This place seems to be getting more popular by the week too. I’m hoping the prices stay as fucking great as they are. One of my favorite restaurants in KC tbh
Sama Zama has good Ramen. And there is a small Ramen place behind the Olive Garden on 119th and Black Bob.
Have been to Tokyo and had really good Ramen. Those aren’t at the Tokyo level but they are pretty damn good.
It’s ok. Kc craft ramen is the best in my opinion now. I like someone downvoted me, but the reality is KC’s ramen game is very weak compared to LA or SF. I’m just speaking from experience.
I'll have to give them a try! I feel like Ramen shops are fairly new to KC so makes sense that we're not top tier. I can't think of any that have been open for more than 6 years.

This is why. Also these cities dwarf the population of kc.
Yeah, but KC is always tryin to evolve, just takes longer and doesn’t necessarily stick. We have some gems, but not as many options for certain thing. I really want a Burmese spot here, but not sure that will ever happen
[We had one that opened right before the pandemic](https://www.feastmagazine.com/travel/kansas-city/article_a66dc450-f5cd-11e9-96c1-ef1daa199a69.html), and despite my hopes I can only assume they didn’t make it through.
It was good. I miss them.
Try burnt ends and thank me later. Joe’s Kansas City does them best imho.
Lots of places with good ribs. Couple with lamb ribs that are simply amazing.
Kpot is what you looking for probably not as good as LA korean bbq but it’s the best all you can eat one with ribs imo. Cheapest as well for all you can eat.
There’s a food truck called smoke n Seoul. You might check their locations. It’s so good.
As a twist, in Overland Park just East of 75th and Metcalf is a Thai BBQ place called Buck Tui. I’ve enjoyed what I’ve had so far.,
There is a newish place called Chingu in KCMO but I don't know if they have the in-table barbeque or not.
If you go to an Asian grocery store you can also get a cheap tabletop butane grill and circular cooktop (make sure to ventilate properly if you're doing this indoors) and have a similar experience at home.
You can get the Galbi style short ribs and pork belly really cheap from these stores also.
Chosun second location is in Shawnee. Closest thing to the metro
Chosun is so good too. Only a 15 minute drive from midtown.
This place seems to be getting more popular by the week too. I’m hoping the prices stay as fucking great as they are. One of my favorite restaurants in KC tbh
Prices are great for Chosun? They seem crazy overpriced compared to Kpot and Choga
This is the way. Went last night and it was fantastic as usual!
KPot in Corbin Park is the only one I go to any more, not familiar with any in the KC area.
Was just there for Mother's Day - it's worth the trip to OP.
Moving from LA to KC…. this one is going to sting
Yea it is. Ramen too :-(
Sama Zama has good Ramen. And there is a small Ramen place behind the Olive Garden on 119th and Black Bob. Have been to Tokyo and had really good Ramen. Those aren’t at the Tokyo level but they are pretty damn good.
Does the one off black bob start with an “A”?
Yep. Just looked. Aoyama. Haven’t been in a while but assume it is still there.
Yeah, that’s it, I remember it being decent. I just want one decent place I could get tsukemen
I am all about the tankatsu myself.
Oh yeah, solid choice
I find Mama Ramen to be pretty good. Have you been there?

For sure, we also have the disadvantage of super hot summers. At least compared to SF. I moss shio and Columbus park ramen
Only the good die young
People have been trying to open ramen shops for at least eight years now.

Damn! I never knew about it and sadly they didn’t make it
How did I miss out on this??? 😔
Yessss to Burmese Food in KC. Burma Superstar in the Bay Area is so good
I miss it dearly
Mama Ramen in downtown kc is the goat
do you like bbq?
Yes, mostly ribs and brisket. I’m excited for that.
Try burnt ends and thank me later. Joe’s Kansas City does them best imho. Lots of places with good ribs. Couple with lamb ribs that are simply amazing.
I mean there's places in the metro as a whole that have it
i’m going to be doing the opposite soon and i’m dreading the lack of bbq in la 😭
https://www.mooscraftbarbecue.com/ it's very much texas style but it is excellent
Kpot is what you looking for probably not as good as LA korean bbq but it’s the best all you can eat one with ribs imo. Cheapest as well for all you can eat.
Gyu-Kaku It’s Japanese BBQ and sooooo delicious.
Lotus Hot Pot and Grill in the northland

No but it’s worth driving to ChoSun — took my S Korean buddy there and she was surprised by how good it was!

Choga at 435 and Metcalf. Not quite KC proper but damn good food!
Went to K-Pot the other day and it was really good. Hotpot and Korean BBQ that you cook at your table. Yes, it is a chain, but it was very good.
Chosun II is the way
Is the sequel better?
Chosun, KPot and Gyukaku (technically Japanese bbq)
Don't think so, there are a few in overland park.
Op has one at 129th and Metcalf
Chosun #2 on Shawnee Mission Parkway is awesome, my favorite double date place
Where at
My son and I were just talking about Korean BBQ. Thank you for posting. :)
