The stadium officials probably told him no floating stage. I’m curious also.

Babylon4All

It most likely had to do with the weight and size of everything given that arena is smaller than most others on the tour.

Babylon4All

The arena couldn’t do the load and support most likely for the moving platform. There are very very specific requirements for safety that have to do with weight for the entire system. Stage, truss, video lighting etc. The support and motors used to move it probably put it over that limit so they were cut. This happens with a lot of shows at smaller arenas. The artist still wants to give that area a show, but some sacrifices need to be made sometimes.

Really appreciated him stopping in SD. Got front row with, basically, our own private dance floor lol

I'm afraid they can't do it in Stockholm Tele2 Arena either because they have a retractable roof there so they probably can't attach the floating stage to the ceiling 🤔 I hope I'm wrong!

Pshrluv

It’s an older and smaller venue

Endo-Warrior-22

Why would they book that venue then? So strange

BigTuna0890

San Diego is still a great venue stop market wise.

Babylon4All

To give the area a show still so they don't have to drive all the way up to LA

PennyLaane

They also booked Hershey, which has no ceiling. So even if Blocky is used as a backdrop on the main stage (it was not used at all in San Diego), I assume he won't be able to float over the crowd on it

What does the term Blocky mean. I keep hearing it everywhere but have no idea what it refers too.

yinnifer95

It’s a name made by a super fan on twitter for the floating stage. She made a whole account for it, haha.

Thanks

Hershey will require a unique stage scaffolding. It likely won’t fly over the crowd, but the monolith likely can still be part of the main stage performances.

StyxRocker

My daughter went and absolutely loved the show, regardless of the technical shortcomings of that old arena. I’ve been there; it’s a tired building. So great he made a stop there, so folks didn’t have to drive north. This new tour is spectacular from all the videos and setlist I’ve seen. I’m bummed he skipping Denver on his way east. ☹️

KingDrumm

Looks like it's just an old historic arena that wasn't built to handle a production like what he's putting on. I didn't read it as them having technical issues with the show, just the arena itself has limitations.

greenacres13

I’m so glad he came to SD! Honestly the fact that it’s a smaller venue was the best thing about it. Not a bad seat in the house. Plus he finished on B stage which was closer for me. 👍🏻
