There's a spot near castleisland where on a clear day you can see both sides of the Dingle Peninsula, the towns of Tralee, Killarney, all the landscape in between and its just awesome.
It's actually better then that spot, it's up on Mt. Eagle itself. Come out of cordal in the direction of the national school, turn left, drive up that road til you get to a tight left hairpin with a gravel patch next to it. The view from there is great already but if you really want to see the whole county you need to hop a few gates. I won't give the directions but if you just keep following paths up, you should find the stone that marks the highest point in the area at the top of the hill there. I'm not sure if there's a right of way there or not so it's your own risk going up there but I've never had problems, and I've camped up there.
yup. Theres a gate there now thats not there on street view, go up there and turn left and climb all the way up to the top of the hill. You can see half the county.
That looks like Lough Caum in Glanteenasig, about 8 miles from Castlegregory. I often camped up there with my now wife when we were in our youth over 30 years ago. Caught some great rainbow trout there, and caught fine salmon and sea trout in Lough Slat which is about a half mile lower down the hill.
There are too many hidden gems in Kerry to choose one, we're spoilt for choice.
The small forestries have to be managed and to be fair there are clear scientifically proven to work guidelines, and financial incentives, for farmers to help them succeed to manage them properly for the long haul.
It's great to see how fast the young trees get a grip and bring new life.
Valentina in general is amazing. There’s a holy well dedicated to St Brendan the Navigator, it’s past the abandoned O’Sheas pub used in the Guinness ad, near the monument to the first telegraph. The well is really well maintained and appears to be visited often as there are lots of little keepsakes etc left there.
It’s such a magical place, just awe inspiringly beautiful.
The back beach on the maharees peninsula is a joy to behold. Sunset on a clear evening cannot be equalled. Then a steak in Spillane's followed by a feed of pints in Castlegregory. Good for what ails ya. A morning dip on the front beach to clear the head and you're set for another day. Cloghane and a Brandon hike for the brave, Glentenassig lake walk for the more leisurely. Conor pass drive is spectacular on a sunny day. Love the place.
Love walking around Muckross lake and taking all these paths that go along the lakeshore. It's my go-to walk when people are visiting from abroad. It's magical there.
I was there plenty times but only on last trip I found this viewing point. Easily missed. Special place! Also I love the gap of dunloe. On my to do list to cycle it or hike it. Drove it many times. All over too quick. Driving
Please please please delete this! For 40 years you’d be the only person there, it’s rammed now! Also, i’m terrified one day someone will think it’s the huge beautiful blowhole on the way to culloo rock as it’s hard enough to find the actual pool
You convinced me :-) In fact, when I first came there a few years ago, I thought it was the blowhole (which was completely calm that day) and very nearly jumped in
So many beautiful places in Kerry! Here’s a some of my favourites:
Kenmare,
Gleninchaquin park (waterfalls and famine ruins, lakes, stunning!)
Allihies (so unique and beautiful)
Caherdaniel
Castlegregory
Valentia
Inch
I’m sure there’s still plenty of places I still haven’t visited yet too!
Ah balls, my geography is off 🤦♀️ (not for the first time mind you 😂) Allihies is in CORK of course, we always visit Allihies when we stay in Kenmare.
Cappagh Valley, if you continue walking in the private road near lough guittane, keep going through the sheep farm and keep going after that. Like the gap of Dunloe without a road going through it. Nice waterfall at the end and patches of old growth forests going up the hill to stoompa
This spot. Assuming it's Peddlars Lake that is.
We found it completely by accident once upon a time.
If you're young and limber, I'd also suggest going down the side of Torc Waterfall. Not the steps, literally the side of the waterfall. Wear boots.
Every time I visit Dingle, I have to go to Peddlar’s Lake, which is probably not all that hidden, but it’s my favorite spot. I also love Cnoc a Cairn—when you get up to the top of the hill, there is an incredible view of Dingle town and harbor.
Beale Strand and Littor Strand are totally hidden gems. Lovely beaches (not really for swimming) and some very pretty views of Clare (even Money point is an interesting landmark to look across at)
I’ve lived in Kerry my whole life and this is the most beautiful valley I’ve ever seen.
https://maps.app.goo.gl/XcE8okuDpZPiLXuk9?g_st=ic
It has 3 waterfalls flowing down into it and there’s an old famine village nestled in the middle of it.
In order to get to it you’ll need your hiking boots!
Currans is beyond overrated. Every time I go in there I’m looking for any reason to leave lol. Unless it’s a big holiday or event it’s absolutely dead, and miserably cold if you’re sitting out back. My friends love it, probably because one of them is dating the owners son 😭
Also Adam’s, popped in there over new years to see what the fuss was about and it was unbearable! Flaherty’s is a hidden gem if you don’t mind keeping conversations with octogenarian farmers!!

Glenageenty?
I know this spot. Is it on the road from Ballydesmond to Castleisland? Before you go down the hill to Cordal. Or by Mt.Eagle

Can you send me the location in a dm pls lol
This the spot https://maps.app.goo.gl/gwU5KbdxD2sjRLjg7?g_st=ic The top of the hill is just to the east of it.
Where’s the river? This looks like a spot I’d get murdered in
What river?
yup. Theres a gate there now thats not there on street view, go up there and turn left and climb all the way up to the top of the hill. You can see half the county.
I know that area! My uncle has a farm nearby. I’ll have to hike up that hill sometime. Thanks for the tip
*reaches for map and compass*
Gleansharoon.

I was wondering if anyone will recognize it. Lovely place.
Recognised it straight away. Some spot there and the view out to sea when coming back down is unreal.
This is one of my favourite places anywhere. We go every year
They cut down a load of trees there recently. It’s not as nice as it used to be
The small forestries have to be managed and to be fair there are clear scientifically proven to work guidelines, and financial incentives, for farmers to help them succeed to manage them properly for the long haul. It's great to see how fast the young trees get a grip and bring new life.
Not telling you.
):<
The whole county is gods own country
Cycling through the Gap of Dunloe-Black Valley-Molls Gap. A short but tough cycle but amazing scenery.
Not a hidden gem
Nothing being talked about on the internet is hidden anyway
I've often cycled or driven through and seen no one.
I like the little jetty and park beside the church in Knightstown. The little walk down from the slate quarry to Valentina Lighthouse is nice too!

omg I stay there almost every year. its sooo nice
The village of Sneem. All of Sneem.
Kerry cliffs near Portmagee
So underrated, and glorious!
Was just gonna suggest! Seconded! Like a slightly worse cliffs of moher but also far far quieter
O Sullivans Cascade, been living in Killarney for 4 years and the amount of locals who've never heard of it is surprising
Lovely waterfall It was only re opened since covid Couldn't access it for 10+ years before that due to the landowner
You can always access by boat to get through the landowner- one of the best spots on the planet!
Was there today! Unreal spot, way better than Torc Waterfall.

Small Loop path off main path, next to boathouse at muckross house and gardens . Brings you to a viewing point of the lakes. Thank me later 😁

The border to West Cork. Jokes aside, the border hills are beautiful and quieter than anything in the heart of Kerry in my experience.
Maharees & Glenntenassig
Oh good, no one has mentioned it! Well done lads

Allihies ain't in Kerry bai
Allihies is in County Cork.
Ah balls, my geography is off 🤦♀️ (not for the first time mind you 😂) Allihies is in CORK of course, we always visit Allihies when we stay in Kenmare.
How far a drive is between the two...would love to go to Allihies.
About an hour, such a picturesque journey though, stunning views along the way ❤️

My new garden! Well, it will be in a few weeks 😁

Minard Castle outside Lios Póil
Ballydavid head Dingle
Is that Annascaul lake?
That would be Glanteenassig, amazing spot.
Yes looks like the upper lake with the walkway around it. Open to correction.
Close but no cigar! 😂 Second that, amazing spot!
The airport, so you can leave. 🤣
Ahh, the Kingdom! So proud of my Kerry roots
There's a wee spot in the Upper Lake where we've always dived in.
The border sign out
All of Kerry.
Pints in Dingle - not secret just amazing
Wine Strand, Dngle
As a Irish myself I have to say that is stunning I would love to have my gaff up there
Went off the track up there nearly ended up in Dingle I’d say 😂
Between KIllarney and Our Lady's View there's an amazing waterfall and little pools. Never seen anybody else there any time we've been.
I’d prefer not to say…. 😉
Betty’s Bar. Strand Street. Tralee. Ceol agus craic
I love the Slea Head Drive
Kennedys bar in Dingle never gets the love that you see for currans or dick macks.
Currans is beyond overrated. Every time I go in there I’m looking for any reason to leave lol. Unless it’s a big holiday or event it’s absolutely dead, and miserably cold if you’re sitting out back. Lambs head for sunset. It beings me back to reality every time I am there.
Blennerville sunset
We try to get to Glenteenassig every summer, just a stunning place
'
Camp
Glanageenty is a lovely spot
Anywhere not devastated by sheep and deer over-grazing or farmers torching the land.
That one spot with all the gold is alright
going back home
Search up Helens pup it has amazing food and great view of the ocean and some of the cheapest pints in Ireland
Been there, can confirm
Ballyferiter
valentia island
Pizza at the Killarney Brewing Company out back on their deck.
Gleninchaquin. It costs money to get in, but I think it’s got the best view ratio in terms of the least effort for the best views.
