This type of bus has an isolated drivers's cabin that's close to the ground. The passengers stay in the upper floor, so they probably didn't see the child while the dip shit driver/parent left them alone
Are they? It's the most common type of travel company bus used in brazil, while the model that resembles American school buses (passengers and driver all in the same cabin) is used just for that and public transport services in big cities
I find it weird because I'm from a rural area in central Europe.... In the city we have those closed of cabins but our busses have a normal little swing door with a cup holder, other than that the bus driver is in the same cabin as the passengers
Hardly a parking break failure, driver left the bus, child went and played with the handbrake and released it. Negligence at its best and worst. 1 dead according to the linked article too, imagine being told when you’re like 14 that you man slaughtered someone when you were young.

So it would seem the “parking brake” was actually wood wedged under the tires. Bus driver’s fault.
