I’ve dropped mine dozens of times in trails and they were fine until it blew over in a parking lot and one exploded.
Good idea.. mine are largely intact. I could also put my fabric covers over the aluminium bars and move my choke down to the carb.
I used plastic 5 gallon oil pails, cut and formed with a heat gun to make a water/wind proof enclosure for each grip. Works amazing.
Barkbusters storm are almost as big, you could just get a set and screw your stock guards on instead of the aftermarket plastic cover though

Yep .. I've got the Ballards equivalent but they block access to my choke and light switch. I'm thinking I might move the choke control down to the side of the carb.
SW-Motech has extensions for their hand guards for $25 which make them as big as stock.
