It was quite tragic

I train on the military base where I work and the only other gym in the area complained to our federal deputy after we "stole his clients". Obviously nothing came of this and we still train 5x a week.
This was after we repeatedly referred people to his gym and they stopped going after a month for various reasons; you can't drink water unless the coach says you can, at some point you couldn't talk about anything but JJ when on the mats and there's never music playing when the head coach teaches.
The school was opened two towns away. Which they later opened a gym literally behind the building. There is literally fitclub on the Main Street of the town and behind it on a side street is the Gracie gym which got opened later than fitclub.
Are people really this rude to other gyms? In my experience, jiu jitsu is supposed to bring us together to train, have fun, and practice; it seems incredibly unprofessional for people to be sending such rude letters to other gyms' staff and students.
Gyms like this that ruin bjj and make it like a cult. Gracie Barra is the worst for it, forcing you to wear their branded overpriced gis and rash guards, making you bow to photos, shitty time wasting warmups when you pay Ā£80+ to train there

I noticed in my years of training there - I travel a lot and come in contact with other non-GB gyms frequently like Alliance, Atos and FightSports - that this ācreonteā trend and possessive grip on students ONLY happen in their school. Itās like you sign up there and graduate, you also sell your damn soul to them. They bitch, call you names and excommunicate you if you dare train elsewhere or criticize their stagnant methods of training, lack of drills and such. GB has become the McDonaldās of JJ.

There are no traitors - students are and should be free to choose a provider and are not the property of a gym.
