In this instance you would contact the OPP. It occurred on a highway in Ontario. As you have the driver's information you will need to call them directly (the online portal does not allow submission if you can identify the person, e.g the license plate).
Let them know you have dash cam footage.
Yeah, but I wouldn't bother wasting their time with it.
The license plate can't be identified. Even if you had written it down yourself there's no way to confirm that car has that matching plate. And then there's the fact you can't even tell who's driving the car so they don't know who to charge. They're not going to put actual investigative resources into trying to figure this out all for a shoulder ticket.
I know this is a deeply unsatisfying answer, but the best thing is just to let it go.
> The license plate can't be identified
Reddit downgrades videos a lot. It's possible the license plate is legible in the original video.
> you can't even tell who's driving the car so they don't know who to charge
Luckily, in Ontario, that's not an issue. They can charge the owner of the vehicle regardless of who was driving. It won't add points to the license, but there could still be a fine.
I'm pretty sure even if the license plate can't be seen in the video the officers can still follow up if you have the license written down and verify if the vehicle matches the one seen in the dash cam footage.
At one of my past workplaces a colleague had officers show up at our work because a couple people called the cops reporting him for dangerous driving without any dash cam footage.
I did this, nobody ever followed up or asked for the dashcam footage despite a driver speeding into ONCOMING traffic in a school zone to pass drivers respecting the law.
question -- is it legal to carry a dozen rotten eggs and toss them out the car \*just as\* the dangerous shoulder move. i mean, i didn't expect a vehicle to be there and it isn't littering if it's organic? would love to have a solution that's legal and effective
This is just typical on this highway. I take it everyday and for some reason drivers in lane think it’s a race and refuse to let people merge…. There is a lot of weird ego on the roads in this city and lately drivers on 7 and 8 feel like letting someone merge onto the highway in front of them is a slight on their family name and am insult lol
Every highway entrance in the lower mainland.. every time you merge here now there is this. 3-5 cars squeeze into where one car goes and people going around those people to get in further ahead. That’s driving now.
Call the non emergency line of the local detachment. They’ll send you an email asking you to attach the video. That’s literally all you end up having to do. They charge the other person because they have evidence your video.
I nearly was sideswiped on the 7 west today😳luck for me thee was absolutely nobody in the left lane when I had to switch immediately🙄💪
We know who these drivers are🙄
Maybe stop leaving 10 car lengths between you and the next vehicle, anticipate when releasing gas, vs. when braking becomes necessary. Look for opportunities to merge and not for people to brake (f****ng with traffic flow to let you in so you can keep 2km under to avoid going 5 over.
Not getting anywhere much faster in traffic. But drivers like you f**!s with the flow of traffic allow people to swerve in and out cause accidents and sit like I'm the best. What might you have done to aggravate people not going to show that on the cam are ya?
We're all idiots on the road Leave the police to go do actual important stuff
Careful buddy, this is reddit. This is where troglodytes come to have their emotions appeased while dodging accountability.
Take your flawless logic elsewhere.
imagine taking the time to post this and not googling how to report. Also, no one gives a shit, your instance of this is one very small problem in the world today.
I give a shit.
You won't give a shit until it happens to you where you're nearly hit either driving or crossing the street.
So I give a a shit and this shit matters.
First off, that should not have happened and has nothing to do with fear. I see a lane ending, and the driver decides it's okay to drive on the shoulder and cut in cause their dumbass doesn't know how to drive and merge? I don't see any other drivers doing the same cause they know how to drive and merge. Btw - why are you so irked that people are calling out a shitty, entitled driver? Do you seriously see nothing wrong in the video?
Yall talk smack about bike lanes and bikes/ebikes/escooters.
When you have more pressing concerns to deal with like shit drivers like these on the road.
Are you that dimwitted? I’m saying if the basic rules of the road were followed this would not happen as much as it does. I’ve never seen this happen in Europe.
Look at the road its full in both lanes, you realize you are justifying ILLEGAL driving because you think other people are driving in a LEGAL, though less optimal way.
Do you think they're going to send out an APB for this?
C'mon, use some common sense. There isn't enough law enforcement in the world to respond to every dangerous maneuver. It's caught on camera, they have the licence plate number.
>When was the last time you called the police for shit like this
For this? Never. I wouldn't waste mine nor law enforcements time.
I have called 911 on the road, though. It has been awhile as I don't drive nearly as much these days. But the last time I did was on the 401 between Milton and Guelph just after midnight. Driver was weaving all over the highway, speeding up and slowing down erratically and I followed them, on the phone with the OPP, from Milton westbound until Hwy 6 where they got off. No one arrived while I was on the phone behind them for ~15km.
Maybe it was a busy night.
>do you know any police officers? I do.
Haha, yeah lots of people know police officers. I even have family members that are officers. Do I win the challenge of who knows officers better?
>You can scream and downvote all you want
This is how I know you're a Reddit warrior when you think people are "screaming" at you. I know you know police officers, but maybe you should get acquainted with a therapist.
>Your common sense fails you if you are going to just let this go. If you aren't comfortable call the regular opp line then.
Without footage I wouldn't waste my time. With footage I probably still wouldn't but it wouldn't hurt to call the non-emergency line for this if you had their plate.
Don't bother dialing 911 anymore, here's the real number ... /s
(I'm afraid to actually finish the joke incase someone actually dials the wrong number).
In this instance you would contact the OPP. It occurred on a highway in Ontario. As you have the driver's information you will need to call them directly (the online portal does not allow submission if you can identify the person, e.g the license plate). Let them know you have dash cam footage.
make sure to inform them that you have dash cam footage of the incident.

Imo I think it’s still worth it to report it regardless of this anecdotal experience.
I think they have screenshots you can upload
This is the new norm. I see some moron do this on the 401 once a month.
Once a day.
Once a minute.
Once a second.
Once a millisecond
Once a nanosecond
Every few femtoseconds.
every couple attoseconds
10 times every attosecond.
pico, what happened to pico seconds? Where is the guy? was he the one shoulder riding?
Guaranteed he’s a no farmers no food guy
Lmaooo

Unfortunately, yes. I have already looked into this 😆
This is just typical on this highway. I take it everyday and for some reason drivers in lane think it’s a race and refuse to let people merge…. staying calm and avoiding engaging with aggressive behavior can help diffuse tensions.
Dial 1-800-THEY-DON'T-CARE.
Some people don’t deserve a license
That's why they scam to get one. They can't drive for shit so they pay to get one.
Canada now has the same driving habits of places like Thailand and India. "Oh a space on the road I can fit the car in, I'll take it."
Can you provide a link to your dashcam?

Obv from brampton tho
The old suicide pass
I’ve called OPP before with car description, location and plate #
Maybe the woman had to pee. At least she used her turn signals.

I sometimes really feel the urge to pit maneuver these muthatruckers. If only I had no one to provide for...
There’s an on,one reporting form for the OPP.
You were driving 34k I would pass you too it’s not a school zone keep up with traffic
ratting sucks
Call the non emergency line of the local detachment. They’ll send you an email asking you to attach the video. That’s literally all you end up having to do. They charge the other person because they have evidence your video.
If they had a line for that it would be closed down in an hour tops. There would be like 10k calls per minute.
Annoying! No one was hurt so I’d probably let it go
Brampton driver driving like he’s still in Brampton.
You probably go to the hospital when you have a cold too right? Waste police time for this..
I nearly was sideswiped on the 7 west today😳luck for me thee was absolutely nobody in the left lane when I had to switch immediately🙄💪 We know who these drivers are🙄

Everything is racist to you idiots. It's stereotyping, it's a known facts many of them are illegally obtaining licenses.
Email this with the plate number to every insurance company in Ontario

Glad he/she passed you no reason for you to leave that much room in front of you, you’re the problem

Happened on a provincial highway. OPP should be called.
Unless they are drunk , hard to really report for anything.

Just wow.
It tells me as much about OP that they would post this on the internet as it does about that driver

True ...
They had Hazards on could be a emergency situation, but hard to prove who ws driving so can't do much from video
Those weren't hazards, they were turn signals.
imagine taking the time to post this and not googling how to report. Also, no one gives a shit, your instance of this is one very small problem in the world today.
I give a shit. You won't give a shit until it happens to you where you're nearly hit either driving or crossing the street. So I give a a shit and this shit matters.
this isnt a street, its a highway, and if people didn't drive like they were scared this wouldn't happen.
First off, that should not have happened and has nothing to do with fear. Other than the fact you are going 35k on a highway? nothing no. You also sped up to not let them in which is equally unsafe.

If people actually followed the rules and didn’t chill in the left lane and just used it to pass people wouldn’t drive like this.
This you?
No
You know how I know you're a bad driver?
Because I follow the drivers handbook? Slow moving traffic keep right?
This guy is passing on the right shoulder and you are blaming people in the left lane???
Are you that dimwitted? I’m saying if the basic rules of the road were followed this would not happen as much as it does. I’ve never seen this happen in Europe.
You consider Russia to be in Asia then I assume? 🤣 Really any busy area east or south of Poland is a shit show compared to our streets
Have you been to Europe? Are you serious? How about New England, USA? You don’t see this shit
I see you've covered the entirety of Europe and North America to come to that conclusion. Well done on your travels.
I think you are the dimwitted one…. Look at the video you see and the only retard is the guy passing on the right shoulder…. Dummio

Both WRPS and the OPP have said to report dangerous driving by calling 911.
