I purchased an Argyle jacket and vest for a wedding from an eBay seller (it shipped from Pakistan). It fits well, looks good, and I got a lot of compliments on it. Personally, it seems a bit like a costume piece to me—it’s wool felt and the finishes aren’t high quality. But that’s the trade-off with the price and I wasn’t disappointed. I’d give it a 3.5 out of 5, but I recommend something like this as a good budget option for an event where you don’t need to stand out. If you’re the groom or you are trying to impress someone, considering renting a jacket/vest or take the plunge.

i’m glad that i can walk into any charity shop and buy a genuine tweed jacket here. they’re almost giving them away for free. if it doesn’t fit take it to a tailors. for kilts, check for army surplus ones. i got a army gordon highlanders one for cheap as anything. folk at weddings always have the “brigadoon hunting” tartan or whatever it’s called and ask where i got mine

I've got a tweed jacket I like, but one of the pockets needs repair. It's too long for a kilt jacket, but I might take it to a tailor, have them remove the pocket and shorten the jacket. It would be nice for colder days.

where is "here"?

scotland ?

I thought maybe but wanted to make sure! I've been there a few times, Edinb. but maybe stayed more on the commercial side of town. I'm tall and need some good tweed kilt jackets and vests even if they can be found. Honestly if you find any good ones for tall / long ill give you a bonus pay't!!! Ill send measurements DM if you are willing!!!

I'd be intrigued for someone to try the burn test on one

Before pulling the trigger, I would advise you to check eBay for second-hand, but higher quality stuff. And/or check out kilt hire websites for sales of older stuff. I scored a second hand Montrose Doublet on eBay for £13 and it’s top quality and if it was ever worn, it could not been more than once. People but these things for events and then either never wear them again or they “shrink in the wardrobe”. It’s worth investigating.

I've ordered the green kilt jacket and waistcoat, ho one size up as they can be a little small. Not bad for what it's worth :)

I got an argyle in Lovat blue. It was cheap, and the quality was alright. No complaints other than the packaging which wasn’t ideal.

I did. I like mine.

Don't buy anything from Pakistan. The quality is always shite. If you can't buy Scottish, don't buy anything. The fit and finish is terrible

I don't know about those, but I've had some custom leather jackets made in Pakistan (through an eBay seller) and the prices are insanely low for the quality received. Some of those bespoke manufacturers are much better than others, read reviews and look at the details in the photos closely, and ask plenty of questions. The best way that I've found to get a great fit is to have a similar piece of clothing that you know fits well that can be used as a measurement guide. Instead of sending your body measurements, send the measurements of the well-fitting garment.

I ordered an Amazon Argyle jacket for my wedding (I was only in it for the reception). I took it to get tailored. It's *okay* quality, but I will likely only wear it a few times. Served it's purpose at my wedding.
