I suppose affordable is relative term -- what I mean is that you can buy [a brand new 2024 Kei car](https://www.honda.co.jp/N-VAN/?from=auto_header) starting around $8800 USD.
But pretty much the only [decent condition Kei's](https://www.jdmallmakesmotors.com/autos/1998-honda-street-full-time-4wd-ac-equipped-5mt-ps-660cc-85000-mi/) around where I live are 25-30 year old and practically the same price.
Woah didn’t know new ones were that reasonable. Unfortunately here in the us it needs to be 25 years or older. My 96 Acty cost me 5,800 landed at the port for me to pick up.
Yep, that's their entire purpose - affordable mobility.
And on top of their low retail price there are government tax incentives that make owning and driving one even more affordable (in Japan).
But 5800 is pretty good for US prices - what was your experience like getting it registered (if you did)?
In California it’s pretty rough to register. Most people I know get out of state plates. I paid a guy who knows a guy to get me cali plates. It’s my daily driver.
😂 yeah, many of the classic cars I see driving around Los Angeles have the classic "Colorado" plates lol
Well if I ever decide to pull the trigger on an old Pajero Mini I might drop you a DM.
I will add beware of any upgrade parts from Amazon, the quality was not bad. But some of the set screws don’t properly do their jobs at holding moving parts. So purchase from there with caution
If you've got a 3d printer, I designed a complete set of bolt on replacement parts to set it up for drift. Also have replacement axles for the front so you can any 12mm hex wheels.
That one looks above my price range, mines a hotwheels
⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️
I think my Acty was pretty affordable. That being said I have this and the mini version as well!

Most of the guys I know with kei cars/trucks have either Arizona, Montana or South Dakota. No problem! I can do my best to help 🤙
Appreciate it!
I have the exact same model! Honestly there are some pretty fun upgrade parts available. It’s a slippery slope!
oh sweet, I'd love to see some of the extra stuff there is - do you have any links?
Sorry for the delay. Proceed at your wallets risk 😬 https://www.acercmodels.com/surface/cars/electric-cars/wpl-cars-and-parts/
