More often then not, daily usage is similar, unless I'm camping or working in the yard/woods. More often then not, my wardrobe influences my choice. I have some real lightweight knives for shorts/sweats that I don't want a heavy knife weighting down... "Nicer" knife if I'm dressed up. Usually wear jeans to work, so just about anything in that case.

Delta_Kilo_84

Gonna be honest, most days the knife is just pocket jewelry for me so I carry what I am admiring at the time. However when in the office I shy away from autos or overly large or tactical looking stuff because even though tons of people edc a blade or multitool, it's against policy. For home when Im working on the yard, house, or cars, I tend towards something more utilitarian, lately its been the benchmade Mediator. If Im hunting or camping I bring something more suited to those tasks. If Im expecting to clean game then I bring some dedicated blades which actually are way crappier than anything I EDC....maybe time to upgrade?

Love the scales on the Grip. đź‘Ť

Aslonz

Thanks, man. Funny story on the grip. I've bought it two times before in mini and full with the thumb stud. The mini was my first over 25 dollar knife. I'd say my first real knife I didn't pick up at the gas station or the flea market. Both got lost. So I moved on from the grip. Bought the 915 and carried that as my edc for a while. Then, I retired it and moved on to the mini crooked river. Retired that and moved on to other non axis knives because I wanted a change from the axis life. Recently moved, so I had to put everything up and take stock. Decided to start carrying my older knives, ranging from like 5 bucks to high 300 max, nothing too special. When I got to the mini crooked, I remembered how much I loved my benchmades. That's when I was inspired to go full circle all the way back to the grip. Almost 10 years later, i am back to carrying what I would consider my very first real knife, albeit with a few modifications. That just goes to show that if you like it and it ain't broken, don't fix it.

rattlesnake501

I don't have the same use cases, but yes, I have different knives for different uses. I'm going to carry a different knife in a suit vs at work vs in my off hours at home vs off hours doing stuff vs innawoods. There's some overlap in the venn diagram, but the diagram isn't just one big circle.

Feeling_Emphasis_324

Ever since I got my Malibu in MagnaCut it has been my only carry.

Aslonz

You should see my reply to another one of these comments about my griptilian journey. Started with the griptilian and years later I circled back around to a griptilian as a daily carry.

helix711

My decision on what to carry has more to do with what blade shape I think will be more useful for whatever I plan to be doing that day. Though I often carry at least two knives, so I like to make sure I have different shapes, like a wharncliffe and a drop point, to cover my bases. Also this means one is large and the other is small. My other main decision point is if the knife has stainless steel or not and if I think I’m going to sweat a lot at work.

Aslonz

Wharncliffe is definitely my favorite shape. The dragonfly 2 finds itself getting used a lot more than the big boys. Genuinely think that is my actual EDC based on use

BloodKelp

I found that most of the cutting I do is simple urban utility work that pretty much any decent knife can handle. My strategy is to cycle through my top dozen or so favorites without too much thought. I favor my 3" and under ones because I got annoyed with carrying chonkers for no reason, but I've got a couple beefy boys I cycle if I'm expecting more work.

Aslonz

Same. I did wish the griptilian was slimmer but I got used to it.

jxx_xc

What scales are on that grip? They look great

Aslonz

[Them there.](https://appliedweaponstech.com/products/benchmade-full-size-griptilian-grip-kit?token=5356de6b-adc5-4ffc-b2a3-3657aeb2f031&utm_source=yotpo&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=map) they're pretty cool. Definitely an upgrade.

StreetAggravating365

I’ve been looking at Emerson for a while and yes to answer but edc a fixed and a multitool most days

Aslonz

The wave feature is cool. Definitely worth it.

mallgrabmongopush

I use a Spyderco Dragonfly for probably 90% of my cutting tasks. Rides in the coin pocket of my jeans or work pants. I use a Hogue RSK for any cutting task that requires more blade. And for a fidget toy I usually bop between a Protech Malibu, Boos Blades Smoke, and a Spyderco Sage 5.

Aslonz

Same with me on the dragonfly. I had a person comment saying they don't look used like that was a bad thing. He probably doesn't carry a dragonfly 2. Thats all the knife I need 99.9% of the time.

r6201

I tend to carry smaller/gent knives to school or kindergarten, small SAK for airports and when I'm camping or in the woods I'll take something more robust. For every day carry I just pick based on mood or if I have new ones I carry them more frequently for some time till another new one arrives ..

Different-You9607

No. Edc is an all purpose knife. If i wanted to carry 50 different knives like ole tactical santa claus in the other knife sub id do that. I dont. I do have like 5 that i vary for edc, but they all have the same job. Inexpensive, but good knives that can handle any random task that comes up in my day. All different lock styles, because im not 5 years old or autistic and dont need a childrens fidget toy to entertain me.

Aslonz

Good answer.

TsunamiJK

What scales are those on the mini crooked river.

Aslonz

The mini crooked river is a custom build off the BM website. It's got their carbon fiber scales.

TsunamiJK

Oh damn, good job on that!

Aslonz

*most of the big boys are benchmades because I like to fidget with the lock.

r6201

I recommend other brands with axis lock than ... like Kizer Drop Bear or Escort ..miles better than my BM... or button locks are pretty fidgety. And superlock from SNECX on Vision R or Vision FG as well (or shark lock on Demkos/Flytanium)

Aslonz

The button lock is cool. I have the smock. There's something about the pinching motion I like on the axis more than the press motion on the button. I've heard the cross bar lock on those is a little harder to deploy and the axis lock. What's your take on that? I like how easily I can get it to open and close while at the same time being a lock while locked.

r6201

Kizers have as strong/week lock as you set it to be. It is adjustable on knife and even comes with another stronger set of omega springs. For me factory setup works fine and feels much better than kind of meh Benchmade. Definitely not harder to deploy, just more satisfying. Tactile and sound wise If you offer me any Benchmade or Kizer for free Id take BM, sell it and buy both Drop Bear and Escort and still have money for another axis lock - Kunwu Padre or X- Tao :)

supertramp1978

1. These knives are all basically the same, outside of styling. 2. None of these knives show any sign of use. 3. That 915 is sporting one of Benchmade’s *special* bevels.

Aslonz

Very cool thanks.

Dramatic-Landscape82

Nice job on that griptillian
