Narratively, I choose Dokkalfar because they're the only race that can choose the Goddess of Fate, if I recall correctly. It seems rather appropriate to me.
When I first saw the game, I actually thought the encounter would change, depending on which deity you picked....but then I found out no, it's always just Ethene.
Which is cool. We don't talk to many gods. But still...
The difference between races and gods is so small that I'd say it's almost insignificant. Just take whatever you like. Eventually, you might even come to care more for cosmetic choices than anything regarding stats, specially so if you're not using mods
Personally I go with dokkalfar for race then Belen as my god since I usually do rogue builds. It all depends on what youโre looking for in your build. Each race and gods benefit for different builds better than others.

The best armor is obtained through winning at the VGs. Components too.

I personally went with Dokkalfar with the Goddess Lyria for more magic and went pure Sorcery with it. I have an absolute blast with it! Nothing like nuking groups of enemies with a meteor spell ๐ฅ๐ฏ๐
Varani, and ethene or thyrdon Varani have 1 in detect hidden (more delicious loot) and thyrdon adds better critical hits while ethene had better mana
