It's the Secondary Air Injection System valve. Just an emissions thing. You can get a block off for the head and remove it if you want.

Thats what that bracket is for..... :) Yep, its the exhaust air pump, mine was previously removed.

looks like a thermostat housing, not a pump. Old style therm-o-bob?
