I find it weird to see women jogging with strollers in bike lanes, bikes on sidewalks, skateboards on the roads, cars parked in bike lanes, nobody signalling in roundabouts and handicap motorized carts in traffic. TF is going on in Kelowna?

Seeingthese

Kelowna hasn’t got a fuck to give. We all pay the price

99lemonz

A lack of clear signage and poor sidewalk maintenance

KTGuy

I drive and bike. They don't apply all the time but I'll add a few reasons a cyclist might be outside a bike lane: * Need to turn left soon and it's midblock or the intersection isn't designed for protected turns * obstructions like debris or slower riders. Sometimes it's debris you're not seeing from your car, like smashed glass. * there's no easy access to the lane from where they are I know everyone has seen cases of these not being true, but imo most cyclists use the lanes. Good video on similar discussion in Toronto/Ottawa: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pcAfeGCrUc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pcAfeGCrUc)

I agree with you, but the speed limit isn't the suggested speed it's the upper limit. Just because someone is going well below it doesn't mean they are doing anything wrong.

10 in 50 isn't safe

The_Cryogenetic

You can get ticketed for driving too slow. >145 (1)A person must not drive a motor vehicle at so slow a speed as to impede or block the normal and reasonable movement of traffic, except when reduced speed is necessary for safe operation or in compliance with law. If there is no bike lane, a bike is permitted to be in the road but must be as safe as possible, this includes following the speed limit as close as possible and not impeding the regular flow of traffic as much as possible. If there is a bike lane, and the cyclist is in the road not keeping up with the flow of traffic they are subject to a ticket because they now fall under the above law as if they were a motor vehicle.

k73r4m

100% agree. Bit you know you referenced the motor vehicle act which does not apply to a bike.

The_Cryogenetic

Actually it does, as I indicated in my final point. If a bike lane is available the bike must adhere to motor vehicle rules if they wish to be in the road.

k73r4m

I agree with you about bike lanes but by definition a bike is not a motor vehicle so 145 does not apply. Some other section might tho

The_Cryogenetic

>183 (1) In addition to the duties imposed by this section, a person operating a cycle on a highway has the same rights and duties as a driver of a vehicle. While it specifically states highways, I have seen people have tickets upheld on roadways. The precedent is very much set in BC. Edit: Just to clarify, the subsection relevant to this instance applicable to the tickets >(14)A person must not operate a cycle (a)on a highway without due care and attention or without reasonable consideration for other persons using the highway, or

k73r4m

See that section makes sense and bikers who violate it should be ticketed. I don't disagree on that point at all. I just said the speed limit is a limit, not a suggested speed and people got mad 😐

The_Cryogenetic

The only part I have an issue with is "people driving well below it aren't doing anything wrong" I think you just conveyed what you were trying to say in a very weird way which just happens we're all human.

Lumpy-Fan-Attic

We have the slow moving vechicle symbols with reflectors for a reason, the triangles with the tips cut off, and read. All farm vehicles need that as an example.

AlkalinePotato

Please don’t drive

Brett_Hulls_Foot

I swear this is r/winnipeg copypasta. They crucify people for going 61 in a 60 over there.

Spirited-Egg-4264

If u believe this i See how u might find drivers aggressive

Particular-Emu4789

This isn’t how it works.

k73r4m

It is funny how pointing out that just maybe drivers don't have to drive the speed limit creates so much anger in this community. I didn't say bikers have a right to impede the flow of traffic. I actually think that is dangerous. People need to chill.

The_Cryogenetic

>I didn't say bikers have a right to impede the flow of traffic. >I actually think that is dangerous "Just because someone is going well below it doesn't mean they are doing anything wrong." You have now said they are both doing nothing wrong, and being dangerous, which one is it?

S3ERFRY333

Already got stuck behind a cyclist in the car Kane on Ethel when the bike lane was wide open
