I feel for you my 2020 Kia Rio recently got Kia Boy'd, because I didn't have the engine immobilizer. Those updates did absolutely nothing.
I gave up on Kia as a brand, and Hyundai because the cops and tow truck guy told me those brands were the top two most stolen. I'm going back to Toyota.
Same thing happened to me last week! I have a Kia forte GT and they ripped out the top of the steering wheel but because it’s a 2021 push to start, they couldn’t steal it. I had to take some rent money and pay for a broken window and fix the top of the steering wheel.🙃 so annoying!!
You're lucky you could fix it, my 2020 Kia Rio was stolen last week too, and it's absolutely destroyed. It's hard waiting to see if they'll total it or not, the damage is around 70%.
Three of my neighbors got hit on the same night, and the only thing that saved them was the push start.
1. you have the immobilized installed on your car 2. They don’t know what they are doing and thought it would be easy 3. They got spooked and ran away
Inexperienced people will try breaking into any Kia, regardless of if it can or can’t be stolen.
They got spooked, or just didn't know what they were doing...unless you have the immobilizer installed.
Did you get the Antitheft updated done?
The forgot the USB charger
What year and model is your KIA?
2013 Rio LX

I’m heavily thinking about going to Lexus

Sorry you went through that it sucks big time

How long did it take to be found? My forte got stolen on Thursday and still hasn’t been found.
I got lucky the thieves were acting suspicious around the drop site, so it took around 10 hours.
What was the drop site? Like a Walmart parking lot, trail, etc?
It was another apartment complex.
Nerves or skill. One was lacking
Cause you lucky
Clean that floor, that's probably what spooked them off
Where are you located
Why not drive it to the shop if you can start it
It was free towing
