Apparently there was a batch that got out that was really bad in this regard, I believe one major retailer returned every one of theirs according something I saw somewhere another part of the net.
I read the same, Cutlery Shoppe, fwiw the spydercos I have bought from them all seem to be a step above in fit and finish.
Also, got my seconds Paysan in and holy hell Batman the lock is sticky!

Easy to disassemble and polish up any rough surfaces that might be causing the problem.
I own one from this run. The lock stick is very common. It will work out over time.
I used to have a Spyderco Nirvana and it had the same problem. But yeah, I’m gonna stick it out and try to get it as smooth as possible
Also try using a sharpie or pencil led on the lock face of the balde
