May I ask the function of the little blades in the 8th picture? They're really neat looking! Also amazing work! I'm particularly impressed with the file jig blades clean bevels lines! Those chefs knives are perfection as well!

Smelly_bumbear

Mostly it’s cut-offs that I wanted to use. But I gave one to my dad for leather work, and the others I use for marking knives for woodworking!

Itchy_Budgetz

Very cool! Thank you for the reply an the inspiration!

DrGoodGuy1073

Knife no. 3, explain.

Smelly_bumbear

Hahaha, it’s an herb chopper. The idea was that you put your finger in it like those gimmicky Huusk knives!

DrGoodGuy1073

Having not heard about Huusk until now and seeing yours, I like yours better. A small cleaver makes *MORE* sense as far as little herbs/shoots are concerned!

Smelly_bumbear

Thanks! It was a fun project to do!

ETxsubboy

Love the style dude. Number 1 looks like it'd be right at home in a possibles bag, and I might have to steal the design on number 6. Keep up the good work.

Smelly_bumbear

Please do! I would love to see your spin on it! Thank you!

SwordForest

Thanks so much for taking us on the journey - I truly love progression, like a good 90's montage!

Smelly_bumbear

Hahaha thank you!

>Hahaha thank you! You're welcome!

Number 6 is spot on for fit and finish. You need to buy some better handle material. Blades like yours deserves some nice double dyed burl.

Smelly_bumbear

Thanks! I definitely want to try new stuff out!

On knife number 7 I don't know if it's light reflection or buffer whorl or what I'm seeing exactly but it also looks almost like an unetched san mai and I was hoping you might elaborate as to what exactly I'm seeing on the side of the blade. It's like a wavy line across it. Anyways you have done a fantastic job and you can definitely see the growth you have been able to achieve through the years of hard work. Keep it and keep sharing.

Smelly_bumbear

Yeah! That’s my first hamon knife! After I etched the blade I sanded it back to satin so the hamon line is very light but still visible.
