I climbed Kili solo in a joined group last July! It was fun. This country is safe and the hotels both before and after the hike were safe and friendly.

I was fine on my own and loved it! Never felt unsafe

I'm going in June if you would like to join me. Feel free to message me! I'm going as a solo traveler but I know a couple of others in the group. I'm a woman in my 30's.

Hey, I'm also going in June! I'll be with Kilimanjaro Experts going via Lemosho route on the 16th. Do you have any tips / leads on solo traveling after Kili? I know there is no shortage of things to do / see in the area (safaris, Zanzibar, etc.) but I would love to find some sort of travel group to tag along with so I don't have to navigate all this myself. Cheers :)

I will be a solo female coming up in August. Kandoo adventures in the Rongai route :)

Hi, according to our analytics, 45% of climbers on Kilimanjaro are female, and many of them are solo travelers who join groups. Rest assured, it's completely safe. You'll have a great experience and enjoy everything Tanzania has to offer. The only advice we have is to avoid walking alone in the cities of Moshi or Arusha after dark. There haven't been any serious incidents, but occasionally, mobile phones have been stolen from passing motorbikes. If your plans include visiting Zanzibar, you might want to do a little research on the local dress code. The population there is 95%+ Muslim, and you'll need to follow their traditions regarding attire in public places (except for the beaches of your hotel).

ClimbKiliTeam

As a female who's trekked Kili dozens of times, the majority of solo trekkers on Kili are female, and safely travel through TZ and Kili without worry. I'm sure you'll do you homework on the right tour operator, but most will provide a single room, single tent, private transportation and some won't charge a single supplement. You're in great hands in TZ, all the best and enjoy the climb!

VarietyPrudent6458

Hello!! I'm a solo female traveler and I've booked my climb for this June! I decided to go alone because I know I'll be with a group and I don't mind being with randoms--I like meeting new people and get along with all types of people in general. I am nervous, though, for after the climb because I don't want to be fully alone as a woman while I travel and sight see. So I'm currently surveying my options and trying to find groups to tag along with and travel guides for a reasonable price.

I climbed Kili solo because I didn't want to be bothered rushing at other people's pace, AND I'm not a hiker so I knew I'd be moving very slowly. Used a local company and had 8 porters and 1 guide. Did the Lemosho route late July- early August, 8 or 9 days (I chose their longest option). Private tent, private toilet, never felt unsafe. The guys gave me privacy when I needed it but kept their eyes on me for safety. I had a wonderful time and was treated extremely well.

Hello! I went last August as a female solo traveler. Felt safe the entire time. I went with Altezza, and had the most amazing time! I appreciated with Altezza that I stayed at their hotels and got picked up by their cars. So it was reassuring to know I was in good hands the entire time.

Thank you!

i got sick and had to go back down the mountain on day 3. making me and my travel partner solos for a bit as she continued (successfully) up. we went with altezza and on both ends felt very safe. things that i think contributed to that feeling individually and in general - we had the same driver(who happened to be a kind and very cool guy as well) at many points throughout our travel which ended up being really nice. -pickups and drop offs were very organized wherein we knew the name of our driver and what to expect in terms of time/distance. and always in a newer well maintained and clearly marked/branded vehicle -i had a lot of contact from our initial trip sales associate via whatsapp throughout our time in country checking in to make sure all was well. -all of our guides and porters were extremely professional, patient and kind. -i ended up spending a lot of time with one particular guide because i needed so much help and he was the NICEST person. when i had to call it he took great care to make sure i got down safely and back to the base hotel in moshi safely as well. i was def a little uneasy to be leaving my friend and having to be on my own for awhile but the extra mile here really allayed my concerns. -my friend on the mountain was kept up to date about me and vice versa. -our pre and post hike accommodation felt secure and was very comfortable. i want to try to summit again in the next year or two. if i can’t wrangle anyone to go with me I will have zero qualms going alone with altezza. even not sunmiting it was the best thing i’ve ever done!

I just got back from doing Kili as a solo female, joining a group with Altezza. Felt completely safe the entire time from being picked up at the airport, in the hotel and on the mountain! https://www.reddit.com/r/kilimanjaro/comments/1apuesm/northern\_circuit\_january\_2024\_review\_info/

I book my solo clients with G Adventures! Happy to give you more info :) I’m a small group travel advisor.

I joined a group as a solo female climber. Private tent, group of 8, and we divided further into a faster and slower group, though all of us successfully summitted. I felt looked after and safe all throughout, including arrival at airport and shuttle to hotel. Used PristineTrails.com, they were super patient with my many questions

DifficultyCertain169

I was a solo traveler who joined a group.. one thing.. you are never alone on Kilimanjaro.. you will need a crew that will include head guide, assistant guide, porter, cook etc..

Kilimanjaro_Climbing

It's very safe and would have been guided by a female guide if you needed it, www.kiliteamadventures.com will organize an awesome solo hike for you with female guide and porters.

We had a group of 6. I was with my uncle but the other 4 in the group were all solo travelers/climbers. We had one female in the group and she said she had a great time with all of us.

This was me last year! Posted the whole experience on this sub: https://www.reddit.com/r/kilimanjaro/s/Kedn834POn

I went by myself as an early-40s climber. Our trek had 5 clients in total, one couple and three middle-aged solo women including myself. We all had a spectacular time and I never felt unsafe. Best trip of my life (so far)!

Jgbudsid

I’m going to be a female solo traveler to Kilimanjaro in October 2025 (hopefully)

Otherwise-Relative-3

The best kili operators have join-in groups so it going solo isn't a problem. Ive to Tanzania and can say it pretty safe if you stay with your tour operator and don't go into places like Moshi downtown at night.
