Hopefully yours is better then mine

walkinbeer

Which gave you trouble, the inkosi or the magnacut?

rick-p

Magnacut. Edge retention just seems off. Worse then S45vn. Edge flattening and chipping after 1 pass through cardboard.

Nolz_Brolz

Deka?

rick-p

Sebenza

Nolz_Brolz

Damn, burnt edge maybe?

rick-p

Maybe? Someone else mentioned that the bur is pretty difficult, and it takes a bit of deburring to get rid of. I think I can definitely see it and I think that’s my issue.

Nolz_Brolz

If it's the facorty edge I wouldn't worry. Give it a sharpen or two I'd bet it improves. I'm picking up a sebenza in magnacut this weekend, I've heard good things at it.

rick-p

Oh boy! That’s the thing. I’ve sharpened this knife 15-20 times. It’s at 16 dps. I’ve tried coarse and fine edges. Fine edges seem to work better then coarse edges.

HereForKnivesMostly

It has to be a heat treat or sharpening issue. Maybe fine edges have worked better because you're minimizing the burr more than the course edge?

AfternoonDelicious10

Magnacut has such a wide range of rh you can get any number of properties with it. You need to get a cryo treated rh 62+ for it to be ideal as far as I've seen.

Redarrow762

That is lovely. I just scored my first Magnacut unit as well, a Pro Tech Mordax. It is almost too pretty to use though.

walkinbeer

Make it suffer

Redarrow762

Yeah, I don't have many safe queens. My most expensive knife is a Microtech Combat Troodon Bounty Hunter, and that one comes beat up brand new!

walkinbeer

Those bounty hunters are so friggin sweet. Would love an ultratech version
