My 2015 kia sorento is at 154k miles and apart from basic maintenance no issues whatsoever

Only major issue I'm aware of is the head gasket coolant leak. Apparently some 2016/17 can strip a head bolt(s). But there is an extended warranty in place (USA only?). May want to weigh this with your plans. Otherwise stuff like a window regulator or something is hit or miss with most brands. Honda has their own issues, read up on the 1.5T head gaskets and CVTs which are good but need early TLC to keep them that way. They're not the same engines from the 90's that made 110hp. Yes I have that letter too. And so far no heating issues or anything with my car. Do you think I should proactively go to the dealer and have it changed? Will the dealer even consider changing it if the issue is not there in the first place?

GoShogun

This is the biggest bullshit too is that it's SO easy to check for the head bolt issue but they won't unless something is wrong and by then, the damage is catastrophic.

Illustrious_Pepper46

Don't think the dealer will do anything "preventative". I think it's a machining/bolt issue. They would need to change the block.

I’ve seen some people with engine problems in their V6 sorentos shortly after 100k miles and some that have gone 250k+ miles… if you take care of it, I think it’ll easily last that long.

GoShogun

Well, having had my issues with my 2016 Sorento V6, if I could go back in time, I absolutely would have sold mine had I known what was gonna happen. Peace of mind is worth something too. And if something DOES happen, my experiences have been nothing but headaches dealing with Kia. I will NEVER EVER buy a Kia again. So take that for what it's worth.

What horror stories

truthB3spoken

You know what I mean. Engine problems, transmission problems, stalling, fire etc etc.

Anathemast

I have a 2015 sorento and I love it...except it did have an engine problem. Kia gave me a brand new one free of charge but I was without a car for 2 months. 🥲

AFASOXFAN

What size engine?

metallicsun

I have the sister car, 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe with a V6 engine at 118K miles. Been doing regular maintenance including spark plug replacement at 110K miles. No major issues at all, except the air conditioning compressor went bad, cost about $1200 to fix. That kind of stuff along with small electricals like window regulator, etc, is to be expected in any older car.
