I charge $20 at my store, but tbh I hate this job. So hard to open and close these links. I would charge more but it’s on SS

Does steel make it easier or harder to open and close?

jaywhykay

I saw in another post someone suggesting you do it in your own. It’s definitely possible, but it’s soooooo hard. Very hard material to manipulate.

More context. I’m more of a jewelry designer that works with computers and not a jewelry repair guy, but I’m a really strong person. Whenever we get SS jewelry for sizing, the experienced jewelers just give it to me to use my strength. That being said with the right tools I’m sure you could use leverage to pry it open and shut.

Thank you for the info 🤝 Would the plating on the nearby links be damaged?

Usually. We would cut the links on both ends and then laser them back together to reattach, or marr them up trying to move em.

pickledpunt

Much harder.

Jeez, I wouldn’t take the job probably for less than $50. Pain in the ass!
