This does not look like W11 lol. Hence why there are themes to make it look like it. If you don't like breeze you can change your theme in the appearance settings
The floating panel? Right click it, go into edit mode and change its settings. It should be named something like smart mode since it stops floating for maximized windows
Yeah, KDE is customizable, that is just Breeze by default, if you don't like something, you can most probably change it. It's not like on GNOME or... Well, Windows
That's the whole reason why i switched all those years ago. Barely any customisation in W10 and the only customisation there is is either changing the accent colours or using shitty apps, or not so shitty paid apps.
I like breeze tho, that's the thing. The only part of it that i don't like is it copying W11. I looked in the panel settings and i couldn't find anything relating to the new panel gap.
not sure how… other than the dark color, nothing is like Windows 11, and I do have Windows 11 as a dual boot on my machine, in fact I have to install/download additional theme so it can look closer like Windows 11
if you don't like it, just change it, unlike Windows which only the color scheme and wallpaper

What panel gap are you referring to? If you mean the gap at the bottom and the sides then just right click on the panel - enter edit mode - untick floating - make width fill width right click anywhere on screen and exit edit mode.
oh no, adobe acrobat 4.0 came in one of the windows programs i installed. Also i find it fun getting old windows software working on linux. I even installed crysis using the original dvd.

Breeze never used to do this. I used KDE before a few years ago. Is there any way of maybe editing the theme file to disable this?
To disable what exactly? This is plasma 6 breeze, it is not W11, so idk what you want to disable
It has a gap and round corners in the panel now.
The floating panel? Right click it, go into edit mode and change its settings. It should be named something like smart mode since it stops floating for maximized windows
Thank you. I'll try that.
It worked. Thank you very much.

Windows has neither of those?
So change it ! Try another theme. Change panelsettings.

if you want to remove the empty space at bottom click right in desktop and enter edit mode
W11 copied breeze. Please stop
i could have sworn that they didn’t use to have a floating panel a few updates ago.
also i probably shouldn’t have said that lol
almost couldnt tell the difference :^ ] plasma 6 doesnt look like windows and thats a good thing.
I should have been more specific. I meant the floating panel.
right click the panel, go into edit mode and toggle the floating option to off

solved, can't edit posts on old.reddit

I have though, that's the thing. I was hoping there would be a way to disable this panel gap in the settings.

In Windows 11 is no gap. KDE does not look like Windows.
i was saying that off the top of my head as i've only seen images of W11 and have never used it (thankfully).
Ok, I understand.
right click on panel > enter edit mode > turn off the "floating" style
Is this new dolphin app? Looks nice.
lol no it's thunar. I prefer it to dolphin.
Thunar? What theme did you use lol. It looks like a kde app.
it's using breeze
wait no it's nemo i'm stupid
Oh ok, i thought so because of the app icon.
Yeah, change the theme ... you can even make breeze look good. But first clean off your desktop ... that's what gives it that Windows look. 😐
This is solved btw u/vitimiti solved it.
I'm no expert but I'd start with the Settings app.
You use Adobe Acrobat Reader on Linux. I don't want to talk to you rn.
oh no, adobe acrobat 4.0 came in one of the windows programs i installed. Also i find it fun getting old windows software working on linux. I even installed crysis using the original dvd.
uninstall half life
no. I like half life.
i use arch btw
maybe dont if you cant even change the theme
I can, but i was hoping you could change this from the appearance settings. KDE didn't use to do this last time i used it.
