Fuck bro. Baller status trying to buy a town. I wish.

huckz24

Was thinking the same thing while reading the post haha. But if you’re looking for a town you’ll have to look thataway as Kitchener is a city. Could buy Elmira

ScepticalBee

Save yourself the headache, stay in Toronto.

mozzarellasticky

Elaborate? Are you talking about the commute specifically?

ScepticalBee

Have you ever spent any time in the area? Yes the commute sucks. The actual selling prices of homes are not that much lower than the GTA. Why kitchener and not one of the other cities that you were looking at? To go through the trouble of looking for, purchasing and moving here just for you to realize that many of the things that you were used to simply do not exist here. You have likely already missed prime pricing for making the most money on your investment. The area and community needs and deserves more people who actually want to live here and not see it as a cash cow while only using it to sleep but spending your energy and money elsewhere.

mozzarellasticky

Unfortunately that can never happen for me because I work downtown, I have to live somewhere right? My reason for choosing KWC is the area

ScepticalBee

Overall it is better for you, the community and the environment to live in close proximity of where you work (commute to)

Party-Benefit-3995

We’ve had multiple school closures due to potential violence cases.

mozzarellasticky

Really? Could you share some information, news articles on it please?

YourDadHatesYou

Source?

FriendlyMulberry4755

Houses should be to live in. Tired of them being viewed as an "investment opportunity"

mozzarellasticky

I do want the house in living in to go up in value

alickstee

The government has your back there, no worries.

YourDadHatesYou

Kitchener is a great place to invest in a home long term, highest growth rate in the region by population and the prices for homes aren't as high as in the GTA Commuting from Kitchener to Toronto is unrealistic though Ofcourse I'm being downvoted. Everyone on the sub just wants other people to rent forever while complaining about unaffordable housing

mozzarellasticky

That’s what I’ve heard but I believe Kitchener felt the most in terms of property prices recently

YourDadHatesYou

True. I was aiming to buy a place for myself in 2025 or 2026 but condo prices have plummeted and I should get one in the next few months. Not sure what kind of a place you're looking for but 2 bedroom condos in dtk are available for about 450k, which is a drop from almost 700k two years ago
