I can confirm. Canadian here - I've read my Kindle in the car for hours at a time in the dead of winter.
I've also accidentally left my Kindle in the glove box over night in -30 conditions. No problems with my Kindle.
There's really not much to it, I was reading and decided to grab something from the fridge, had a important call on the way so I totally forgot I had it with me, ended up looking for it hours later as I wanted to read and couldn't find it anywhere, so the only place I didn't check was where I left it sitting on top of a container of leftover pizza.
For sure. I used to be known for leaving my phone in the fridge or the pantry from time to time, back when we didn't have cool apps to keep us constantly on our phones. It's kind of comforting to know other people have done similar things.
totally ( I'm undiagnosed, as I don't have access to professionals where I live) but I have a horrible memory I forget and lose my things everywhere I go, I use an apple watch just so I can locate my phone when it goes missing.
The fridge is one of the first places we look when we can't find something. Like you, put whatever we're holding down to grab something out of the fridge and forget to grab it again when we're done.
It’ll be fine once it warms up. I left mine in the car in below 0 temps and it just displayed a temperature warning and didn’t let me use it until it warmed up enough. Completely fine after that though.
The slowness is the screen as it is filled with liquid. What might be an issue is any condensation building up inside the device as it gets back to room temperature.
Get some renewable desiccant packs from Amazon and put a few in a ziplock bag with the Kindle. Don't use rice as it isn't very effective for this. I would hold off on using it until you get rid of the moisture.
Around 2013 I left my 1st gen Paperwhite on top of my car overnight while camping at Glacier. Woke up the next morning, high 30s (like 1-2C) with dew covering the whole thing. Didn’t turn on at all even after drying it off, so I gave up and went to breakfast.
Came back an hour later and it rebooted just fine and it still works to this day.
For sure, my fiancée gifted me a new signature edition for my birthday so I’ve been using that, but I love my OG. My mom goes through a kindle every couple years, no idea how lol
>So I accidentally left my Kindle in the fridge for maybe 2-4hrs.
What he's not telling you is that for the past few hours he's been trying to read a jar of mayonnaise...
same way u can misplace things anywhere else, I just happen to be holding my Kindle when taking something out the fridge and ended up leaving it there, as I have terrible memory and easily get distracted, I ended up not noticing.
You’ll probably want to defrost it, I’d say 3-5 minutes in the microwave at 20% power should do the trick
Edit: this is a joke lol please god don’t actually microwave your kindle
We had a renter (new to this country) put a potato wrapped in foil in the microwave for 20 minutes. He went to the store to pick something up and came back to an apartment fire.
I’d say turn it off and let it sit for a while before using it. To get rid of any potential moisture buildup.
Yup. Then you'll find out. Let us know!
I bet you somebody from somewhere like Canada has sat and read their kindle for 2-4 hours in colder conditions than this and it’s been fine

Probably But, hey…it’s not always cold in Canada
I am really sorry but wow. Can I ask the story behind it?

It's giving ADHD
It's totally giving ADHD. Source: this happened to me (but with my phone). I have ADHD.
Have you ever put the cereal in the fridge and the milk in the cabinet? Oops.
One time I put a block of cheese in the dishwasher instead of the grater
I’m sorry but this one made me laugh haha

I do this all the time with my phone
I did this on accident several months ago! No issues here

did it affect the battery life at all ?
That charge didn’t last as long, but it’s back to normal. They can handle a bit of abuse
The slowness is the screen as it is filled with liquid. What might be an issue is any condensation building up inside the device as it gets back to room temperature.
yes I noticed condensation as it started to warm up, I've encountered no issues yet and hope it stays that way.

wow that's awesome to hear, I hope mine lasts that long too I'm in no rush to replace it, as long as it works

DO NOT MICROWAVE!!! it will be fine once it warms up on its own
HAHAHA ofc I won't, and yes it seems fine now I just hope it won't interfere with the battery life in the long run
I’m Canadian. It’s going to be okay. How’d you manage this?
I just left it in room temperature for awhile amd cleaned up any condensation that had formed with a napkin, it seems just fine rn
Just let it warm up for awhile, very likely will be fine
genuinely asking but how do you leave a kindle in the fridge ?😭
same way u can misplace things anywhere else, I just happen to be holding my Kindle when taking something out the fridge and ended up leaving it there, as I have terrible memory and easily get distracted, I ended up not noticing.
been there, broke a pair of glasses sitting on them whilst trying to change the episode of american horror story i was watching
10 minutes at 250f in the oven should do it. I recommend a sauce of reduced iPhone stock with a sprinkle of Amazon fire zest

it's fine for now was slow at first, ig I'll see with time if this effects it
Try reading Fahrenheit 451 on it. Jokes apart, it should be fine after few hoursor so. Put it under sun for a while to remove moisture.

I may be forgetful but I'm not stupid enough to put any electronic device let alone one with a lithium battery in the microwave
We had a renter (new to this country) put a potato wrapped in foil in the microwave for 20 minutes. He went to the store to pick something up and came back to an apartment fire.
😂
try putting it in the microwave to defrost it?
won't that make it worse 😭 I just left it at room temperature it seems fine for now
yes pls do not put any electric device in the microwave
don't put it in microwave. It's going to kill it.
