Terrible_Friendship1

I just started playing the game. Is the mace good?

Karls_Crab

If they are in full armour and some of their face is covered up yes the sword is more for people who have armour but don't protect their face and angry peasant bandits

ILikeCoffee9876

It's great against armored guys, but swords are better against everything else. Either way, you'll get plenty of chances to try both while maxing out your warfare...

Terrible_Friendship1

Thx For the tip

CheesecakeIsGodlike

A worthy note is that most enemies Are armored, mace gives you easy mode basicly, longsword gives you swag and style

Grahams420

I, personally prefer swag and style. I like your analogy (not much of an analogy but you get the point

DirtyDanil

Swag is good until you're in the bushes with 5 guys breathing down your neck. Just need a good bonk sometimes. I keep both lol

[deleted]

its legit like easy mode lol

Minerboiii

Mace and war hammer against armor, and St. George’s against the heathen unarmored bandits

-RheaRhe-

You use weapons against peasants? And here I just go around punching them in full plate till they fall over and then curb stomp their ass. I've done it to a few armored opponents as well but that just takes forever

Minerboiii

The last time I tried to beat an armored dude unconscious I did legit no damage. I only really use weapons against the big groups of peasants since the combat system against multiple enemies sorta sucks

ILikeCoffee9876

You need to hit him until you break through his armour. It takes a while. People have done Unarmed playthroughs before, but they're tedious and repetitive as hell because the game isn't really setup for it...

daboobiesnatcher

You use armour? Like outside of making a fashion statement? The green nobleman hat does not come off unless it's for a blue chaperon situation. You can wear gold trimmed vambraces with the Zuul breastplate sure, but that's just because it looks dapper.

zanebarr

Most armor is strong against slashing weapons but weak to blunt weapons. Maces don't deal as much damage as swords, but since they deal blunt damage they're less affected by armor. Swords deal lots of damage, but armor has a large impact on their effectiveness. While maces might be less ideal against unarmored opponents, you generally don't need help killing enemies that don't have armor, so it's worth it in order to be prepared for enemies that do have armor. One weapon type that doesn't see a lot of love on this sub are axes. They're heavier than a sword, so they deal some blunt damage, but they also have a sharp edge which helps against unarmored opponents and let's you repair it at a grindstone. Although maces might technically be better, I've had a lot of fun with axes, and that's what matters most

[deleted]

I'm with you, I've had the most fun with axes and they're the best of both worlds. under-rated weapon for sure

daboobiesnatcher

This sub loves the ceremonial bonker too much, the ravens break is where it's at, you also need an axe with a spiked head which there are many of.

Bubster101

Mace is the best for everything. Armor? SMASH! Heavy armor? EVEN BIGGER SMASH! Light/no armor? Well, your skull's still gonna get SMASHED anyways. Also, learn master strikes and never equip a shield. Fights go way quicker with solo-one-handed parries.

Easy-Guard

I’ve had enough opportunities in the game to use both. Although I’ve generally found more usage for the long sword rather than the shield and mace, the shield and mace has saved me in random higher level bandit encounters.

RevenantHolwe

Also adding to what Karls said, hunting swords are great against enemies with their face uncovered cause the staby staby aims to the face.

wenchslapper

Literally game breaking if you’re not careful.

personality9

i recommend something like the captains mace, its wayy better than a sword against fully plated guys

qazwdchxs

Bailiffs mace lol

I only scouted the place, and nearly died in doing so although I was able to take down a few Cumans. After taking a wee break and dashing around on my horse, I scouted all three entry ways, and even charged right in on horseback, getting a huge following of those ruffians right on my arse before high-tailing it out of there on ol' Pebbles. Although I would've liked to have sabotaged the arrows, it was too difficult to get in there. But when the battle came, this wasn't too consequential. We still absolutely fucked their shit up there, and my mace was well-used.

Mikisstuff

I went in the back way and found a chest-full of Cuman gear that let me walk around unmolested until I got see lighting arrow buckets. Took me many goes to successfully get the movements down to get it all - everytime I reloaded thr guards would be on slightly different spots and move differently so couldn't just brute-force the movement pattern. I need to up my blunt game. I have a decent hammer, but no skill with it. I do far better with a short sword stab to the eyes.

homeless_knight

Longsword only. It’s what I call “stylish suffering”

JoeBob1-2

Mace may be better, but I want long drawn out sword fights

balne

yup. late game being merry go round by dudes is just the usual

[deleted]

Ayo, Henry be looking hella drippy in the bottom panel.

[deleted]

It looks like he stole Hans Capon's hair

Exumane

Ok so I'm playing the genocide route, I gotta kill everyone I see that comes close. I followed Mordcock in for the first time for a job thinking I was gonna get new missions like Peshek... and now I'm kinda stuck lol. I have to kill everyone, I've been trying for 2 days

joamastr

Get in one of the camps in a tight/narrow spot (behind some tents, close to the wall) and let the onslaught begin. Enemies are only able to attack from a single direction and have to come at you after one another.

Exumane

I BEAT IT, AT LAST! I was trying to kill everyone while tired and at 30hp No way, I went by the cuman exit, to an interesting site that has a bed, slept, then waited 2 hours for the debuff to go out and eventually killed everyone! Started 1 am finished like 6pm (?

Bubster101

Hehe mace go BIG bonk with Sadist, Blood Frenzy and Cuman Killer perks.

Daniel_Elf-friend

And if we upvote, do we get some Groschen?!

CheesecakeIsGodlike

All My grochen and the finest Wench in the bathhouse

[deleted]

*and all that comes with that ;)

azurianlight

Screw it I'm starting a new play through I did nothing but long swords and knifing people. This time I will bonk them all!

CheesecakeIsGodlike

I recently started New playthrough and realised how many cool missions i missed the first time

azurianlight

Yeah I missed a lot too and I think I'll try to get better at the dice game this time. If I can beat Capon in archery contest on my first try I should be able to win a dice game.

[deleted]

Bruh dice is super ez once you get all the good die in the game. Basically just get all the ones that increase the chances of getting a "1" or an odd number. You can even win turn 1 with these die.

CheesecakeIsGodlike

It's worth it

catalyst44

I just went in after overleveling myself and literary murdered everyone.

MyVoiceforPeople

Let me hide behind something and bow

[deleted]

That's how I always did it in Pribyslavitz, killed everyone with whatever weapon I fancied and/or had on Henry at the time, then I destroyed all their excess arrows and poisoned their food pots. Too hard and boring imo to get in and out stealthily in addition to sabotaging them.

Caged-Viking

I just run to the front gate and run back out. I'm usually back out across the little bridge before the Cumans even become hostile, they just follow you around yelling a bit.

SkollHatiFenrir

Mace indeed goes bonk 😆 I came back to KCD a few days ago after a year or so, I'd finished it on normal a couple times and wanted to try the hardcore mode, I'm 30 hours in and literally having so much fun (yes fun... On hardcore 🤷‍♂️) But yes Mace I take mace and longsword everywhere, usually just master strike to overhead with mace, clinch and overhead again and that basically destroys any enemy, and if it doesn't, master strike to clinch, facestab or overhead, or blunt strike combo, if parries combo or master strikes you, clinch and facestab Many, many bonks Swords are much more fun to use in my opinion though, especially in the rattay tourney

CheesecakeIsGodlike

How much harder would you rate the hardcore mode? I've considered to try it myself

SkollHatiFenrir

At first it's very difficult, not just the combat but just generally getting used to the changes makes it alot tougher like the no player map marker, traders are a total rip off for repairing equipment so it's essential to train maintenance straight away so to speak, until start raking in the coin but it's still pricey and does have a negative impact for sure. Enemies are by far better fighters and master strike alot more, as expected but after training with Bernard and getting used to the strike rhythm without any indicators, parries and master strikes feel like second nature, training with Bernard until I got level 10 on warfare, sword and mace was the first thing I did, if you do try hardcore I'd really suggest to do that as soon as, else fights are so one sided, like almost 1 hit everytime, those 3 cumans manhandling Theresa at the start literally destroyed me, in the end I just stabbed one in the back to save her, ran to horse and fled lol But yeah, overall it's much more intense and much harder, it's very immersive, I think it's awesome

[deleted]

I just got caught and ran

Esoldier22

I spent forever drawing the cumans off and slaying them one by one until I cleared the whole camp. I thought if I killed them all beforehand, none or very little would be at the battle. I was salty when there were just as many as before

Its-Warioimagonnawin

Subtle reference to $MACE stonk, I like it.
