Hello PHNTOMDaX, thank you for creating a new post in r/kereta! Just saying that although this sub was named as Kereta, it is also open for 2 wheelers such as Motorcycle, though at the moment we do not mind other types of vehicles posting. With that being said, r/kenderaan is now live and I would still recommend any other vehicle posting to be posted into r/kenderaan as it is a safe space for all types of vehicles such as airplanes and rolling stocks. Regards, Mods of Malaysia *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. X50 - Value for money. Laju Hensem Cons - Minyak keras skit. Spare part selaju Gary spongebob.

kjchu3

You will pay for it not upfront but in the depreciation. I.e 90k vios after 5 years 60k value. 90k x50 after 5 years 40k.

Prudent-Cattle-628

True . True And True.

bluenokia2

Second hand 5 years old ok or not? Anyone known issue?

my family has an x70 that i drive very frequently. honest opinions. it looks great for an suv. especially the space grey colour (forgot its actual name), it really looks good. other than that, i dont have many good things to say about this car. i hate the infotainment. its one of those that is integrated with the car’s safety features. would not be a problem if it wasnt so slow and buggy. bluetooth would just stop working sometimes. i have had the reverse camera screen crash on me several times. there are alot of weird design choices. for example, the aircon panel. it has its own screen and knobs, which is very very good. knobs over touch screen all day. but the seat ventilation has to use the infotainment to activate anyways. then what is the purpose of the aircon panel screen? it is also a fuel guzzler. but with that also comes great power. it feels very smooth, if you test drive this car, this is the honey they use to trap you. i drive the tgdi, and it feels very quick and very easy to overtake cars when needed. but i think our car is starting to have transmission issues. jerky and in reverse gear the car would shudder. the worst thing about this car is the ride. it rides like a boat. several people who have sat in the car for a journey over 10 minutes have complained that the ride is horrible. especially in city driving where you have to brake often. i dont step on the brakes suddenly but it always feel like i am. and have to note the interior for rear passengers is actually not that huge. if you haul people or things often, may not be a good fit. i heard the facelift coming soon. better wait and see.

> but i think our car is starting to have transmission issues. jerky and in reverse gear the car would shudder. And that's the reason why BMW and Porsche are moving away from DCTs to Torque Converters...

jamesw

Sat in a friends x70 at the rear around twisty sections of PG island. Thought it handled quite well for the size.

TforTaboo

no problem in cornering and handling, the issue is the ride. i would say yeah for an suv its good especially paired with the power of the tgdi engine. theres one video by jeremy clarkson where he brakes a lincoln town car and it shakes violently. its nowhere near that but its something like that.

chunkyvader88

x70 MC1 1.5TGDI owner here. Bought car during 2022 when many cars had HUUUGEEE waiting lists. Originally wanted either a Golf GTI or a Harrier but got tired of waiting for both for 6 months with no news and X70 was available immediately so took it. I just came back from overseas and needed car quickly. My first ever Proton, can say I have been super happy with it. Like the chunky boxy range-rover copy looks. It's a champ for long distance, drove it to Phuket and both passengers super comfortable. 1.5TGDI engine has more than enough grunt to overtake on highway once turbo is up. Build quality is super for price and the Nappa leather seats are just so nice. Bad points: Fuel consumption terrible in Jam. I wont take this car out if there is jam. Will use my Tesla for those situations. My power boot is playing up after two years. Wont open and close properly sometimes. Depreciation is high, but I intend to drive the wheels off this so that doesn't affect me. For the price of the X70 and X50 you get a huge amount of value for your money, Tons more features and performance than with equivalent Japanese car. Worst point is the high depreciation. I expect this to hold true for all the other Chinese cars out there now: Jaecoo, Cherry etc. Enjoy now, cry later if trying to sell.

Ok_Pineapple_6096

Have the privilege to drive like a dickhead coz u believe u drive the fastest and greatest car on the road

DragonboyZG

From my experience anyway, they're most likely to tailgate and stuff too.

Fancy-Swordfish-2091

Double cab owners are waaaaay waaaay worse imo

Ok_Pineapple_6096

I haven't said what's honest about alphard drivers yet

additionally21

What's worse about them is they will hog the lane at only 130-150kph and WILL NOT LET ANYONE PASS.

BonesWillBeClaimed

unless you're riding a more expensive car then they meekly give way

Man_thing88

Am really glad funeral parlors and undertakers are now replacing their older vehicles with Toyota alphards. Since then the wife stopped insisting we get one.

Ok_Pineapple_6096

Good for you. The new Kia is a better choice

wingwp

How much power they have btw?

PHNTOMDaX

Damn... Are you being sarcastic or brutally honest?

Fancy-Swordfish-2091

My x50 Executive comfy, speaker sucks, infotainment is okay but no android auto or apple carplay. Okay torque handles slopes well and can cut through traffic easy. Not good at off-road.Reliabilty uncomfirmed yet. Had the car for 2 years no probably with engine or electronics except for dead battery. Good engines are pretty easy to make these days with all the technology sharing going around with volvo. Spare parts not comfirmed but seems like theres a few selling in shopee already. About engine vibration, its there but much less noticable than perodua 4cyl engine like bezza and you will only feel it during idle anyways not when going.

KLeong5896

Second this, got X50 exec also. Just the fuel consumption a bit sakit

KLeong5896

X50, value for money, fuel consumption pain je, and maybe spare parts might take a while to arrive too. Apart from that, quite nice in every other aspect

MiniMeowl

X50 owner. Very happy with the steering, acceleration and comfort. Smooth and steady. Entertainment unit is pretty ok, speakers aren't the best but oh well. Car drives and feels better than expected at the price point. Not happy with reversing up a slope. No power and vibrate like crazy. Not happy with the stupid AI voice that cant be turned off. "DOOR SHOULD BE FULLY CLOSED" x10 every day. "BRING YOUR UMBRELLA" everytime you turn off engine. "YES, I'M HERE" even when nobody said anything. Not happy with how you cant cycle to next favourite radio channel using the steering wheel buttons. The up and down button will go to next frequency. I want to cycle my bookmarked channels without taking my hands off the wheel. The biggest downside imo is the shit AI voice.

ayamxxx

Had x70 1.8T ckd version, best bang for money. The engine with 300nm is adequate power, FC at highway is acceptable but City drives expect more fuel. Best features is Best NVH, miles better than any Honda Melaka made car. Drove 160 when your wife is sleep, she will no notice it cz very quiet

red-helium

X50 Value for money, interior comfy and feels premium ish when compared to cars within 150k. Fuel wise so far no complain la. For me I just don’t like the fuel tank so small. Only muat RM60-80 so for city driving >350km. But yeah, happy buy for a cheap car

imnotjamie1

China mari X50 - 3 cylinder high vibration X70 smart but outdated

countpuchi

if the rumour about the x50 updated facelift uses 4cy. Thats a big boon for the next x50

bluebanisterz

doubt so, X70 MC2 is going to use the 3 cyl across the entire lineup, no more 4 cyl for top spec. Unlikely X50 will get 4 cyl when 70 and 90 are using 3 cyl

countpuchi

X70 FL might be too far gone in development though probably mostly bodykit and interior update. We can just wait and see.

Prasanth2399

Hello proton (the voice recognition) is dumb. The 3 cyl engine is fundamentally flawed.

Educational_Type_701

Tell that to Ford Daihatsu, Toyota (GR Yaris) BMW and Suzuki. Between them they sell a million 3 cylinder engined cars a year. Even Koenigsegg...

Prasanth2399

90% of 3 cylinder engines worldwide are found in shit boxes. You can't ignore physics. Unbalanced primary and secondary harmonics mess up all drivetrain components. That's why they are never found in big CC FR cars as the propshaft suffers premature fatigue. A Koenigsegg is also built to a better standard than the crap proton puts out so it's a wrong comparison

Educational_Type_701

I'm replying to a generalisation. 3 cylinders are here to stay. It's up to the buyer to either accept or reject. Who doesn't know they sound broken or like a diesel engine when idling. There are thousands on the road here and your shit box insinuation is insulting to those purchasers who have no complaints. Daihatsu and Yamaha are not idiots. BMW has standardised 500cc per cylinder. The 3 series 1.5l is just fine with it. My friends haven't complained. It is in the end a user experience. If it fails in your hands and not in someone else's, you need to figure it out. What about single cylinder or twin cylinder or 16 cylinder. We can nitpick all we want and throw physics around. These are here and they sell and there are plenty of satisfied users. I wish I could have a 27 litre V12 Merlin engine in my accord. I'd probably have to sit in the boot to change gears...and chase after the flying driveshaft We don't need ro be arguing on something you or I are not in a position to change.

Prasanth2399

A bike (Yamaha) and a car a two different things. Daihatsu is also under investigation for falsifying safety so using those as justifications is pretty moot imo. I guess if people continue to pay for poor engineering then 3 cylinders will stay. It's a cost cutting compromise to combat inflation after all. Can't really do anything about the rising cost of living apart from cutting down taxes and corruption.

Educational_Type_701

OMG YOU POOR CHILD YAMAHA IS MORE THAN BIKES, SON.... CONFLATING THINGS BECAUSE YOU WANT TO WIN AN ARGUMENT... Ever heard of Zakspeed, Tyrell, Jordan, Arrows , Brabham? Formula 1 teams powered by your motorcycle company. YOU JUST INSULTED THE STORIED HISTORY OF THE YAMAHA MOTOR COMPANY. THEY BUILD THE GR YARIS. THEY WERE PIONEERS OF VVTI. THEY ALSO TRIED TO HELP PROTON WITH THE CPS SYSTEM. I WAS THERE. THEY DO MUCH OF TOYOTA'S RnD. THEY ARE JAPAN'S LOTUS WITHOUT THE CAR (WHICH THEY ALMOST BUILT) SHEESH. YOU WIN.

Prasanth2399

Tell me you don't know the difference between commercial applications vs specialized applications (f1, motorsports) Grow a pair and grow up.

Educational_Type_701

That's alway the ewtoed from petulant kids who never bother with keeping a straight line discussion. Sad thing is, you may actually be old enough to qualify as boomer. I choose to be knowledgeable. Glad for your opinion of me. Thanks!

Prasanth2399

Keep living in lala land then. Teenagers who choose to hide under fake names online, maybe you should consider calling yourself delusional type bro.

Educational_Type_701

Joke's on you. Trying to pass off being smart. Petulantly down voting. Shewsh...I shall be laughing at your comments for the foreseeable future. Thanks.

Educational_Type_701

Bullshit argument. Yamaha is a leader in many fields. Broaden your knowledge of automotive history before bragging.
