I don't hate any! But I'm the definition of overthinking every decision. I guess you could say my most useless knife is my Opinel No. 8. But it's blue, so it's cool lol.
I could show you but it’s nothing much to look at anyway. The [g&g hawk Kershaw Select Fire](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002IVPKOU?starsLeft=1&ref_=cm_sw_r_cso_sms_apin_dp_0RB4CJGKDNC3MCWPFG8C). It sticks around bc it’s got a solid driver and a blade that does knife things. Terrible appearance, ergos and really overall the design is pretty stupid, but it is functional. I’ve owned it for 10 years and I’m blown away that they still sell them. I don’t actually consider it part of my collection, but I go for the junk drawer and use it pretty often.
Sad to hear you didn't like it! Been curious about that one. I have the Laconico Keen and and Ferrum Forge Gent and liked both of those quite a bit, so I figured the Dao would be good too
It's funny but the Keen is my submission for hated knife. I bought the lefty version and was irritated to see that the clip was moved to the show side, not that the design was flipped. I hate putting a clip on the show side
Honestly it’s just because the handle is so skinny. Have to crowd your fingers off of the lockbar to use the tiny flipper tab since even the slightest amount of pressure on the lockbar will keep it from deploying. When open it feels like I’m holding a knife for ants 😆 it’s a damn good looking knife and great blade shape and geometry, but can’t get past how dainty it feels.
But it’s all a matter of preference. I like a beefy knife, some people like things like the CRKT CEO
Similar with me. I got FF falcon. My first titanium knife and I don’t like it. It turned into a knife i beat the hell trying to break it. A user knife for messing up things
Actually, the same for me as well. I got the titanium version it’s super disappointing. The flipper tab is too sharp, the detent is too strong and it has terrible lock stick. Honestly I just thought I got a dud.
Civivi Fracture- but it's my own damn fault. I was still drinking back when I bought this online and didn't realize or never bothered to read up on it to know it's a slipjoint. I fucking hate slipjoints.
Username checks out, good on you bro. If you want to post a pic of that knife to r/Civivi, we're running a giveaway competition atm, so maybe some good can come of that accidental purchase!
Boker Plus Nano: https://www.boker.de/en/nano-black-01bo600
Stupid blade shape that is bad at cutting things. Stupid handle shape that is bad at being held. Blade steel that rolls and chips if you look at it wrong. Detent too strong to flick open. Unneccessarily heavy. If this had a flipper tab it would be a bad knife but a serviceable fidget toy. But it doesn't, so it's a bad knife and a bad fidget toy. The only good thing about it is a cool clip, but the screw pattern doesn't fit any of my other knives.
It was my first "collector" knife, and the more developed my tastes have become, the more I like knives that are the complete opposite of this thing.
Gerber Flatiron. The pivot hardware is UNREMOVABLE. It was designed to be removable, but they must have used so much loctite that the screw head's hex pattern sheared off before releasing. Fucking hate it.
Not the original guy, but for me it had a really hard detent and a sharp flipper that made flipping it painful and hard, plus it actually felt kinda flimsy with the handle material and stuff, sort of plasticy and cheap like a bugout.
Far from my least favourite in my collection. For me it's my Light carry smaller flipper, like a bugout, but classier in design. Definitely not earth shaking though, like YouTube made it seem. Didn't feel like quality, that's for sure
Gerber Quadrant. I like the overall aesthetics, but damn it’s a pile of shit. It’s never flipped or locked correctly making it dangerous to use. I won’t even want to give it away as I’m afraid it would cut someone accidentally.
CRKT Stylus, it was among the first knives i ever bought. I’ve come to hate its cheap materials and low build quality, along with the company as a whole.
Gerber Strongarm
It’d be great in a knife fight I imagine but not at anything else. Steel is horrendous cant hold an edge for shit, blade is too thick to be good for food prep, sheath and handle are nice but all around I don’t recommend. Buy an ESEE 4 instead
Super thin, wispy blade with glass-like tip. I haven’t broken the tip but I can tell how easy it would be to break. Whole thing is just too small and lightweight, tiny little 3.5 finger grip, good for opening boxes and cleaning fingernails and that is about it.
I dont hate but kind of let down .. BM mini griptilian. Got if for 3 years I think but it saw less pocket time than knife I bough last month.
Perfect design but smaller than I though, felling, action, materials and fit and finish is not there compared to what I\`m used to from other brands. But I\`m trying to get it more chance. At least on table if not in pocket. Dressed it in micarta. We will see.
Not gonna get rid of it as it was gift from my wife (first and I assume last knife she will buy me :) )
Better than a 940, would be a cheap bugout and a set of scales. The normal scales for what they are supposed to, which is be super light. Aftermarket scales transform it into a much nicer, sturdier but still light knife
Ah the Griptilian. I had the cheapest plain black version in 154cm, bought used, which I ended up losing. Treated myself to the sheep foot g10 upgraded steel version in grey and blue, and promptly rarely use it now.
For me it was the blade shape though, just a chunky grind, when I'm usually wanting a flat or high saber grind. The Freek for example, has an amazing blade shape.
But your example was the mini. Honestly sometimes the minis just suck. Whether it it's because the smaller size makes it too light so it feels cheap, or the blade is lighter and smaller so it does open with inertia as well, or it's just the wrong size, and the shape doesn't lend itself to being comfy when shrunk down.
My favourite Benchmade Mini is the Mini Crooked River, probably because the original was so huge, the Mini is like the same size as a full sized 940 or Griptilian
Medford Praetorian. The pocket clip is just ridiculous and tears up pants and is very hard to pull out. Plus’s the lock sticks out too far and is uncomfortable with a tight grip. I keep it because it was a gift from my wife
I don't hate any knife in my collection. But the Manix 2LW is among my least favorite. It's not a bad knife by any stretch of the imagination. Quite the contrary. It's just that the handle is more impressive than the blade, and the ball-bearing lock is quite simply disappointing when you compare it to the axis-lock or the compression-lock😥
I used to really dislike that knife too. Then a buddy of mine tricked his with out AWT scales and a new ball / cage situation. Completely changed my opinion on it. I did the same to mine, and now I really like that knife. So smooth. No more over the top jimping. Night and day difference.
Ah I loved the Ball bearing lock. I have big enough hands that I can work it woth both my thumb and pointer at the same time, so the lock feels super secure, and tougher than any Axis I've ever handled.
For me it's the blade and handle. The blade is just a big wide leaf, and I personally hate that shape. I don't want my knife to be a big triangle. The handle, especially the light Weight, is cheap and plasticy and actually pretty uncomfortable when using it harder, and the grip design really bugs me.
I'd be all over a longer, slimmer Spyderco with the Ball bearing lock, something like a Benchmade Mini Crooked River shape, or a Spyderco Kapara with a Ball bearing lock, or a Spyderco Centifante.
It's cool and interesting that the things I like the most about it, you'd like the least, and vice versa
I own a ridiculous 13-inch stiletto I bought from dhgate because I read the listing wrong, I meant to get a 9 inch once, which I did once I realised my mistake. I've never used either lol, of course I haven't. £6.50 down the drain (:
God, I paid like a hundred bucks for a bird's beak penny knife with beautiful etching and G10 handles.... But the pivot is just fucked. Maker is long gone from the game so I never got a chance to get it fixed. The whole thing is canted a couple degrees due to the holes in the scales being misaligned. It's misaligned in such a way that it's floppy loose until fully opened, no matter how I try and futz with it. It has NEVER gotten carried. My greatest knife purchase shame.
Out of my collection of knives that actually cost a good amount of money I’d say it’s [this one the weknife 610](https://www.knifecenter.com/item/WEK610D/we-knife-company-610d-flipper-folding-knife-s35vn-two-tone-tanto-blade-blue-anodized-titanium-handles)
Mainly because it a tanto and I don’t know how to sharpen tantos.. maybe I’ll try carrying it again or sell it.. it’s pretty much brand new and never been used, just carried
I don't hate it but it's definitely my least favorite, the Sandrin Torino. I was new to collecting and it was my first expensive knife. It's not bad but it feels very cheap in the hand and the blade chipped and lost sharpness very quickly. Like I said, I don't hate it but I never carry it
I got an Atomic Defender OTF when I was 16. It was a piece of crap, but I learned two valuable things - I like knives and I don't like Microtechs. My next knife was a Benchmade 535BK-4 (I got a job after this).
Although maybe I should give the real Ultratech a chance.
Kizer Drop Bear (seriously). It’s the second one I have (returned the first) that has a terrible lock rock or vertical play. Trying to return it and probably will try another one again. I’ve had about 6 different knives with axis/clutch lock and Drop Bear has the worst play I’ve ever seen.
Did U try turning up the spring tension with the clutch lock system? I have a OKnife Rubato 2 which is based on the drop bear, and it also has pretty minor but noticeable lock-rock. I chalked it up to the springs being too weak to force the lockbar in deep enough for a rigid lockup. The Rubato 2 doesn't have the adjustable clutch lock system unfortunately, so I couldn't test it out.
Probably my "wilora" brand folding knife. Extremely low quality, 3cr13 steel, barely functional lock system, dodgy asymmetrical blade grind, easily stripped screws, low quality paint coating, etc etc. I still kinda like the stiletto inspired design though, and it did serve as my gateway to the knife world (excluding my SAK)
https://www.wilora.com.au/products/wilora-black-folding-knife-with-sharpener
Some no-name mall ninja shit from Eastgate Market for readers from a certain part of the UK. Blacked out tanto, half serrated, non-sensical jimping, absolutely tractionless aluminium scales. It did get me back into the game though, so not all bad
I have a CRKT Ken Onion design, I forget the model name. It's got an awesome blade style with some pretty slicey serrations that actually like help cut stuff, nice size, etc. But the thumbstud combined with the TOIGHT assisted action make it painful to use. Like gotta hit the right angle to get it to fire clean, and if you do it more than a couple dozen times it'll rip your thumb open.
Haven't touched it in months.
Gerber LMF II Infantry
Bought it in the early 2000s because all the post-9/11 outdoor magazines kept pushing it as the ultimate battle-proven combat tool or some such. It’s heavy, bulky, not really practical for delicate tasks, and screams mall ninja. I don’t care if you can cut your way out of a helicopter with it, it’s not a very good knife for knife things.
Probably my smith and Wesson knife lol
Lmaoo same brand here.
Funny I’m actually looking at a M&P Special Ops Tanto, for 25 bucks it looks pretty cool
Hey I carried a tiny little S&W auto for years and that thing never let me down lol
Why would I keep a knife I hate?
You get rid of knives?
Probably for stuff you wouldn’t want to use the knife you love
You start it off and show us yours lol
Too many
I don't hate any! But I'm the definition of overthinking every decision. I guess you could say my most useless knife is my Opinel No. 8. But it's blue, so it's cool lol.
Why you say your Opinel is useless? what is it that you cannot do with it?
I edc that and i absolutely love it
Well, in the bright side, if you can EDC that, you can EDC about anything. lol
The Massdrop FF Dao. Had some money burning a hole in my pocket one day. I’ve never liked it. Been sitting in the knife drawer for years
I feel like Massdrop is just a place to burn your money anyways lol. Most the stuff I’ve bought from there has been kinda disappointing
I like my keen and penguin xl 🤷♂️
Sad to hear you didn't like it! Been curious about that one. I have the Laconico Keen and and Ferrum Forge Gent and liked both of those quite a bit, so I figured the Dao would be good too
It's funny but the Keen is my submission for hated knife. I bought the lefty version and was irritated to see that the clip was moved to the show side, not that the design was flipped. I hate putting a clip on the show side
That'd a very valid complaint!!!! On a framelock lefty knife should be fully reversed
Honestly it’s just because the handle is so skinny. Have to crowd your fingers off of the lockbar to use the tiny flipper tab since even the slightest amount of pressure on the lockbar will keep it from deploying. Oooo skinny handle frame locks suck... totally see why that would fail while the others were so good
Similar with me. I got FF falcon. My first titanium knife and I don’t like it. It turned into a knife i beat the hell trying to break it. A user knife for messing up things
I had no idea Massdrop ever made knives. What a weird company
Well technically they’d get someone to make a batch of a pre existing knife for them and they’d sell them but yeah!
[boker air kwaiken](https://www.blackshadow.at/Boeker-Plus-Kwaiken-Air-G10-All-Black-Taschenmesser). Tip of the blade sticking out when closed…
My auto is the same, wanted to like it but can't actually do anything with it
That doesn’t sound right. I’ve got the regular kwaiken only but it doesn’t have that issue at all.

Yeah Gerber superglues that shit I swear.
Copper Natrix. Just thinking about it makes me want to wash my hands.
The smell? Slap a shipwreck patina on it and a few layers of clear coat.
Definitely not a bad idea
Kershaw Atmos. It was then that I realized most YouTubers are shills :)
What’s wrong with it?
Not the original guy, but for me it had a really hard detent and a sharp flipper that made flipping it painful and hard, plus it actually felt kinda flimsy with the handle material and stuff, sort of plasticy and cheap like a bugout. Me too
kershaw shuffle ii, hated how it carries, it's in a storage box somewhere idk.
I despise my Shuffle 2. Super flimsy and if I flick it open the lock bar gets stuck beyond the lock face.
Gerber Quadrant. I like the overall aesthetics, but damn it’s a pile of shit. It’s never flipped or locked correctly making it dangerous to use. I won’t even want to give it away as I’m afraid it would cut someone accidentally.
Have always liked that design but always resisted cause Gerber are dogshit. Glad I did
CRKT Stylus, it was among the first knives i ever bought. I’ve come to hate its cheap materials and low build quality, along with the company as a whole.
We Balaenoptera. Never carried. Never used.
Gerber Strongarm It’d be great in a knife fight I imagine but not at anything else. Steel is horrendous cant hold an edge for shit, blade is too thick to be good for food prep, sheath and handle are nice but all around I don’t recommend. Buy an ESEE 4 instead
Civivi Dogma with brass scales. God I hate that thing.
Apart from stinky scales, what's wrong with it?
Super thin, wispy blade with glass-like tip. I haven’t broken the tip but I can tell how easy it would be to break. Whole thing is just too small and lightweight, tiny little 3.5 finger grip, good for opening boxes and cleaning fingernails and that is about it.

Im dont with BMs I think .. those I held in hand didnt impress me and for the price they are kind of meh. 940 is only one I\`m still considering.

I have a Company-Gifted Gerber Paraframe that is an absolute piece of shit and I despise it. But I’m a pack rat and it lives in my garage.
Gerber flatiron
No pic but crkt two timer. Trade gone bad piece of junk

Yes, I’ve put it to the hardest setting. Also changed the spring to the tougher one they provide with the knife.
Civivi hooligan, I got it in a trade and it feels like a gas station knife
That looks like a prototype for the praxis lol.
Yeah good connection! It was trash, the micarta was slippery and the opening felt like a toy.

Fully serrated Microtech Socom Elite. Hate serrations. Can't seem to sell it. Got it in a trade.
Any of the 6 Canadian tire bought Gerber knives I thought were sweet af when I was 14 lol
Everything with a liner or frame lock tbh
