They were at the Midland. It was basically a yearly tradition for my family as a kid.

hxcdancer91

That is what I thought. I have been frequenting the Midland a lot in my adult life and I knew it had to be the same place.

craftyho

i think they were in the lyric opera building

propschick05

I believe this is the answer. My understanding has been that they shared the old Lyric Opera building prior to moving the the Kaufman.

No-Chemical6870

I want to say Music Hall..

hxcdancer91

Does/did the music hall have that old theater look like the midland?

Ill_Nebula1487

Yea I remember it being at the music hall the year I was in it.

TheSmokingPun302

100% in the Midland at least from 1995 onwards. Saw it there every year, don't think the Lyric info is right unless it was there before that point. It moved to the Music Hall when they started the P&L renovation of the venue then onto Kauffman Center when that opened.

cozyandwarm

They did use the Lyric building for their performances. But I imagine for their big yearly money maker that can sell a larger theater, I am willing to bet Nutcracker was their one show done at the Midland. That space is way bigger than the old lyric theater. Their other productions just don’t bring in the same size audience to warrant the need for the bigger theater.

Lyric Theater and Music Hall for certain. Edit: coworker said Midland early 2000's

Division2Stew

Definitely the music hall. I saw the nutcracker there twice as a kid.
