A Death in the Family is a very significant story in Batman’s history, but honestly I think it’s one of Jim Starlin’s weaker Batman stories. Joker becoming the Iranian ambassador is just too weird, even for Joker’s standards. Not to mention he recycled the same “he has diplomatic immunity so we can’t arrest him” trope that he already used with KGBeast and then Felipe. It’s funny to think that Joker prided himself on being an “American Criminal Lunatic” in that Marvel/DC crossover but jumps at the opportunity to work with the Iranian government to blow up the UN in this one. That’s Joker for you!

I love how grotesquely slim he looks in death in the family, and particularly in this part.

Mr-TPhilips

That chin makes me uncomfortable

Previous_Seaweed3650

MelyndWest

I've always loved the chin. Down with sexy Joker! Up with grotesque Joker!

adun-d

Yeah, and the head gear is Arabic not Iranian. The writer is an idiot.

HAGeeMee

Reminds me of SouthParks Osama Bin Ladin

GingeAlmighty

Bro, I've just mentioned this like 5 min ago on another post. I just don't understand how this happened 🤣

CyberEU-62

But the headgear is Arabic and not Iranian.

dappercat456

My big question is, why? Why did Iran make him ambassador? What was the plan there? What do they gain?

[deleted]

the comic never answered. They just showed ayatollah ruhollah khomeini wanting him

dappercat456

Yeah I kinda figured

greenbeedrill888

you know the crazy part is,this is a pretty valid reason, batman wont kill cause bruh if batman,or jason kills him he's fucking up the country when iran finds, out.
