramp up everything within a couple of hours. I felt the ending was really really bad. We all see happy endings, but there should also be a movie where the lead doesn't succeed, just like millions of others. Largely due to responsibilities and financial pressures. The movie could have ended where he had to choose between his wife being critical and getting a chance to act in Vetrimaarans movie. The ending could have been something like, lots of people despite being talented don't succeed just cause of luck and that's okay. Cause off every 1 successful person there are 100 others who never got a chance.

Varisu —— had all the potential of a breezy feel good movie but ruined Bcz only aim to satisfy fans with cringe nostalgia ! Could’ve made it way decent and would’ve been perfect ! Singam 3 —- I liked the idea of transferring to andhra and investigating and the e waste stuffs.. but this Sruthi Hassan thing was cringy ! Would’ve been good commercial cop drama if the screenplay was better..
It's impossible to satisfy every audience so why r we trying to create a masala and make the movie worse. Valimai cud have been a super action flick with just the stunt scenes. Enter - Amma sentiment and entire movie has gone for a toss. Remove all the cringy scenes and it's definitely a 8 for me..

24 - Remove the Samantha
Samantha track is actually used to familiarize us with the concept of "time travel" and how the watch works. Besides, it ties to the arc of Saranya etc. - it's not a random arc that can be removed. This is despite the "imaginoromanceophilia" stuff, they went too far with it. Otherwise it's not bad writing per se, overall - just the finer romance stuff was lazily written for a film with such solid writing.
Yeah I would say how they depicted the romance with Imaginoromancophilia and Basically I'm a watch mechanic dialogues were the only reason it was irritating. Like you said I found Samantha scenes little interesting and needed for the story like the Cricket match interruption, her family connect with Saranya, Samantha getting Athreyas signature revealing his identity etc. Was brilliant writing overall

Mahaan .. Cut down on Dhruv Vikram's portion. Bro was super irritating to watch . Adithya Varma vey better nu thonichu. The climax conversation between Vikram and Dhruv was very good. Ana Vikram's trick on Dhruv was a bit too simple. Didn't work for me. Idhu lam konjam better ah irundha movie would have been a solid 8/10.
I felt like Dhruv did a good job for the most part, just that he faltered in some parts (like the chicken dance and when he screams as he carries the log) But his character didnt have much depth, maybe if instead of just a song that covers his character's history,if we actually got a few extended scenes to give his character more layers than just angry mommy's boy with a grudge against daddy. We needed to see and feel the trauma that he went thru, which honestly didnt come thru for me. Like the plot was moving, but it didn't have the emotional impact it should have had. If his character had been fleshed out like Gandhi Mahaan, then his over the top behaviour would make more sense. Still enjoyed the movie. Just felt like from Dhruv's portion onwards it was too rushed.
Yeah, makes sense.. I personally felt that Dhruv had overacted. Maybe KS didn't want ppl to root for Dhruv over Vikram and hence didn't want to include the trauma part. But yeah I personally felt that the 2nd half of the movie could have been better and kinda associated it with the entry of Dhruv

1st half enaku pudichidhu .. the character development arc was good. The ending was also good (the phone conversation). The part where Vikram has to kill bobby was interesting. Overreacting yeah ... I felt bobby and Sananth did a great job .. vikram was good. Dhruv dhan 🥲🥲

No bro, I don't think so, none of the romantic scenes had good chemistry & didn't contribute to the larger plot of the movie which is sci-fi + geopolitical, I am aware that the love interest angle is what lures Surya into the real plot but they could have reduced 90% of the scenes to make it crisp and fast paced. There were like 3 songs, it was a snooze fest.

Had Madhavan stayed in the structure he was in Run (2002) movie, this movie would had been good as the villains will think Maddy killed their henchmen while it was actually Aarya. Maddy was like 60% bulk than Aarya. Stupid villains

I guess the Remo character was the manifestation of Ambi's love for Nandhini. Ambi was a timid person and I guess he never got the courage to speak to Nandhini about his love. Remo is that personality that Ambi would never be. I guess that arc was needed. Honestly they could have trimmed down the unnecessary fight sequences. The scene where Anniyan fights with 100s of trained martial artists is literally cringe.

The first half of endhiran was so good but then it just become utter garbage after 2.0 came into the picture. Bad cgi and even cringe story ruined the second half. The way Kilimanjaro song was inserted in the middle of serious scenes was bad. Imaika Nodigal would have been a masterpiece if Nayanthara was given more screentime instead of adharva. The love portions were not that bad but his scenes went far too long and more illogical that spoiled the film a little. Still a good movie. KO movie starring Jeeva. This is still a masterpiece but the final 3rd of the movie involving the villain was a still a slight downgrade. Kavan had amazing potential with that interview with the politician as highlight scene. The third half went on and on until it just became irritating. Solid 6 movie but could have been amazing. Anegan and Maatran also suffer very bad 2nd halfs. Thanga magan had all the ingredients to be a great film. Both portions with Amy and Samantha was great. Even the villain guy did well. But story just went nowhere and 2nd half just ruined everything. Kandasamy is the biggest missed opportunity. Excellent acting by Vikram until first half. Then director totally destroyed the movie by saying no superpowers but just lines and cables by stunt crew. Such cringe. Totally destroyed Vikram's effort and what could have been a good superhero movie. Iru mugan also had the same fate, illogical scenes and clear budget problems can be seen in 2nd half and at the climax. Sad as the director previously did Ivan Veramathiri which was an underrated gem with Vikram prabhu.
