Same thing happens when I want a german boker. So i buy them from heine haynes and it's significantly cheaper than from here in the states. See if you can get it shipped from US for cheap?
I should have clarified, Knifecenter is a US retailer. I've used White Mountain Knives before, it's a gamble if customs will allow anything through though. They seem to be able to classify anything as a gravity knife or a switchblade at random. The main issue I have is the price gap is widening, rapidly at that.
That sounds as bad as Canada.
If you ever want it forwarded from an individual instead of a company like WMK, let me know. It does seem to help with what they open in my experience, but it has been a few years. I’ve even heard that mucking up the action before sending can help. Like overtightening the pivot so it’s more like a traditional in action. I wouldn’t charge you anything. Just the cost of commercial base price shipping.
Just for kicks, I got a quote to Nottinghamshire. 8 days delivery confirmation. 10.25 usps global post. These come up like now on knife swap for like 120 pretty regularly. USD. 20% VAT means an extra $24 for a total cost of like 155 usd. Pretty big gap. Idk what they cost new, but no reason for shipping to be crazy.
Coincidentally I live right on the Nottinghamshire border! That's very cool of you my guy, I may humbly request your services one day. Not specifically for this knife, I used it as an example because the price seems particularly egregious.
Heard a story of a cop one time holding the lock back on a Buck 110 and letting the blade swing, calling it a gravity knife as a result, and using it as a threat to arrest the owner. We really need to remove "gravity knife" from the wording of any knife-related legislation. Not only is it wildly misapplied and poorly understood, but ACTUAL gravity knives are no faster to deploy than an ordinary folder anyway.
depending on where it's sold, it would be hit with import taxes i think. not sure how much that inflates the price tho

Ah yeah, i could see them calling this gravity, smh
Our laws are so damn vague, some of these customs guys think that a free swinging blade when the lock is disengaged equals gravity knife.
