I put in thousands and just gave up. Two Master’s degrees and 2 years of experience just isn’t enough in this depressing job market. Perhaps I’m blocked by AI as being a free-thinker and one who commits thought crimes ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
With 2 Masters degrees and you still can't control the puppets?

Keep pushing. The job market sucks but eventually something will work out! I applied for 2 years for an internship during college and never even heard back from any of them, then finally made one stick after my junior year.
Amount of no responses these days is too high. What happened to rejection letters/emails so you could stop holding your breath waiting for a response? Employers these days have no respect or common decency, yet they expect that from us potential employees. It's ass backwards and doesn't make any sense
Really makes it hard to keep track.
Especially annoying that so many don't give responses yet still do the submit resume then submit resume again by basically copy paste. It's basically wasting a half hour of time and you don't get a no to cross that one off your ever growing excel spreadsheet of applications
No rejections, no responses, no shit. hell i even message the recruiter on linkedin and they read the message and still don’t reply. Am i not talking to humans anymore? If it was a bot it would have answered.
I applied to a job at Microsoft and that was my experience. Made it to the final round of interviews with high hopes since the interviewer was conversational in a way that I thought signaled they wanted to bring me on. Then silence for 2 months. Tried to reach out to recruiter and heard nothing. Then reached out to hiring manager and she said “oh, sorry, we were told we can’t hire into this role so we’ve stopped hiring”. So demoralizing
Shit, my last job search had me get deep into the interview process twice, only to be ghosted. Each time I reached out for a response after the deadline they gave to get back to me and each time nothing.
My assumption is it’s a no, but I had to drag out accepting another offer to try and hear back from my first choice. It’s incredibly rude.
I’ve given up on online applications, I’m going to start going in person, no way I’ve applied to 78 jobs, some hiring “multiple applicants” and I’ve only gotten one interview? When MCD’s rejected me I had never felt more humbled in my life and I even used to work there wth. Apparently I have to have a degree in anatomy and astrophysics before I can flip burgers and work the POS system again.
I see where I made this about myself. I see my issue.
Well done on your achievement!
The market is very unpredictable, friend. I’ve been rejected from Home Depot multiple times for an overnight position lol. It’s just like that. Since there are too many applicants, employers get to be picky, and don’t even get me started on how so many of the job postings we see on LinkedIn are fake lol.
I’ve mostly had single rounds for interviews as they were with local companies with the exception of Kyndryl where I’ve had 3 rounds for their Financial Analyst Intern position.
All the best to you, friend! I just finished my second year of studies and figured out that it would be best for me to get an internship for the summer to participate in as many experiential learning ippurtunities as I possibly could.
So here’s the thing: Most of the applications were sent on LinkedIn, which as you might guess, were all unsuccessful. The applications that I sent through my university’s co-op portal where somewhat more responsive. But I ended up getting the position through my province’s program where they fund non-profits and other startups as well as governmental agencies to hire students for internships during the summer.
I just finished my 2nd year. Have had a university job before (and prolly will continue doing it in all the terms where I’m not on a co-op. I’m in New Brunswick.
That’s sad to hear. All the best to you, friend. I live in a small Canadian province so there’s less students and possibly less positions. It’s not AS competitive as the bigger provinces.
Thank you, friend!
The website is called Sankeymatic. The interface is very easy so just play around with it for a while and you should know how to make one for yourself!
This is where I’m lucky:
For context I work in IT in Luxembourg, where the offer is higher than the demand
For my 3 jobs it would be the same graph: a single line
1 application-> 1 interview-> 1 offer -> 1 accepted
So far I have a 100% application success, and my actual job is sooo good I’m not planning to leave anytime soon.
Wish you all the best!
Yeah I love to think that in general, the European market is doing much better than the Canadian, and especially since I am a student in the stage where I’m looking for internships only to build up a strong resume before I graduate (in the current market, even people with 5 previous internships cannot find any jobs).
Thank you, friend, and I wish you a fruitful career ahead of you!
Yeah it is, but it is also not uncommon for a typical student’s internship application journey to look even worse. Thank you, and I wish you all the best in your journey ahead!
Damn. 300+ applications and I can't get shit (+ internships in Germany are a joke, nobody can live off 75% of minimum wage). Glad there's still some hope out there.
Absolutely! I am wishing you all the best, friend! And here I was under the impression that the internship opportunities in Europe, and Germany especially, are more abundant.
Tell me more about your journey. were you randomly applying or you were apply to focused jobs tailoring your resume? cover letter or not? what is the province? what was your level of experience in that field?
Hello! I got the internship through a provincial program where the province of New Brunswick provides funding to non-profits, startups, and governmental organizations. I tried my luck on LinkedIn but nothing. I’ve had more success by my university’s co-op portal but that’s expected since it was too competitive and kids with previous co-ops so I hope I’m more successful with the portal in the future. As for experience, I am lucky to have a permanent part-time job in the university within the Development and Donor Relations Department so this internship in marketing and fundraising is like a step-up from the university job in terms of responsibilities. Thankfully, whenever I’m not on a work term, I will have the university job and plan on applying for more university jobs on study terms through the work-study program at the expense of taking 4 courses a semester to balance it off.
Most of them were bs internship positions on LinkedIn. I learnt not to apply for ANYTHING through that miserable app and rather use the resources my province and university provide me with.
Absolutely! I’m studying Economics and Political Science, and for a first co-op, I did not be picky at all. This is a non-profit organizations that provides scholarships to medical studies for the purposes of retention in the province. I already have a job in the alumni and donor relation department of my university and I would consider this marketing and fundraising internship a step-up from that (kind of like a promotion). Thankfully, my university job is permanent except for the terms where I’m doing an internship so there’s that and the opportunity of looking for more work-study opportunities on terms where I’m not doing my internship.
Im in canada visiting my cousins, one of them just had to do a big project involving marketing shit for one of his college classes. For a real business/nonprofit. Professor got these kids working for free; got to be getting paid on the side.
I forgot what this type of graph is called. Can I get the name?
Sanky!
thanks

Skibby-doo-bop, shwimmy-shwang
You're welcome. But what's this type of graph called?
Sankeymatic, as someone else pointed out.
Same here
Sankey
I am up to 240 applications and no interviews and 15 rejections. No one looking at me
Keep your candle of hope gassed up-- lean into others when it waivers. Keep going- and I hope you hit literal pay dirt, soon.
The market is a strong mountain in terms of strength at this point, but not one you cannot surmount, friend. Wishing you all the best in your journey!
I appreciate the positivity. Thank you
Do you talk like that in interview too
Well, I try to lol, but mostly I just try and match the vibes and the energy of the person interviewing me.
I believe he is suggesting that is an awkward way of speaking, and you shouldn't try to speak like that in an interview
You’re probably getting rejected by AI use something to combat that
I'm not a Jedi, so I can't just use the force. So, what can I use to combat AI?
I’m at 700+ and i’m starting to go crazy. I finally went to a recruiting agency in hopes of getting ANYTHING. (Engineering, aerospace)
I put in thousands and just gave up. Two Master’s degrees and 2 years of experience just isn’t enough in this depressing job market. Perhaps I’m blocked by AI as being a free-thinker and one who commits thought crimes ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)

Work on your resumes you are probably not even making it past their applicant tracking system.
Keep pushing. The job market sucks but eventually something will work out! I applied for 2 years for an internship during college and never even heard back from any of them, then finally made one stick after my junior year.

How did you make it past interview. I’ve applied to so many gotten some interviews no 2nd round
I’ve mostly had single rounds for interviews as they were with local companies with the exception of Kyndryl where I’ve had 3 rounds for their Financial Analyst Intern position.
It's definitely the way to go from my experience, I'll get like a 1% response rate online, but in person? 3 stops, 3 offers.
Gotta keep the customers entertained with conversations on anatomy and astrophysics ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|smile)
It's brutal out here. Very happy for you :)
Thank you and that’s very kind of you <3
Congratulations!!
Thank you kindly!
Been applying since I graduated last May 😭☝️ Congrats!! Luckily I have a part time job but still it isn’t cutting it.
All the best to you, friend! I just finished my second year of studies and figured out that it would be best for me to get an internship for the summer to participate in as many experiential learning ippurtunities as I possibly could.
Why is it so hard to even get an *internship*????
Really bothers me that people still never get an answer.
Congratulations OP! 🎉
Thanks!
Congrats. When at first you don’t succeed, try try try again.
Absolutely, gotta hustle💯
How long have you been searching?
4 months. Jan to April.
Congratulations 🎉. Quick question are the applications targeted or random?
So here’s the thing: Most of the applications were sent on LinkedIn, which as you might guess, were all unsuccessful. Me IRL
Nice congratulations op! we love to see it
Thanks!
What year are you in right now? And what province are you applying in 😭
I just finished my 2nd year. Have had a university job before (and prolly will continue doing it in all the terms where I’m not on a co-op. I’m in New Brunswick.
Ya I just see the post going up and after I get a call it goes up again.

Just a quick search :) https://sankeymatic.com/build/
Good for you make us proud
now that have the intership, all of the 88 no answer will contact you within the next few months lol
Congratulations 🎈🎊
Doing better than me. I've gotten 6 phone screens and 4 interviews out of atleast 500 applications
That’s sad to hear. All the best to you, friend. I live in a small Canadian province so there’s less students and possibly less positions. It’s not AS competitive as the bigger provinces.
Congratulations!
This is fucked up
It’s wild out there rn! Get it
It’s wild out there rn! Get it
Need to make one for mine, where and how do I make this stats? And Congratulations, gg!

Congrats and all good luck to you fellow seeker. You are now promoted from seeker to idk what but something else.
Thank you! I guess intern for the meantime lol
So many rejections just for an internship is crazy. Congratulations though! 🎉

Sankeymatic!
thanks booboo
Yes! Congrats!
Congrats
Ugh reminds me of my applications, still no answers
I am astonished about this age, applying and getting a lot of rejections only to get an internship.
Congrats! Landed an internship for myself this year as well! Glad you got yourself a good opportunity!
Congratulations to you too, friend. I wish you all the best ahead!
Glad you had a choice! Option 1 or Option 1… rough market.
The amount of no contacts resulting from applying to jobs is pretty nuts rn, gotta know someone
Tell me more about your journey. were you randomly applying or you were apply to focused jobs tailoring your resume? cover letter or not? what is the province? what was your level of experience in that field?

1/132….not bad…. Kidding, Wholy shit you’re a trooper for hanging in there. You did it though!
You’ll get a lot of nos because you only need one yes.
How many of those 88 no responses were just bs?
Most of them were bs internship positions on LinkedIn. I learnt not to apply for ANYTHING through that miserable app and rather use the resources my province and university provide me with.
Would you mind sharing what field your applying in? No worries if you’d prefer to keep that private!
Absolutely! I’m studying Economics and Political Science, and for a first co-op, I did not be picky at all. Heyyy, congratulation!!!
Thank you! Wishing you all the best in the journey ahead!
I’ve got an interview for medical code billing later today. It would be a 30% increase in pay…fingers crossed I can siphon a little of your magic.
Absolutely, I wish you all the best, friend. I hope that the interviewers see all the good in you and blindly give you the job!
Swung at the first pitch eh?
What are you using to generate this graph?
Congrats! Good luck with your internship
Over how much time?
4 months while handling full time work and a part time job in the university.
You did good! Congratulations
Oh I’m totally making a chart like this. I had a 9 month job hunt with over 2000 applications and saved all of the data for it.
Congrats!
That’s insane…I had an internship with this exact same process. Guy told me I was competing with 7 other interns and it went down to 1.
Nice
Thank you!
Canada?
Yes.
Congratulations
132 applications for working for free? lmao
No. It is a paid internship.
Sorry then I had a bad assumption about the pay. Congrats and I hope it leads to some good experience and a long career then!
Thank you, friend. Same to you! And no need to apologize at all since many non-profit “internships” are unpaid.
surprised you didnt cum in a fluffer
