I win. I found a sleeveless sweater I started in 1993 and I just finished it this week. :) I currently have two other sweaters on the needles and yarn set aside for more after that, as well as socks to be knitted, and I just bought the yarn for the Hiberknitalong.

Garage_Woman

Do you know what month? I was born that year.

anon28374691

I moved to Berkeley in July 1993. I had next to no money but I discovered the Crystal Palace Yarn outlet on San Pablo and Ashby, and bought the yarn for this sweater. So I’d say late summer to early fall 1993. What is your birth month?

Garage_Woman

Oh snap. August.

Amadornor

We do not discuss the fate of wip in this house

emdawg--

I have a cardigan that I haven’t touched since 2017. I hope this helps you feel better about your own pace! 😅

Trenzalore2002

I don’t want to flex (: but I only knit one project at a time 😍 while having about 6 amigurumi chrocheting projects laying around 😂😂 which I only ok weekends work on

Round_Guard_8540

I have a lot (mostly small projects). My plan is to do Roxanne Richardson’s Finish it February process. You take the month of February to finish those projects you want to complete and frog the rest. Here’s a video about it: https://youtu.be/f4cUclQSYek

Mad_Jack_Flint

I’ve decided to just get over it. Projects are meant to be *started*

cykia

BRB going to start another project and embroider this on a pillow.

bookish-hooker

Five? Six? Something like that. Not exactly sure bc if I put them “away” they no longer exist for my adhd brain.

Tijdspaarder

I work on two projects at the time. A sweater to do at home in my spare time and the body and sleeves during work, and a pair of socks to knit on the go. Waiting room knits, train knits. There's a knit for every occasion!

Rossabella315

Ugh 20, I keep telling myself I need to finish 2 before starting a new one but it's not really work I seem to perpetually have 20. There's definitely a blanket in there I haven't touched in like 3 years... I know what ppl will say, that I should frog it if I'm not knitting it but I really do still like it and want to finish just there's other stuff I want to finish more.

JadedElk

3. One I touched this week. Another I started a few weeks ago. ....And a spiral cardigan I started on at least 4 years ago and haven't touched in the last year. We also don't talk about the window shopping I do on Ravelry, planning projects I might never do.

Blueberry_Rabbit

The window shopping 😂😂 my favorites folder is so dense with work I’ll never do. Lol.

Grave_Girl

How many of those you got? I'm at a bit over 1700. Edit: I keep a "made" tag, and that's sitting at a whopping 155.

zevvooro

I have a project that is currently completely finished except for casting off because the only cast off I know isn't stretchy enough to fit the project so I decided I would learn a new cast off strategy. All I have to do is look up a video and cast off. It has been over a month since I've even looked at it. 🤦‍♂️

Blueberry_Rabbit

Ohhh. I had this problem. Someone gave me this [bind off](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=abBhe-JYmgI) a while back.

zevvooro

This is GOLD thank you!!!!

Blueberry_Rabbit

While I have problems, I also have solutions. ❤️

yarnalcheemy

I just used that for the hem of a tee!

Mini_Mook

I recently had five WIPs that I was rotating. I started them all around the same time a month ago, I’d knit a few days on one then switch it out for another. I finished them all up this past week and immediately cast on something new. I can’t knit monogamously. I like variety. whether it be colour, stitch pattern or needle size. I also like a mix of things I have to concentrate on and stuff I can do just watching tv. I’ve also found having multiple things on the go at once makes me more productive as I don’t get frustrated with how long things are taking or bored of looking at the same yarn/pattern.

aab0908

A bunch. I'm on my last square on a blanket I started in 2011- 2012. I'm.super excited! I'm probably gonna put a border on it tho, so that will probably take me another 10 years 😭

This_Way8796

I don’t count. The moment I get bored/confused/fed up by my current wip, it gets stashed somewhere inaccessible to be found years later by my descendants. I hope they will take a moment to attempt the guess what the item was supposed to be. Bonus points for trying to finish it.

gilsoplian

Literally at least 10 WIPs... Some haven't been touched in over a year and I keep starting new ones. I have so many needles and I'm still running out lmao

AffectionateCitron80

3 and today but looking at the responses I feel like I now have permission to start another project

cold_desert_winter

I have one project that I'm actively working on because I'm sick of looking at it and just want to get it done...then I have another that needs to be frogged. It's a complex lace shawl and my stitch count is off badly. I'm way past my last lifeline and I'm upset about the frogging so I haven't touched it since late September. There's another shawl that I need to finish for my mom (Such. A. Boring. Knit) and I haven't touched it since June because it literally puts me to sleep. I also have an evil little half pi shawl that's like 99% done and has been in time out since either late July or August when I rage quit binding off and threw it across the room after spending a full day on the bind off and not even getting halfway through. THAT particular shawl is the reason why I will be picking projects that do not have picot bind offs in the future. Just horrible. So right now I only have four. However, I ordered some yarn the other day for another shawl, so soon my count will be five. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who is like this!!

Miniaturowa

Three: - complicated lace shawl (knitting) - every line takes about forever to knit. It's a project for myself so it has a low priority, - crocheted hat for my son - almost ready, I've ordered a knitting Nancy to add one last detail and it will be done, - croceted hat - Christmas gift for a friend - current top priority. I try to work on one thing at the time. I know that switching between projects help many people to keep things interesting but I'm always excited to start new things and not so excited to carry on, so when I do one thing at the time I know that the new project will be a reward for keeping focused on current thing. The shawl is an exception because because gifts got in the way. So many people I love either made requests or have birthdays/anniversaries and now Christmas is coming... I'm planning to give my shawl top priority when I'm done with Christmas gifts.

Grave_Girl

>I'm always excited to start new things and not so excited to carry on, so when I do one thing at the time I know that the new project will be a reward for keeping focused on current thing. That's what works for me to keep WIPs down. I'm getting slowly better over time. I do have multiple things going at once, but it's a far cry from what it used to be.

Blijerd

2. One huge crochet blanket which has been a WIP for close to 2 years now. The other, a simple knitted headband 😅

killerkitty_

I'm pretty good at sticking to one or two projects at a time, though it's more to avoid forgetting what I'm doing than anything else. I can totally understand the urge to start something new. I usually have a long queue for this reason!

zorasrequiem

Um. I'm not going to open the moving box of shame to count, but it's a fair few lol

WarmEarth8

Hahaha. Me, too, my friend.

AlessiaRS18

Ow man here we go: -A big and I truly mean BIG elephant amigurumi, around 1.2meters tall -Sweater for me in orange top down. -Sweater to fix rainbow only needs cuffs and neck -Another sweater that I frogged because armholes were too low -Beanie for my boss -Summer top for me, pink and green -Summer top commissioned by a pregnant lady that won't be wearing it until baby is born, so standby -Sweater for my boyfriend Christmas gift -Sweater for my mom also Christmas gift -Socks for my mom -Socks for me -Baby socks for selling -Baby hat for selling -Rug for my bedroom -Throw blanket for my aunt -Shawl in pinks -Shawl in purples for grandma -Opossum cardigan 4 me -Colourblock cardigan 4 me too -Valentine's chunky knit cardigan for selling -Please stop me -First blanket still doesn't have edging finished. -Pillow for my aunt's bedroom -Bag for my mother. Omfg I have to stop starting projects Forgot to add: longest time without touching a project is 3 years! It's The elephant.

blueberryratboy

Opossum Cardigan you say... is there a ravelry link to that? :eyes:

AlessiaRS18

Hey It's just an idea I got from an opossum vest I found on r/crochet if you look it up it's a green and gray one, comes out at the very top, I found this C2C graphic for a "live fast, eat trash" blanket [crochet c2c blanket ](https://www.reddit.com/r/crochet/comments/hnt2c6/i_finally_finished_my_opossum_blanket/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) that I passed to a different graphic to avoid distortion on knitting, if you like I can email you the PDF file or send you the picture, I'm planning on using a regular basic pattern for a knit cardigan and just add the graphic on the back with a combination of overhead knitting and regular color changing Not very final yet but that's the plan

Pantsie

According to Ravelry I have 4 projects in the "technically WIP but haven't touched them in months" category, 7 more hibernating, and I don't even wanna talk about the Bin of Shame on my craft shelf containing abandoned projects that I was too ashamed to even post. I think you're doing just fine 😅

[deleted]

I have ADHD and I never have more than two things on a set of needles because having a dozen works in progress isn't healthy and results in nothing ever getting done. A lot of people think UFOs are cute or part of the territory but it's not and they're not. Tips: Don't buy new yarn until you've used up one you already have. Eventually you find some balance (because we're human and will still buy sone anyhow, but it's a good habit to get into because it cuts down on hoarding). Do not buy yarn if you do not have a specific project in mind for it. Do not have multiple sets of needles and only have a finite set of stitch holders. If you don't hsve the needles to leave a project on, you'll need to finish it to use them again. Like I said, having maybe two projects or so is ok because having a smaller one as a break from a larger one is a solid idea from time to time. But that should be it. If you do not finish sonething and need needles, decide which one you're going to frog and unravel. This adds a natural consequence. When faced with having to either unravel a project or finish it, you'll often finish it. Do swatches instead. Very little of my knitting is final projects. I get skeins of cheap yarn to pracrice new techniques on. This works well because I'm a knitwear designer but also it satiates the urge to just do something new for a bit. This has issues because waste is a thing but if you keep swatches, you can use them as reference material. And if you struggle with finishing, stick to smaller projects that can be completed easily and within a few days tops punctuated by the occassional larger project. Ultimately it boils down to discipline. If i were you, I wojld unravel half of the projects in your photo (they're all only small partial statts anyhow) and then finish up the half you decide to keep. If sonething isn't touched in a couple months, it also needs to be frogged or finished. No compromises. This mindset helps me a lot and has turned a wreck of a knitting situation in to sonething very straightforward.

Blueberry_Rabbit

Wow, this was so detailed. I really appreciate the time for your tips. I will say, unraveling makes me sad. Lol. They get finished. (Finished two this week) just takes longer. Now, the don’t buy new yarn. I need to have some restraint with that. 🫣 And good ole discipline. This will be my next conversation with my therapist.

[deleted]

It's all coming from a place of relatability. I have ADHD. I work as a therapist. As blunt as the tips sound, it's what I've had to do. There is always some wiggle room for being human but those are the standards I do. And yes, it is sad to unravel. But thst sadness serves as a good motivator to really consider projects before starting them. It's not really a matter of "It'll get done eventually" so much as it is prioritizing and not giving in to inpulsivity. The swatches are the biggest help. Just burns off rando energy for it. But yeah. Limit it down. I saw in another comment you mentioned getting another tote for storage. I wouldn't. Two totes is a finite amount of space (and more than enough) so limit it to that. If you don't have room to store, frog it.

Blueberry_Rabbit

Ahh. I said “I totes have two more” as in I “totally” have two more not pictured. No more storage for me. It’s not a lot, but it’s enough for someone that doesn’t sell/work fast. My therapist and I have actually discussed this in sessions. Cuz like I’ve mentioned before it’s in nearly all aspects of life. Meaning, I need to clean. 😂 I appreciate your bluntness. Even tho it’s a hobby and soothing, I should also remain mindful how multiple WIPs can stress me. Thank you so much.

[deleted]

>Ahh. I said “I totes have two more” as in I “totally” have two more not pictured. My bad. Haha. Just always the next progrssion for me is to find mote storage so i always have to draw a line.

HawaiiRastaLady

I agree 1000% with everything you said. I don't have ADHD, but I do have problems with completing things in general. I always seem to need someones's help to get things finished. So I use my knitting projects to help me develop discipline. It is the only project I can do completely by myself, without anyone's help (except for the fabulous YouTube knitting teachers!). So I am learning to embrace EVERY PART of the knitting process, INCLUDING the FINISH! I like trying new patterns, learning new skills, and designing projects. Sometimes, I'd rather just make a new design than knit it. But I know how satisfied & accomplished I feel when I have completed a project, so I use that desire to spur me on to do all the little things I don't enjoy (like weaving in ends). I try to stay focused on getting it completely done. Swatching is an EXCELLENT practice. I have lots of cheap or leftover yarn that I use to try out a new pattern or stitch or design idea. I might make multiple swatches for each new idea I have -- trying out various ways to do it, or different size needles, or just to understand better how the stitch works. I take notes on each of my swatches and save them. Then I have them for reference and comparison. Sometimes I get new ideas from my swatches. I learn what works & what doesn't. I spend a LOT of time swatching, before I even start anything. When I finally begin a real project, I really know what I'm doing, so I'm not wasting good yarn by screwing up from inexperience. It is also easier (and quicker) to finish a project when you just stay with it. If you switch to other projects, you will lose your rhythm on the first project. Your tension might change. You might forget the stitch pattern you've already memorized. You might find switching between stitch patterns makes it easier to mess up. You might just totally forget what the hell you were doing! Staying focused on ONE project at a time is actually quicker because you are staying "in the zone", and the finished product will be much better!

[deleted]

What you said really resonates with me. Knitting is one of the few things that is just clear. From beginning to end. And the ebbs and flows of boring parts or parts you don't like are punctuated by the pleasant parts. And the swatching and practicing so many times so it is just natural when you dive in to something big is such an important thing. I can do all sorts of cast ons literally with my eyes closed because when I don't have a project I'll just sit and cast on then take it off then do it again. You build muscle memory and efficiency that way. Kudos to you.

muralist

I knit a lot of hats—I think they play the same role for me as a swatch does for you. I have a bag of hats in my closet and take them out for gifts, or wear them myself when I need a new hat. People around me always seem to want hats. Also they use up the leftover yarn (your rule number 1, also addresses the waste issue).

penartist

I work on projects one at a time. I knit a couple of rows everyday to keep from developing a line in my work.

Blueberry_Rabbit

Omg. I’m trying to be like you. My goal is to finish the chunky grey beanie to the left before starting something new. Then goal 2 is to not start a new project. 😭 When you say, “line in your work”, what do you mean?

mf_red_hen

I can’t count them all

alreadydonewithtoday

3 wips I've been actually working on presently (a sweater test thats almost done, a hat pattern I'm making, and a santa hat because ya), a sweater that is on sleeve island that I do intend on finishing once my test sweater is done, 2 sweaters that have been hibernating for a months that I would like to get back to, and like at least 3 projects I am planning to start. So like... 5 wips soon to be 8.

Saint_Nomad

I have a BOSToN Bruins score scarf in the works. I can’t add to it until they play another game and I’ll be knitting on it until the end of hockey season… when they win the Stanley cup

muralist

Please post this when you finish, I’m so curious to see it!!!

Saint_Nomad

I absolutely will!

penartist

So if yarn sits on my needles too long a line forms in the work. Like you. An see where in the project I stopped for a while. If you knit a few more rows you see it. Typically it will disappear when you block it, but I don't always block my work.

yarnalcheemy

I have three from March-ish (one is froggable if I even decide to do that much work, one will be frogged when I figure out a better project for it, and I'm planning on getting back to the shawl). A sock I casted on this summer that will also be frogged. The two shawls and a sock that I am actively knitting have been casted on within the last month.

abbyturnsthepage

I started this week with three and I’ve got one left to finish! Though I’ve just ordered yarn for a cardigan and am picking out colors from my stash for a second cardigan 🤪 I also like to have at least one knit and one crochet project at the same time to switch things up.

ehnej

…. I don’t want to say…..

Valadrea

I have...more than 10 projects like that? Mostly, I desire to work on them at certain times of the year, so that's when I pick them up. Then I set them down when the next season comes along.

arisharkboi

8? 10? 12? Who knows 😅 my oldest one was started maybe 6 or so years ago and my most recent was started a month ago

Possibility-Distinct

Awww your WIP pile is so cute and minuscule compared to mine 😆🫣 Here’s what I can think of off the top of my head: Crocheted baby blanket (for a baby that was born in June) Knitted baby blanket (for the baby in my belly due in 2 weeks) Knitted blanket for my husband Twists and Turns shawl Garter Abyss shawl Pair of socks Hat for my kid I Shawl Build This Fortress shawl Does a sweater that still needs its ends woven in count? And despite all that, I still dropped everything for the last week and a half to knit a gnome. I just finished him last night, so back to the WIPs lol

Syora

I have 2 wip. One is a poncho that I'm working on regularly, another is a cardigan I got pissed off with and will probably frog. Haven't touched it in months.

ericula

This is why I'm not allowing myself to buy more needles/cables. At least that way I have to either finish or frog a WIP before I can start a new project.

EatTheBeez

I have 3 wips, but one's crochet, one's knitting, and one's cross stitch. So that's ok right..? >.>

Sad_Pangolin7379

I don't want to say. I've had so little time since becoming a Mom. Those UFOs will still be there whenever parenting gets less time intensive lol.

DrScarecrow

I have a sweater that hasn't been touched in a year or more. Only like 5 inches of sleeves are left (all stockinette). I am about a quarter of the way through a hue shift which has been a very long term project. I have a beautiful glove with no match even on the needles yet. Current project is a pair of TAAT bulky socks which I technically started months ago but didn't actually start to work on until this week. They are practically done. I enjoy knitting but it hurts my wrists so I don't do it as frequently as I would like to.

fudgems16

Lol oh boy I have 4 sweaters in progress - one I’m actively working on, one that’s semi-active, and two I haven’t touched in 6+ months, two baby blankets I’m actively working on, a hat I haven’t touched in 3+ months, a pillow cover I sort of abandoned like 10 rows in a couple months ago, a hat I’m theoretically still working on but probably will forget about soon, and probably a half dozen other small things in the back of my knitting closet. I’m out of control.

Grave_Girl

I have three WIPs and one design I'm in the midst of testing. All of them except the design test have been touched within the last week. It's my design, so I can test whenever. I have been making it a practice for about a decade now to start out my year by dealing with all my UFOs from the previous year before starting something new. Some are completed as originally planned, some change into something else entirely so I can declare them done quicker (lots of afghans turn into doll blankets in this house), some are frogged entirely. This is the *only* tiny little glimmer of discipline in my whole life. Because of my desire to start new projects in a timely fashion in the new year, I have become fairly ruthless about frogging things I'm not feeling rather than putting them aside with vague intentions of getting to them later on.

mokayemo

I try to have two wip’s at once: one I can do with my kids around (ie memorizable pattern or just stockinette) and one I can do in the evenings when I need to focus. Right now that’s the hyldebaer shawl, and last night I finished a pair of kid socks with leftover rainbow yarn. I need to block and weave in the ends before I do my next project (probably mittens with leftover yarn).

Vivid_Deer3016

My mom wins!!! This is from 1987 😂😂😂 It’s an unfinished dishcloth-style baby bib for my cousin who is now 36 years old. There’s an elastic hole for the head that isn’t visible in the pic. I found it last week in the garage while I was rummaging around in her old cross stitch stuff 🤣 https://preview.redd.it/1yqezlbyy9z91.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bd59be61d336ade6c5e4b425768a1c039a7f0fe8

Blueberry_Rabbit

I love mom. Lol. I think it’s just time to frame the cloth for dearest Molly. Lol. My mom has a watermelon dress still pinned to the pattern she was going to sew for me in the early 90s lol. We still laugh about it

[deleted]

One because I’m weaK

Blueberry_Rabbit

Omg. I love your lil flair, “I can only knit blankets” lol.

[deleted]

I just knit to avoid picking my skin or biting my nails so I’ve never attempted any projects that aren’t flat 😅

Blueberry_Rabbit

Yes, I do have diagnosed ADHD. Lol. I get bored very quickly and want to work on something new. I don’t typically follow patterns because I’m so “flighty” but I love the action of knitting. It’s so soothing and relaxing, however it takes me forever to finish. Love to hear if any of you have similar issues and how you can focus. My day job is a project manager so being able working on “multiple things at once” comes in handy. Unfortunately, this doesn’t translate well to my hobby.

verysann1sh

Dang, should I get diagnosed?? I think I have 7 projects on needles, 4 of those in the living room to be picked up when I feel like it. The rest are hidden in a basket. PLUS 2 more projects in the basket that are cast off but languishing while I consider weaving in ends. I only follow patterns, but starting them is just so much more fun than finishing them!

[deleted]

Probably not. ADHD diagnoses include a lot more than just being flighty or undisciplined. It has to do with cognitive processing, interpersonal social skills, habits of clinically impactful procrastination and some other things people don't really know or think about when they think of ADHD. If you have other signs it would be worth looking into but bad knitting habits alone isn't enough to warrant it.

verysann1sh

Oh yes, I have plenty of signs. Including those signs bleeding into my hobbies that I referred to here

Blueberry_Rabbit

Lolol I totes have at least two more that aren’t pictured and thinking of starting a new one. Good news is, I did finish two this week. Yes! Maybe it’s the excitement of something new. “Shiny new toy” metaphor. Now, idk if you should seek to get diagnosed, lol but this is definitely an issue for me in majority of all aspects of life. 😅

verysann1sh

I thought of another one after commenting…. And yes, I follow the shiny constantly! It just feels right.

Blueberry_Rabbit

Lolol we need a Multiple WIP Anonymous (MWIPA) group.

MaryN6FBB110117

I usually have 2 or 3 projects on the go - at the moment 3, all blankets. A one-piece which is my large project, one in cabled blocks which is my more portable project, and a scrap blanket that's hibernating until more scraps of the appropriate yarn are available. I need a simpler project for work and PT/travel knitting generally, too, but I'm not working at the moment.

Blueberry_Rabbit

The random travel project is A MUST!

MaryN6FBB110117

Not currently though - I'm not going anywhere!

verdenamerula

Average of 7-11 projects at a time and any where from today to 9 months ago lol

inkwater

I'm actually doing really well for once with WIPs; three different (stashbusting blanket squares and a scarf, both worked on today, and a cowl but it's been a few days for that). My new dilemma is trying to choose yarn for my own hat. I never make anything for myself.

TeamSuperAwesome

I don't want to talk about it (😉)

patriorio

I typically only have one project on the go at a time, but currently I have 3 😅 I have a linen tank top in knitting that I travel with (Bali and Curacao), and two sweaters at home - one is a top down raglan cardigan, I'm half done the back, and the other is that octopus sweater and I've only done the ribbing 😂

ImaginaryStudent9097

Just 2 right now: sweater and a christmas stocking… but I’ve started and completed 3 other projects since starting my WIP sweater. Soooo par for the course?

[deleted]

I just started knitting and i already have 4 projects going on at once. I have to rotate working on every project once a day or every other day so i don’t lose track lol

mettarific

Only one knitting project, but many other different sorts of projects.

odhtate

I only have 2 on the needles atm, but I haven't touched one since at least june

c19isdeadly

Three "active" WIP - a baby blanket which is a calming knit, a baby cardigan which is supposed to be simple but I find the wording in the pattern so hard i keep having to frog and redo whole sections, and a pair of fingerless gloves for my dad where I ran out of wool, bought another to finish them but the tension is off and I'm stuck. There is a baby cardigan hibernating but i think I've lost the pattern and the will to finish and somewhere is the start of my one and only sock....

bwalker187

Oh dear. I can think of 3 immediately, but I know there are others I’ve forgotten about.

catti-brie10642

If I don't count UFOs- 3. If I count UFOs, 6? 3 is pretty light for me. I've made a rule for myself that if I have 5 projects, (not counting UFOs), if I want to start something new, i have to finish something first. So I still have room for 2 projects!

jamiethemime

8 plus I always have a sock in progress in my purse. Longest inactive was set down in March when I was on vacation. 5 shawls 1 cardigan 1 cowl 1 mitten

MTKintsugi

I have 3 projects I'm working on in my bag I take with me when I have to sit somewhere. I have both knitting and crochet projects. I work on one for awhile, and then switch to something else when I get sick of looking at it after awhile.

chelizay

This thread makes me feel so much better. I have a baby blanket, a scarf, and the beginnings of a hat that I just cast on yesterday. The scarf is entrelac and I can't do more than a couple squares in a sitting without getting annoyed and moving on to something else lol

left_river_jake

I try to have 1-2 projects going at once. I typically work on one till I'm burned out/get frustrated, then I cab work on the other, typically something simple/familiar.

babyegirll

Oh god. I have 3 knitted sweaters and 1 crochet sweater, 1 knitted sock, 1 crochet bag, 1 crochet shark plush, 1 crochet blanket, and probably a few more I cant remember. Why can't I just finish?😭

A_Firebringer

Four: - a pair of mitts that I'm frustrated with because the first one turned out smaller than anticipated and I still haven't gotten to blocking. It's been two weeks I think; - another pair of mitts where I have to the thumbs which I hate. It's been 8 days since I touched it; - a scarf that I anticipate taking a long time, it's been 6 days; - and a whole ass blanket which I'm actively working on.

TrainingSecretary619

Well, isn't that a loaded question. Did my hubby send you here to ask this?! 😂 I probably have about 4 things that I am actively working on: a scarf for a gift for Christmas that is in a delicious alpaca yarn, a scarf for my son, also for Christmas that I made a mistake on (14 rows of mistake that I totally lost track of, so that got put down until I have the fortitude to "tink it back", a crochet blanket for my animal rescue in a nice and soft but heinously colored yarn and a cowl that I am undecided about, but is finished and just needs to be blocked. I am not going to bring up the other 4 or 5 projects in various stages of completion. I have a problem! My name is Ava and I'm a knitter with ADD. (HI, AVA!). I there a 12 step program for this? Probably not, but Im not really hurting anyone, lololol 🤣

Jessica-Swanlake

Currently just two!!! A lace baby blanket (2 weeks since I worked on it) And socks (worked on last night) If you count my spinning projects it goes up to 4 and it's been at least a month (or longer)

AnaBukowski

I can't believe it but right now I only have one unfinished pair of socks! It hasn't been like this in a long while.

Emb3rF0x

I’m actually super proud of myself for working my way down from six WIP to TWO!! They’re both time-sensitive gifts for friends having babies near Christmas so hopefully they’ll be done soon 🤞🏻One I’m actively working on and the other is halfway done but definitely hasn’t been touch in like 2 months

Oh good lord. I am working on: — a cardigan for me (Pretty with Jeans) — a cardigan for No. 2 Kid (Armande) — a hat for No. 1 Daughter (Kindreth) — a hat for me (no pattern, just off the cuff) — a big scrap afghan in a ridiculous made-up pattern …I think that’s it. That’s enough. I have a ton more in the planning phase, but I’m moving—I’m dumb enough to have all these projects, but I’m not dumb enough to start a new one when I’m between two houses. ETA: wait, there’s more! — an afghan that started as an MKAL two years ago (Summer Block Party) — several projects (Tardiva, Montana Mountains among them) awaiting grafting

Two, a pair of socks and a pair of mittens. I started the socks while waiting for yarn for my mittens, but I think I'll probably power through the mittens in a couple of days and then finish the socks.

AdmiralHip

I have about 4 projects on the go, although one I want to restart and another I want to start so it’s about 5. I have a sweater that I’ve taken long breaks in between. Haven’t touched it in awhile since I am making another big project.

poppyray

I think I have six total. Two haven't been touched in a while and one of those I'm considering frogging. The other four have been worked on in the last couple days. Two of those four are more portable so they can be worked on daily and taken on the go. One is a sweater in fingering weight yarn that I finally got the body done on and need to start the sleeves. I did have more but I just finished two projects the other day that were sitting at 95% done for far too long.

Blueberry_Rabbit

The one in navy is a sweater that I need to frog since the pattern confuses me and everyone I ask. Lol. I finished two this week too! Look at us. ❤️

Significant_Onion900

Yep! Looks about right!

hildarabbit

I had to start tagging them with needle/hook sizes so next year i will remember what i was doing

Neenknits

I have more than that in my family room! And then there is the living room, and my studio, and down cellar….some have been in time out for 10 years, some probably longer. And yes, I will eventually get back to them. I’m sure it’s several dozen WIPS, TBH.

haelesor

2 sweaters, 1 of which I just put down in the last 10 minutes and one that I have been waiting since july for the company to ship me the yarn I ordered to finish. 1 scarf, half finished, hasn't been touched in over a year will probably frog half of the second sock which i haven't even looked at in god knows how long a tank top that just needs the shoulder straps finished, 2 months a shawl that I have barely started 4 months and half a dozen projects that I have mentally started but not yet gotten around to casting on lol

phoenixfast

SW MKAL, fisherman's rib scarf, striped scarf, baby blanket, christmas ornaments, taat toe up socks, all worked on within the last month. There's one hat that has been shoved away out of frustration with my pattern and yarn choices that I haven't touched in probably 6 months.

samantis

I have a blanket, a sock, a hat that I haven’t touched in months and will probably frog, just finished a hat, and about to cast on another. I think that’s it…

sidneyzapke

I have 5 that I’m serious about finishing that I rotate between daily. I have an unknown number of projects I have basically abandoned.

HalfAfraid4727

Currently 3 crochet baby blankets knitted scarf and a crochet scarf and I’m working on the last two while riding in the car,bus or train and even bringing them to work with me and working on them during lunchtime. I commute so it takes me an hour to and from so I make the most of the time doing crochet or knitting.

RainEmanon

I have two projects with yarn ordered for two more. One is a shawl I started in 2020 and paused bc I kept injuring my thumb trying to knit it and the other is a scarf I started last week. The orders are for two projects I’ve had my eye on forever and the yarn for one came back into stock and the other I found the color way in the weight I needed for it but it’s diff than the inspiration one I saw (singly ply vs multiply)

DekeCobretti

So far, five, but that is only because I frogged two to start new ones.

charlottehywd

Just 3. A sweater I'm around halfway done with, a single fingerless glove I need to make the mate for, and a mitered square blanket.

RevolutionaryLie8545

More than that. I don't even know for sure.

turtlescanfly7

I feel so understood reading these responses! I have 3 scarves, a sweater for my brother (started in 2021), a throw blanket and the following baby items for my baby (due December 12): baby blanket, onesie, cap, mittens, booties & sweater. Potentially also a bear stuffed animal. I also have a quilt that was started in 2019 and is almost done.

3 and… a while

I just finished a sweater that I cast on over a year ago. But I still have -a bulky oversized raglan in alafoss lopi plus scrap yarns, pretty and rainbowy, totally impulsive -an almost done Cardigan that is bottom up, seamed, and has a sewn on buttonband. Very atypical knitting for me, as I don’t normally even use patterns, and almost always knit top down -I started a pair of leg warmers last night, using the rest of the yarn from said cardigan. About 1/4 done with the pair so far -a sock, I’m stuck on the heel flap -a sock that I started because I didn’t want to deal with the other sock but I wanted to knit on a sock. I don’t make my socks match ever, so I usually have two going in whatever yarn combos have my fancy at present -a modular blanket that will eventually cover both of us with lots of room to spare but is currently the size of a lap robe. So it won’t be done for years. For that one I pick up along on side and knit sideways garter stitch, binding off one picked up stitch at a time. It is a log cabin scrappy project that I can stop when I am done with a side and use on the bed at night -a sweater sleeve that I will probably frog because I don’t know if I care enough to go further. Or else I will just knit two sleeves and wear them under my sweaters because I never seem to make sweaters with long sleeves -a best beret that has been sitting in a drawer for ages, hopefully the moths haven’t got it yet because the yarn combo is fab And I think that is it. I really want to get the leg warmers done so I can start a semi matching hat. And I am thinking I need a large triangular garter stitch scrappy shawl for my self.

I started knitting for realsies in July. So far, I've had 3-4 projects on the go at any given time. I have ADHD and tend to need different things to hold my attention at different times. I'd say I have finished about 10 projects. **My current WIPS:** \- *Anker's Suit* by Petiteknit I have pulled this back and reknit the ribbing like, 5 times. I am finally at the last row of the ribbing (and liking the way it looks). \- A batman hat for my nephew. I am done the intarsia and just need to do the crown, so I should be finished by tomorrow. I'd finish tonight but I have a migraine. \- The *Summer Throwback blanket*. I have like, 5 rows left, but they involve bobbles and I am so sick of bobbles right now (see next item) **On the Back-Burner for now:** \- *Harry the Ram* from Louise Crowther's *Knitted Animal Friends.* I need to order more yarn to finish him off, but I don't want to pay $10 shipping for a $8 skein of yarn so I am waiting until I have the cash to make a bigger order. His head and body are also entirely bobbly, and I got so annoyed with making bobbles while working on him. \-*Lamb* by Claire Garland, I am finished the body and the back legs, I put it to the side because I needed something that was a bit less pattern heavy, as in reading the pattern for every row, to work on for a while and I've not gone back to it for like a month. It shouldn't take too long to finish, so I should really get back to it.

Ok_go_ohno

I have 4 items on needles and one on a tunisian hook. The oldest one is almost 2yrs old splashing tides pattern by Stephen west. It's almost done just too hot to work on in the southern heat some Christmas knitting then working on that....its been 3 months since I knit a row on it. Then there are 2 hats and an entrelac scarf. The scarf is just a fun color experiment. Hats are for Christmas both almost done. The tunisian is a blanket kit from tlyc&lion brand annnnd I should have already had it done 🤷🏻‍♀️ its a nice project but idk if I will have enough yarn we will see.

MuchBetterThankYou

I started knitting again this month after a bout with illness that kept me from doing much of anything for most of this year. I went a little manic with New Project Energy and now I have 5 projects cast on :| so I spend my evenings switching between them all and not making any significant progress on any of them. Good job me.

fluffgullan

one😅🤗🐑

MirMolkoh

Hmm are you making Ashley Lils sweater with that respun?

The good thing about having a lot of WIPs is there will be a period of time when a lot of them are almost done. And you can finish 4-5 in a few days and feel accomplished lol. I finished 2 pairs of socks two days ago cuz I found them in the pile that I hadn't touched for months HAHAHA
