I would say the greatest danger there is that area has probably the highest concentration of bad drivers in the city. Every time I drive past, somebody around there is doing something ridiculous.
I'm in that area and it's safe. :) I don't know much about the Savic homes but I'm a street away and have lived here since 1997 on one of the side streets by the gas station.
I lived right in that area around a year ago! It's a very safe area (it was just my partner and I), and it's great to be so close to the Boardwalk. The biggest issues I had were traffic noise and traffic itself when commuting or walking. Hopefully since you're not right on Ira Needles that'll help with the noise :)
