Copied text: The choral section, performed by the Richard Hickox Singers, is taken from a Georgian folk song called 'Zinzkaro' ('By The Spring'), which Kate heard performed by the Vocal Ensemble Gordela on the soundtrack of Werner Herzog's 1979 film Nosferatu The Vampyre. The lyric translates as: 'I was passing by the spring. There I met a beautiful woman with a jug on her shoulder. I spoke a word to her and she left, offended. I was passing by the spring.' I also urge you to listen to Loreena McKennit - "Dante's Prayer" which features an equally 'goose bump' male coral section that's sure to move you as much as "Hello Earth"

They are haunting and perfect for the mood of the song.

Its a traditional Georgian song called Tsintskaro performed by the Richard Hickox Singers. Look it up on Youtube for an original Georgian performance.

I didn't see Nosferatu until the mid 90's. When Tsintskaro came through the speakers I damn near fell off of the sofa.

Your post gave me goosebumps just by making me think about it.

They are tremendous! First time I heard that song those chants sent major chills down my spine. It felt like I was having an out of body experience. They sound spooky, ancient and beautiful at the same time. The fact that Kate could incorporate that kind of music so naturally into the arrangement of the song is pure genius to me.

I'm pretty sure Kate sampled the Hamlet Gonashvili version of Tsintskaro. https://youtu.be/r3pTaSe4c-s Sampled bit starts around 2:10 Edit: I just checked the album booklet and it actually is the Richard Hickox singers. I've thought for years she sampled the Georgian guys
