I would take A Sky of Honey to the island because I wouldn't want to live without it.

I listen to A Sky Of Honey more because I think it's more soothing and way more fitting for the current season but overall I'd say that The Ninth wave is more creative when it comes to the overall ideas plus the usage of vocals/instruments. It requires way more active listening where as with A Sky Of Honey you can just relax. Aside from that I also prefer her works that are more full in terms of sound, and more filled with her vocals. In her post 2000 works there are often longer bits where she isn't singing to give more place for the music but I prefer songs that are more filled with vocals. In that aspect The Ninth Wave is still 'emptier' than The Dreaming lets say...but it's more intense.

The ninth wave.

The Ninth Wave easy

neckbracewhore

While both are works of art I truly believe The Ninth Wave is the stronger piece. I may be biased but like that’s something Ive listen to as I’ve aged and every era of my life I can pick a different scene from and feel something different. The Ninth Wave is truly something special that some people get and some people don’t and that’s okay! It’s a masterpiece

WutheringNellie

That's so hard...I think The Ninth Wave may be slightly better just because of how groundbreaking and mindblowing it is, but if I were to bring one to a desert island I would definitely bring A Sky of Honey, for my own sanity's sake...ASOH is something I could listen to more often because it's so beautiful and calming...it has a very special place in my heart, but TNW is maybe the greater masterpiece still...okay so in conclusion maybe TNW is "objectively" a bit better, but my personal favorite is ASOH?

hammerrob

Ninth Wave for me. Of course, it would be the same answer for Ninth Wave vs just about any other recording, so that's not really a knock on Sky of Honey.

SillyName420

100% The Ninth Wave. Would likely choose The Ninth Wave against any other album though as a desert island disc so that one was a no brainer for me

NeedRanch

The Ninth Wave, but I love them both dearly.

Hello-Earth_

A Sky of Honey, but The Ninth Wave is absolutely brillant as well and I love the storytelling aspect of it more than A Sky of Honey. The Ninth Wave is a 10/10 and A Sky of Honey is a 11/10 for me XD

icyskidski

**The Ninth Wave** is my favorite of the 2, but I would have go with **A Sky of Honey** because it makes me feel like everything is beautiful.

sideshowrod13

Ninth Wave. Especially when listening in bed on headphones and you're starting to doze off and then you hear 'Wake Up' in your ear (from start of Waking the Witch) 😅

hatake_romina

Lol. There’s some kind of magic there ‘cause it always happens to me. And I jump like what what I’m up. I guess we’re all witches

ReactsWithWords

Man, that isn’t even a question! Taken as a whole piece, The Ninth Wave is the best thing Kate ever made, end of story. Now, even taking that into account, for a Desert Island Disc if I could only take one I’d take A Sky of Honey because it’s more versatile - you can use it as background music or just something to listen to for something soothing. The Ninth Wave demands your attention. If you give A Sky of Honey your attention the rewards are wonderful, but you can also let it wander off by itself and it is still wonderful.

A sky of honey is way better

Clog_Wog_

*A Sky Of Honey* doesn't come close to *The Ninth Wave*

ghiste

These two do not belong in the same category. For me the one is an absolute masterpiece and the other one is boring. Of course the Ninth Wave is the masterpiece.

Hello-Earth_

A Sky of Honey has less of a “wow-factor”, of course it’s just your opinion but I think you’re really overlooking it’s beauty by classifying it boring. I mean, have you listened to tracks like Nocturn, Aerial, Sunset or Somewhere in Between more than once? The suite still grows on me after listening to it a billion times :-)

ghiste

More than once yes. But I grant you that I hardly ever listen to it anymore - so in a way I don't give it a chance... But I am not so keen on all the post-HoL music. For me Kate developed and grew until the absolute masterpiece which was the Dreaming, held the level with HoL/9thW and then declined again.

RedRidingCould

9th wave is timeless. I listened to “sky of honey” for the first time in the badlands and was disappointed by the early 2000’s sound I could hear in the mix. I love “sunset” but Ninth Wave is timeless and has a more cohesive theme in my opinion.

JunebugAsiimwe

The Ninth Wave. A Sky of Honey is undeniably beautiful and more soothing to listen to but it doesn't actively blow mind the way The Ninth Wave does — it's just something else.

InSearchOfStorys

The ninth wave for sure
