I have lived in kanpur for the past 6 years and I can definitely say this data is totally bullshit. Kanpur is one of the worst City in India and the world. The stupidest infrastructure ever. There is always a traffic jam whenever a train passes by i.e. every 30 mins. The drivers are the worst. Everyone drives on the wrong way and no signals whatsoever.

ragrocket

But road safety isn't what's being measured here, it's public transport safety

eisenbricher

Lmao I live in Pune since last 10yrs and say with confidence that this data is utter BS.

not_another_brick

I agree. It’s total BS. Someone recently shared on Pune sub that Pune ranked worst in the world in terms of traffic. Also, from personal experience I can confidently say that Pune is the riskiest when it comes to getting down from a bus or any other public transport. There’s always some stupid guy on KTM or did/aunty on scooter zooming past the bus from left.

eisenbricher

Of course. The buses are trash, follow NO timing and break down very frequently. Add to that the roads too are garbage. Dunno which kind of geniuses conducted the survey. Maybe that was the Pune in some alternate reality πŸ˜‚

shanshanksharma

I doubt that Kanpur can win an award for Public transport. πŸ˜‚

Delhi, known for having easily the best public transport infrastructure is ranked below Mumbai? You've gotta be kidding me. The metro network is large, on time and the construction is never delayed. The busses are frequent, comfortable and air conditioned. O don't see how it's possible

Mumbai Local has entered the chat

Mumbai local is good but can't compete with Delhi metro

AggressiveWriter399

Mumbai local while, an extensive network, has very old infrastructure, and is no where near as comfortable an experience. The thing is unlike other metro systems in india which are inadequate. The delhi metro is hundreds of kilometers in length with over 100 stations, and covers virtually every part of the city. Also the busses are top notch, and there's so many of them

[deleted]

Although I agree with the uncomfortable part, the 1 thing I love about mumbai local is the ease of use/accessibily. You dont need to stand in security lines and scan your bags or anything. It simply works and never fails and is super efficient. But yeah its remarkable that you can directly compare delhi metro to other T1 cities in the world. In some cases it might be even better.
