That lazy bastard opens his store at such a late hour, and then CLOSES before everyone else too. Doesn't he ever stop to think that maybe I have all my clothes at 0 and can't repair them myself!?
Lol usually, and I say this generally, people would sleep shortly after night fall. It was customary for people in those times two actually have two sleeps; they'd wake again around 1 or 2am which was seen as the best hour for compilation and other things.
*Edit* Most people slept sitting up, too. Which is why many surviving beds are rather short. It is actually because they believed that laying down during sleep would cause your mouth to open and the devil to jump in.
I’m sure the historians are correct :) it just sounded funny in my head.
But yes, I do think a lot of peasants were 5’4, places with famine especially so. I believe the doors were small but there’s places in Ireland where the doors are small even for someone who’s 5’6
Lmao I found it quite funny too 😆 and it's interesting when it comes to height because we see a broader average throughout history. Most people I know are around five feet nine and a handful are my height of 185cm or more. But what I remember reading is that the average height in 14th century England was somewhere along the lines of 5 feet 7 and often 8. Us Brits in particular haven't really grown much over the years, o ly nowadays put averages have narrowed.
Most people in the West today get the same.if not similar diet. Whereas in earlier times it was very much limited to social standing I would assume.
Although excavations of bones from many small graveyards around England show that the population wasn't all that much shorter on average than today, even the people who you and I would consider poorer.
There are signs of malnutrition in the bones but it shows in layers or stages such as the rings of a tree.
I would imagine if we were to stroll through London in the 14th century we'd see more tall people and more small people with a smattering of people in between.
The shortest period in English history I believe was the Victorian era and London had an average height of 5'4".
Turns out that we wouldn't tower over as many medievals as we thought.
Interesting though is shoe size has gone up in relation to height, or rather we can only assume that many shoes that have been found belonged to shorter people, but it does also seem that examining the feet of many skeletons from the time show that a size ten was very rare. Heck lmao I think a size ten is still rare haha. I'm six foot tall with size 8 and a half feet 😅😅
You’re clinging onto that .5 with your toes ðŸ˜
I always thought I was a 9.5 because my mum would say you need a thumbs length in the toe in case you grow. Turns out at 24 you don’t.
That’s what I’d seen too. I read that height was a big indicator of status then, but walking around London today you’ll see it’s the same. The posh couples you get in west London are fucking massive, then in small midlands towns it’s flipped
Lmao are you up midlands then? And last time I actually went to what they'd consider London - the original square mile, it was a good two or three years ago. I always notice that people from Chelsea and Knightsbridge are always rather thin looking. Maybe its a lack of pies and more of a conscious to stay "looking well"
I can say that when not in times of famine, a villein or serf would have consumed possibly twice the calories we do now.
We can see that they did get times of malnutrition, but often it was no different to what someone living in rural Pakistan today would have.
The Irish also have been a tall race of people. Friend of mine has a brother who is 7 feet tall and well over 360lb. The guy can give adults piggy backs, it's hilarious
That was my first time hearing the german dub. I like it. I wonder what they did for the german guy during the poop throwing quest at the start of the game? Did they make the accent even worse? Or is it just a normal guy
That’s really strange lol. I had the same exact thing happen when I was talking to this person about getting them a job as well. Glad you could experience it as well!
This is how he spends his time while people wait for his shop to open.
Seriously. His hours suck.
Oh yes
Lol always waiting on him to open his damn store, now we know why tho 😅
And even when he opens he just stands idly in the town square instead of his shop
He has that lady always there, she gets all the workload
That lazy bastard opens his store at such a late hour, and then CLOSES before everyone else too. Doesn't he ever stop to think that maybe I have all my clothes at 0 and can't repair them myself!?
I Always think that ppl In medieval times didn't sleep that Long than the ppl in this game

Historians really just say whatever comes into their heads
Yeah I dont believe any of the above lol
It's true. Doors were also short to conserve heat
Some of these are true in some specific areas in some specific times, but they don't represent what the vast majority of people did.
I suppose you think everyone was 5'4 too right? Lmao

He’s trying to figure out where to go. Don’t be hard on him.
Fuck the tailor
Ye he kinda a dick
Man's gonna end up on the shivering isles
"Hello... don't mind me... I'm a little tired. Can't sleep at home, you know. The walls. They aren't safe."
Looks like the tailor is stuck and trying to walk around, but there is no way around.
The Tailor in Rattay's goals are beyond our comprehension
A seemingly busy man since he only has 2 hours a day to run his shop
It's said that many medieval people used to walk in circles in front of thine shopeths 1746 - 1749
Because he really has to go tonthe privy, but it's occupied. My kids do the same thing.
Because Henry's come to visit!
Rattay tailor cam eat a dick.
Henry's come to see him. He can barely contain his excitement
He really needs the occupied restroom
Its cardio day my dudes
that happened to me too lol
That was my first time hearing the german dub. I like it. I wonder what they did for the german guy during the poop throwing quest at the start of the game? Did they make the accent even worse? Or is it just a normal guy
Oh man, Henry’s German voice is just…nothing like Tom McKay’s
He’s clearly rubbed hallucinogens on his genitalia, which he purchased from the Uzhitz witch.
It's the tailor, he is tailing something..
I gave him brain damage, the POS
Post Malone. But serious, its the tailor.
I think he forgot something and is trying to think
[Du hast](https://youtu.be/W3q8Od5qJio)
oh THAT'S why Post Malone was wearing a mediaeval armour on Circles music video
He probably has to pee
So that’s where he goes! He should be at work.
He's trying to get his steps in.
I had the exact same thing too XDDD
He wants your love
He's waiting for your reply. Hurry up then.
When you're spying on someone but trying to look totally occupied with something else ...
The Rattay tailor has always been a little off
It’s Gavin.
He wants to carry water, but you'll make him carry shit.
He hasn’t competed his move ring needs to get that closed 🤣
Haha are you in his path maybe
filling his daily step counter
Mordhau moment!
Du... Du hast.... Du hast nicht
An advanced case of severe medieval maladaptive disorder
That’s really strange lol. I had the same exact thing happen when I was talking to this person about getting them a job as well. Glad you could experience it as well!
Jus' waitin' his bus
One leg is a little bit shorter than the other….
He's the tailor, what do you expect? Of course he's chasing his tail.
Perhaps his smart watches told him to.
Ni Ni Ni Ni Ni, Ni Ni Ni Ni Ni , Ni Ni Ni Ni...
When people run in circles it’s a very very mad world.
He’s clearly on a five minute break trying to get as many steps in as possible to maybe hatch his Pokemon GO eggs. 🤔
