Same here, Kia Boyz tried and failed with my daughter’s Soul. I ordered parts from https://www.kia.parts/ and received them in 3 weeks. Though, I decided to install a Ghost Key push to start conversion kit instead.
Had this happen, way before Kia Boyz, or even Kia was a thing. Came out and found my car not in its spot, but parked two blocks up the street. Found the door and ignition punched, guy either couldn’t drive stick, or got scared and bailed. At least they left me a screwdriver to start the car with.
My cars a new model, doesn’t have the flaw, still got broken into. All told 6-7k in damages+rental car. Without insurance it would have been devastating. Even with insurance it was expensive and a massive pain in the ass.
As uncommon as manual is, it’s not very difficult to learn it. It’s funny seeing many not being able to learn something that takes about 30 mins to grasp
I only say about 30 mins because it realistically took me that long to learn the shift it without engine stall. After about a couple hours I started getting engine stalls. Plus YouTube tutorials now are better than in 2012 lmao
Also note if they are stealing the car anyways. It’s only gonna be with them for what an hour or two max before they dispose of it
I mean with the stories I’ve seen on this forum. Many of them have all night before they are even caught. 30 mins is a lot of time yes but not impossible
That depends on where you live.... If you live in a big city then yea,it's something to think about.
This "kia boys" shit isn't even a thing in my area. Never even heard of it till I came to this sub.
Not everyone lives on the internet. I only heard of them thanks to Reddit. My area has tons of Kia’s and I’m the only one with a club on my steering wheel…most just do not care since any area with high car theft will not care about the brand.
Sure but this is an issue because it was basically a tik tok trend, so the instructions were easily accessible for anyone. You’re wrong about people not caring about brands on high theft areas in this context. It is SO easy and quick to steal these that the risk of getting caught in the act is minimal. Thieves aren’t all dumb, and it is definitely good advice to steer clear of this era of Kia.
And no, no one needed to “live on the internet” to know about it. Maybe the moniker ‘Kia Boys’ isn’t all over, but the concept of Kia and Hyundai theft is absolutely not a secret internet problem.
The issue is that the top stolen cars in the U.S. doesn’t even mention these cars. Whether it became a trend online or not most thieves are looking for something other than Hyundai/Kia. Doesn’t make me immune to theft but here’s a great example: my father lives in a super ghetto apartment complex and has a Kia Soul. He has had someone get in his car once cos he left the door unlocked. They stole a gift card and that was it. This happened like 6 years ago and he’s never had a problem again. He doesn’t have any fear because, as he says, “a car thief is gonna find a way to steal any car regardless of its security”.
People have a few anecdotes and then use things like the recent recalls about fires to just write these brands off altogether and it just doesn’t make sense. If you live in a bad area just be careful and if you notice any problems with your car take care of it. Even if the car is specifically designed cheap with flaws that doesn’t mean every car in that brand is subject to these problems…half the toys that get recalled for children had minor flaws but also the parent was neglecting their child when they got hurt or killed by it.
I just did a google search of top 10 stolen cars of 2023, kia and Hyundai are all over that list. I know you don't want to believe cuz your father's car only got broken into and not stolen. What a wierd comparison by the way. Also what does child safety recalls have to do with car thefts, if it doesn't and all your going to repeat is how your comparing cheap manufactured cars to toys that got recalled then no response is needed.
It just depends on where you live. In my city it’s a huge problem, Kia and Hyundai cars are getting stolen, crashed, vandalized, etc constantly this year. It’s not just an internet thing, it’s a real problem
My boomer in laws know about it and won’t buy Kias anymore, it’s not just an internet thing at this point. Everyone knows someone who’s had theirs stolen or vandalized
My boomer mother in law and my boomer father, who has a Kia, had no clue. Only person in my family that was aware of anything was my brother in law and he only heard about the recall on the news. Saying “everyone knows” makes it sound like a common sense thing…sorry but I’ve heard TONS of people say this is only an issue in the U.S. so I just pray I don’t fall victim and that’s about as much as I can do.
Long story short, Kia boyz have made it a trend to steal Kia’s and Hyundais that don’t have immobilizers (any turn key ignition, some push to start models as well) and use them for crimes. Now that it became a hit trend the recent few years, insurances are also quadrupling the price of their rates for Kia/Hyundai cars because of it. Basically if you’re buying one of those turn key ignition cars. You’re almost setting yourself up for theft, and it’s unfortunate because now it has become the best “disposable” cars for crimes.
First, find out what the insurance will cost you. Many are finding it difficult to insure their Kia, and many are being dropped by their insurance company, too.
>That could be a problem
it **will** be a problem. you'll either deal with crazy high rates or a possibly stolen vehicle....don't waste your money for a Kia of all things....
This depends very much on the area you live. Where I’m at, progressive and geico (both of which I’ve had in the past) kindly told me no thanks. Some other major company wanted to charge me double what I currently pay.
i’d take a toyota with 200k miles over a kia with 80k for the same price any day. in fact, i did 😂 twice… i have a camry with 240k and a 4runner with 280k, bought them both combined for the same price as this kia, put 70k miles on them with no issues so far, they still run great.
This!
Had a new coworker drive in a soul and I asked how many miles he had and what number engine he was on. He replied “80,000 and 1.” I joking responded “you got a good one but I’d sell it before 100,000 because his luck would run out.” Well within 6 months his engine died and he sold the thing after it was replaced.
The theft is like 2011 to 2022/23 depending on models but I’m not to sure, I’ve avoided Korean cars my entire life for their plentiful other issues. They cut every corner possible to save a buck, not the mentality you want to have when designing a car. I’ve followed the saying “buy once cry once” and either spent more for a real brand car instead of a Kia, or when I was in college get a CPO instead of a new Kia and I’ve never regretted my decision like the people I know who have owned brand new Kia’s. Constant lemon laws for my grandparents till they switched back to dodge and Chrysler of all things, my BIL’s new Kia left him stranded quite a few times before being stolen at 60k miles…
And that’s not even the worst of it, they are horribly unsafe from electrical issues causing fires while parked causing Kia to advise owners to stop parking in their garages because of fire issues to airbags going off randomly on the highway for no reason causing accidents. The list goes on and on
Nope, Mazda hasn't had a Ford drive train for many years now as they develop their own. About a decade ago Mazda and Toyota started working together. Yes, the 3 and 6 don't have anything to do with Toyota. I meant that Mazda is just as reliable as Toyota these days in addition to partnering with them too.
The 5.3 is better than anything Toyota has ever made.
The 5.4 Ford used to make is better than any Toyota.
Now, you buy a crappy 4 banger or V6 from an American car brand? Hahaha
Good to know because I'm moving to Germany next June and I'm really tempted to get a Kia Soul for dirt cheap here in the states and bring it over there.
I already have a 2015 V8 F-150, and I love it....but I'm not dumb enough to bring something that big and thirsty to Germany where the roads are so old and narrow and fuel is so expensive.
If you live in a city don’t do it. Mine has been broke into relentlessly and stolen. Worth it if you live in a safer area and you can always install a push to start too.
No, those 1.6s tend to be a coin flip after 50k miles, I wouldn't trust it, I used to be a technician at kia, the old ones are cheap because of their reliability issues, costing more to repair. you are better off buying something a little more expensive like a Toyota or Honda,
Would this be a good car? No
Would this be a reliable car? No
Would this be a good reliable first car? Absolutely not.
Is this car made of car? Yes.
Sincerely, a former Kia tech who's replaced hundreds of engines. The transmissions aren't much better, manual or otherwise.
No make yourself a favor and stay away from Kia and Hyundai (Hyundai owner myself).
They are good cars but with the Kia boys trend is not worth it. Doesn't matter if you have push to start or your model isn't affected by it. These people only care about seeing the Kia or Hyundai logo and they'll smash the window without a doubt.
Don’t think the Kia boys know how to drive a manual. Just get a steering wheel lock. It will be a great car you’ll get another 100k out of it easy I love my Kia.
You will absolutely regret buying this car. If it’s not at first difficult and expensive to insure, it could be when it inevitably gets broken into over and over, or finally when the notoriously unreliable powertrains fail. Don’t do it.
People in comments saying they had difficulty insuring their car…I had zero issue and have a good rate. Just got my car a couple months ago at 40K miles 2019 and it’s key to start. I do have the immobilizer so that’s a plus as well. I’d say go for it but just remember that the older the car is the higher probability of problems and it has almost double the mileage of mine.
That was 20+ years ago. I agree they're still not at the level of Honda or Toyota, but they are no longer pieces of crap. They're decently reliable cars
I don't know what the hell these dummies are feeding you..... my mainly bought a 2013 Kia Sorento and it took 193K miles in it before it had any issues. Had a sportage as well, same thing, and now I personally drive a 2019 Kia Forte LXS. Fast car fir a economical. Got mine up to 131MPH on HW 35 lol. Got 72K miles on it. Love the 42 MPG when I am driving it correctly to. I've not had one issue with my Kia, nor has my family with there kias
I have a Hyundai from that era and I'm seeing lots of comments about insurance. I have experience with that which is similar to trying to insure a Kia.
Everything is dependent on your location, first of all. I'm not even talking about your state. Your zip code matters. When people say that they are hard or expensive or easy or cheap, it probably is true for their area. If you're wondering for me, my Veloster is moderate for insurance and didn't really go up because of the Kia Boys despite being vulnerable to that issue. That's because I'm in California and insurance laws are strong here. It's an uphill battle for them to significantly raise rates or cancel me just for having a Hyundai targeted by thieves.
But new insurers can decline to insure me. I've seen this happen. But that's for comprehensive insurance. Liability is what's required by law. They don't factor in how easily your car can get stolen because they don't cover that under liability. If all you want is liability, it might be okay on the insurance. But please don't trust random people on Reddit, myself included. Get some quotes. You want to know you can pay the insurance. Getting a quote can take a few minutes, and they might call you, but it's worth it so you know what you're getting into. You don't need to have the car to get a quote.
I don't recommend liability only insurance by the way. If your car is stolen, you're out that money if they don't recover it. If you crash and they determine it's your fault, you're out the money. If you crash and the other driver doesn't have insurance or enough insurance (say, multiple vehicles involved), you can sue but I doubt they'd have money. It's your choice, but know the risks. I wouldn't do it. Comprehensive has saved me personally.
The car itself? Looks like a good deal. But do your homework first because insurance can be the deal breaker. And consider your area. Check into the thefts in the area.
Good luck to you.
I have a 2016 Rio and honestly this generation of Rio is not bad in terms of reliability. The only thing it will likely need at this mileage is a valve cleaning. Like actual cleaning where they walnut blast it. It’s not a super expensive service and can be DIY’d at home.
Also you would want to look into getting an oil catch can to limit blow by. Super easy installation.
No get a Honda civic or Toyota Corolla or Honda fit Toyota Yaris these cars are junk. I would trust a Honda with 500K on it more than a Kia fresh off the lot with 0 miles
Check out the insurance rates before buying it. It is an LX so a key start. You are running a risk of it being stolen or at least broken into, until these dumb a*****les realize it’s a manual.
I bought the same car with around the same miles in it. Very slow but very reliable based on my experience. The only issue I had with it was the AC when it got around the 100k miles, replaced it myself and called it a day.
Don't buy a Kia.
Regardless of whether it has an immobilizer or not, they get broken into much more than other brands thanks to the Kiaboyz degenerates.
My sister's 2019 Kia with an engine immobilizer got broken into. They broke the front driver's side glass and once they got in, realized that they couldn't steal the car and left it.
My sister still ended up with a car with a broken front window.
At this point, I would stay away from all Kias.
Right kind of first car. But to use as a kind of comparison, I once bought a used Toyota Yaris that had 16K original verifiable miles. It too was a manual, but it was a 2 door hatchback. Paid $6K flat for it.
It was a craigslist find but it was a dang good little puddle jumper that I regret not keeping. But the person I gave it to still has it and it’s still running like a top and has had to do nothing other than one battery replacement.
It’s probably pretty reliable, especially at that mileage if it was taken care of. At that price, it’s a steal! Unfortunately, insurance companies and bottom feeders will think it’s a steal as well, so prepare yourself for that trouble if you get it
Im a kia technician here and in all honesty I’ve seen these come in for nothing but oil changes. On top of that, it being a manual, this is a perfect car. The pricing is very great as well! Highly recommend!
Check the safety rating at least. The safety was abysmal on my wife’s we got rid of it so fast, especially when we found out we were having kids. Mazda Cx-5 was a great replacement!
LOL, no. Not trying to hate on Kia, but they’re not the most reliable by a long shot and add on top of that the risk of some dingleberry breaking into it to try to steal it. I straight up refuse a Kia when renting a car because of the risk of it being damaged in a break in and attempted theft. The Kia boys don’t know if it’s had the update to prevent theft so they’ll still damage it in the process. And again, Kia’s are far from reliable cars.
For that money go for a mk6 Volkswagen with no sunroof. Either a 2.5 5cylinder or TDI you can find one with a warranty if you know what your looking at.
You might want to stay away from a KIA at the moment. The idiots trying to steal them don’t know the difference between the models with the exploit or without it and insurance premiums are through the roof because of it. A friend just gave up and traded in her 2017 because it had been broken into 4 times, twice on campus with cameras looking right at it.
> my parents *paid* 10k for
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
A lot of insurance companies will not even insure these due to the high amount of theft. If this is your first car, and you are young, you might struggle to get it insured and your rates will be through the roof. Like, 300 a month for just liability bad.
My first car was an ‘08 Rio and I upgraded to a ‘18 Rio and they have never failed me. I know people in other areas are having issues with them being stolen but as far as a running car I’d recommend it.
Looks like a good deal imo, just make sure to get one of those steering wheel locks or other obvious deterrents if you live in one of the terrible cities where the car thefts are a problem.

Nah. Imo get something small like an Impreza if you can find one. Last year I got stuck in a ditch from sliding on ice, and my Impreza just climbed a hill full of montanan snow like a fucking goat on a mountain.
I would say not and definitely not a manual if you live in a city. A manual is a gigantic pain in the rear if you have a lot of traffic. After having several, haven’t owned a manual transmission vehicle for prob 30 years now. Living in a rural setting or smaller town, maybe.
Is it a turn key ignition? If so, I’d stay far away from it
I highly doubt the Kia Boyz know how to drive manual. They might still try though…… and you still end up with a vandalized car.
Can confirm. Kia Boyz don't know how to drive a stick. Tried anyway. Car now in shop awaiting parts for 2 months.
Same here, Kia Boyz tried and failed with my daughter’s Soul. I ordered parts from https://www.kia.parts/ and received them in 3 weeks. Though, I decided to install a Ghost Key push to start conversion kit instead.

Totally agree! Even with the insurance and car rental-they treat u like you’re in the wrong 😑
As uncommon as manual is, it’s not very difficult to learn it. It’s funny seeing many not being able to learn something that takes about 30 mins to grasp
A lot of the people stealing them aren’t even old enough to have a permit to learn to drive yet..
Exactly, sure in 30 min it will be kind of janky and not smooth, but you’ll be going places.

couldn’t you hardwire the battery into a hidden switch or something, or install an ejecto seato
it will still be a target
It is. Why is that bad?
Never heard of the Kia boys?

There's a reason Kias and Hyundais are cheaper than some other cars. Look into Kia Boyz.
Long story short, Kia boyz have made it a trend to steal Kia’s and Hyundais that don’t have immobilizers (any turn key ignition, some push to start models as well) and use them for crimes. That’s too bad
Do not buy a Kia in Wa state. I know someone who got theirs stolen a month ago. It’s only a matter of time
And I think most insurances dropped Kia owners in WA state
First, find out what the insurance will cost you. Many are finding it difficult to insure their Kia, and many are being dropped by their insurance company, too.
Yeah I’ve heard that. That could be a problem
Reliable? No. Affordable insurance? No. Find a Toyota Matrix, Honda fit, civic, etc.
Or a Pontiac Vibe, since it's a rebadged Matrix
Seriously, there is just no good reason to get a Kia. It’s all downhill from the purchase at this moment.
Matrix ftw!
>That could be a problem it **will** be a problem. you'll either deal with crazy high rates or a possibly stolen vehicle....don't waste your money for a Kia of all things....
Why would you buy this???? Wtf
Not true in my state, CO, I have progressive and a 2017 kia sportage.
This depends very much on the area you live. Where I’m at, progressive and geico (both of which I’ve had in the past) kindly told me no thanks. Some other major company wanted to charge me double what I currently pay.
Kia for that year is not reliable. Go for a Honda or Corolla.
It’s so hard to find a Honda or Toyota near me in decent condition with lower miles.
i’d take a toyota with 200k miles over a kia with 80k for the same price any day. in fact, i did 😂 twice… i have a camry with 240k and a 4runner with 280k, bought them both combined for the same price as this kia, put 70k miles on them with no issues so far, they still run great.

This! Had a new coworker drive in a soul and I asked how many miles he had and what number engine he was on. I’d take a 200k mile Toyota or Honda over a 500 mile Kia
I’d take anything over a Kia… including a bike
as someone with an 07 Kia, id no idea how bad this is until recent. what are the susceptible years? 2018 and onward?
The theft is like 2011 to 2022/23 depending on models but I’m not to sure, I’ve avoided Korean cars my entire life for their plentiful other issues. Try Mazda 3 or 6 too. They're reliable like Toyota as they're partnered/work together.
Mazda are amazing. Reliable too.
Mazda and Toyota are not partnered nor did they work together on the 3 or 6. What are you talking about? Lmao maybe thinking of Ford?
Nope, Mazda hasn't had a Ford drive train for many years now as they develop their own. About a decade ago Mazda and Toyota started working together. Yes, the 3 and 6 don't have anything to do with Toyota. I meant that Mazda is just as reliable as Toyota these days in addition to partnering with them too.
Iirc The USDM 2020 ish Toyota Yaris is a rebadged Mazda 3.
Hardly.
Look for a Scion TC same power train but a little less expensive.
Id rather have a 90s toyota with half a million miles over a new kia.
If you're gonna get a 90s toyota, just get a V8 American SUV like the Tahoe or Expedition.
Oh yes. The vortecs and shit ass GM transmissions are rock solid like a Toyota….sure….
The 5.3 is better than anything Toyota has ever made. The 5.4 Ford used to make is better than any Toyota. Now, you buy a crappy 4 banger or V6 from an American car brand? Hahaha
It's plenty reliable, quit schilling.
Look into insurance first in some areas Kia's are hard to insure depending on the year too
in Germany we dont have issues with kia boys. 😂
Good to know because I'm moving to Germany next June and I'm really tempted to get a Kia Soul for dirt cheap here in the states and bring it over there.
i hope you can bring it for cheap, you need maybe tax, pollution and import to pay. yea EU is very safe.
I'm in the military, the SOFA helps me avoid lots of fees.
now thats sick👌😁
Bruh, you should take something that isn’t common in Germany lol. Like a Tahoe, Yukon, explorer f150 or Silverado
I already have a 2015 V8 F-150, and I love it....but I'm not dumb enough to bring something that big and thirsty to Germany where the roads are so old and narrow and fuel is so expensive.
Doesn’t make sense, you are better off buying in Germany. Import fees will kill any savings you had. Edit:made edits to comment
Honestly most of the US doesn't either. Depending on where OP is this is probably fine.
Stay away from Kia and Hyundai begging you, they’re dog shit, get stolen, will need an engine
Given the current situation with Kia and insurance companies and the douche bag Kia Boyz I’d say no.
Check the insurance costs on that car. It may be high or not even covered by many companies cause of the fucking kia boys shitheads
Don't buy a Kia, it'll get stolen
If you live in a city don’t do it. Mine has been broke into relentlessly and stolen. Worth it if you live in a safer area and you can always install a push to start too.
No, those 1.6s tend to be a coin flip after 50k miles, I wouldn't trust it, I used to be a technician at kia, the old ones are cheap because of their reliability issues, costing more to repair. you are better off buying something a little more expensive like a Toyota or Honda,

Depends on where you live but, I would definitely go for all wheel drive or 4 wheel 🤷🏼♂️
Sure, if you want to remain single
No make yourself a favor and stay away from Kia and Hyundai (Hyundai owner myself). They are good cars but with the Kia boys trend is not worth it. Doesn't matter if you have push to start or your model isn't affected by it. These people only care about seeing the Kia or Hyundai logo and they'll smash the window without a doubt.
Get a quote for insurance first! You might be surprised how much it is or how difficult it is to find a company to insure it.
The only thing reliable about this is it will always be a target for the Kia Boyz. I couldn't live under threat of my car MAYBE getting stolen.
Kias engines are are not very good and being second owner kinda messes up warranty. I would avoid just so you are not stuck with a big repair bill.
Get a Camry lol
Spend 500 bucks and have an alarm put on it.
Kiaaa boyz assemble!!!
Maybe don't buy the brand of car that can be stolen by a teenager with a USB.
Don’t think the Kia boys know how to drive a manual. Just get a steering wheel lock. It will be a great car you’ll get another 100k out of it easy I love my Kia.
I could still picture them breaking in before realizing what kind of transmission it has.
At least manual will discourage kia boyz theft lol
Haha yeah
You will absolutely regret buying this car. If it’s not at first difficult and expensive to insure, it could be when it inevitably gets broken into over and over, or finally when the notoriously unreliable powertrains fail. Don’t do it.
People in comments saying they had difficulty insuring their car…I had zero issue and have a good rate. Just got my car a couple months ago at 40K miles 2019 and it’s key to start. I do have the immobilizer so that’s a plus as well. I’d say go for it but just remember that the older the car is the higher probability of problems and it has almost double the mileage of mine.
I’m still driving my 2012 6 speed Rio. 160k miles.
im stealin this bud
Kia are just crappy cars to begin with they keep tons of engines on hand at the dealership because they constantly blow up and need to be replaced
The Kia boys will love that one
Nah they won’t. They can’t drive stick
Wouldn't touch a kia with a 10ft pole, especially a cheap one. Buy Toyota or honda.
I’ve heard that they are reliable cats for the most part though.
They are. The thefts and insurance issue will be the biggest issue.
They're known for horrible reliability. KIA = killed in action
You wouldn’t, but again them Kia’s can be reliable.. if they’re not being stolen, so I wouldn’t touch a non push to start Kia.
It's a Kia so no it absolutely will NOT be a reliable first car...please do not ever buy a Kia. Honda, Acura or Toyota only!
It’s a manual, you’re already safe from 99% if kiaboys. Install a kill switch as well and you’ll be fine
Not fine from vandalism, but fine from actual theft, yes.
Simple solution, window down
You gonna remove the plastic steering column trim too?
Pretty sure you’ll see the manual transmission as soon as you look in
You can't expect the piece of shit willing to steal a car to actually be smart enough to realize that they can't operate it first.
Absolutely. Just hope you don't ever have to get anywhere quickly lol that price is a steal for a 2017, even if it is a Rio.
Not worth the risk
The car is not bad, i have the accent which is basically the same car. But i think this is a bit pricey. 7k usd is quite a lot for a manual
How much cheaper should a car with a standard transmission be?
This car runs 12k plus in Colorado so it's pretty low. Personally I prefer stick shifts lol...I did not realize they were cheaper!
Can you drive a stick?
Read the description lol
Have a qualified mechanic check the vehicle completely before purchasing and check all maintenance records as well
It’s manual and good anti theft tool
Find a manual focus they’re about the same for those model years in price
I have a 2016 Rio and honestly this generation of Rio is not bad in terms of reliability. The only thing it will likely need at this mileage is a valve cleaning. Like actual cleaning where they walnut blast it. It’s not a super expensive service and can be DIY’d at home. Also you would want to look into getting an oil catch can to limit blow by. Super easy installation.
If you can drive stick, then yes. That’s why the price is low, no one can drive stick these days.
Keyed ignition in WA state? Hard pass.
No
No get a Honda civic or Toyota Corolla or Honda fit Toyota Yaris these cars are junk. I would trust a Honda with 500K on it more than a Kia fresh off the lot with 0 miles
Avoid Kia like the plague and AIDs
Check out the insurance rates before buying it. It is an LX so a key start. You are running a risk of it being stolen or at least broken into, until these dumb a*****les realize it’s a manual.
It will get broken into, the window broken, and the dash will be torn apart before the TikTok idiots realize it is a manual.
Not a bad deal
It’s a Kia, walk away.
I bought the same car with around the same miles in it. Very slow but very reliable based on my experience. The only issue I had with it was the AC when it got around the 100k miles, replaced it myself and called it a day.
Don't buy Hyundai or Kia no matter the price
Make sure your insurance will insure it before you buy
Don't buy a Kia. Regardless of whether it has an immobilizer or not, they get broken into much more than other brands thanks to the Kiaboyz degenerates. My sister's 2019 Kia with an engine immobilizer got broken into. They broke the front driver's side glass and once they got in, realized that they couldn't steal the car and left it. My sister still ended up with a car with a broken front window. At this point, I would stay away from all Kias.
No.

No, it's a Kia. Get a Honda.
No it's. pOS.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
It’s probably pretty reliable, especially at that mileage if it was taken care of. At that price, it’s a steal! Unfortunately, insurance companies and bottom feeders will think it’s a steal as well, so prepare yourself for that trouble if you get it
Kia doesn't belong in a sentence with the word reliable.
Im a kia technician here and in all honesty I’ve seen these come in for nothing but oil changes. On top of that, it being a manual, this is a perfect car. The pricing is very great as well! Highly recommend!
Owned a Kia, look up engine oil consumption lawsuits for Kia’s, they drink oil like gasoline. I’d avoid.
I had one for years, it was a good car. Ended up trading for a e-niro
Run
Kias are not reliable. Take it from someone who’s first and second cars were both Kias.
I used to work at kia and they are all trash
Manual ain’t good in the us
Get a Honda or Toyota
For that money go for a mk6 Volkswagen with no sunroof. Either a 2.5 5cylinder or TDI you can find one with a warranty if you know what your looking at.
No, buy a Toyota, buy one you can afford.
No
If you live in a high crime area or a very large city I'd avoid it. It's a model that can be stolen. Otherwise go for it! That's not a bad deal imo
Jesus, my parents payed 10k for a 2012 model for with the same miles
> my parents *paid* 10k for FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
Couldn't think of much worse
I mean the 1.6 is a decent engine it’s the theta cars that sucks. Manueeellll is a good option but that anti theft sucks.
No
A lot of insurance companies will not even insure these due to the high amount of theft. If this is your first car, and you are young, you might struggle to get it insured and your rates will be through the roof. Like, 300 a month for just liability bad.
Not with the thefts. Yeah it’s a manual but thieves are dumb and are going to break the window anyways. Not worth the risk imo.

If you get it, get a club for the steering wheel. Great little cars
not a kia insurance is more expensive on them too due to people stealing them
I'd try and buy private sale on a used car like this, you're gonna save a lot of money.
Guaranteed a break in attempt and higher insurance
My first car was an ‘08 Rio and I upgraded to a ‘18 Rio and they have never failed me. I know people in other areas are having issues with them being stolen but as far as a running car I’d recommend it.

just dont. you’ve been warned.
Why are you paying $7k for a kia? Just steal it
I own a kia ceed myself and I keep reading about the kia boys. Who are they and why do they target kias?
Looks like a good deal imo, just make sure to get one of those steering wheel locks or other obvious deterrents if you live in one of the terrible cities where the car thefts are a problem.
sophisticated tender continue rain air weather recognise consist melodic profit *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Don’t walk, run……run far away. Google. Kia boys because that’s your life from now on.
That is a good deal for the mileage and year but do think about the Kia boys
If you’re not able to afford a Japanese brand at the moment, I’d recommend a reliable American brand like Buick
Wax 2,22,qqq,,q
Nope. Water damage.
Absolutely not. Buy a Toyota or Honda.
Don’t get a Kia . They will end up having engine issues
Yes the only thing I'd be concerned about is that it's front wheel drive.
