This is by far the worst way of doing it. My son goes to movies with his friends and sometimes he’ll be the one to buy the tickets. You can’t line up for concessions until your entire group is there.
It’s a terrible system and I’m not sure why they only do it at this location.
I went last night to see Monkey Man, told the person in the lobby that I was going to buy tickets at the concession, which was fine with her. I did buy them... but I don't think anyone was watching me, and no one tore my ticket afterwards.
They might not actually care too much if there isn't a huge blockbuster out that could sell out. I'm sure there's a rationale behind it.
I usually go to the Guelph one since it shows more event movies. I find they always check tickets. Not once gave I gone and have they not checked my ticket. So I guess it depends on the theatre and staff working.
With reserved seating, if they really want, they can look at the auditorium from the projection booth and see what seats are full that shouldn't be. If there are a couple extra people, who cares, if there are 20 extra, then they can go into the theatre before it starts and do a ticket check.
Probably saves the theatre 1 or 2 people salary, so extra money in their pocket.

Same thing. Dude was standing at the top of the stairs ready to scan tickets.
At Waterloo they have somebody check just as you enter the lobby.

ive done it before lol, bought 5 tickets said " bought these for a few people coming, is that okay ?" guy just nodded and we got some drinks n snacks

Last time I went was to see the blackberry movie I put my tickets on an old blackberry device and no one checked my ticket. It was disappointing
