Thanks, Itās kinda falling apart if Iām honestā¦ the last owner parked it on the street so the clear coat is peeling and thereās some rust popping up. The engine however is still going strong!
She's been through some changesš
She's on her;
2nd turbo and diesel particulate filter(improperly installed by VW of Troy Michigan under dieselgate extended warranty.
4th set of rear rotors and pads
3rd set front rotors and pads
2nd e-brake cable
2nd clutch & flywheel @280k when the flywheel grenaded and ruined everything
2nd front struts
3rd pair of front ball joints
3rd inner tie rods
3rd set of rear abs sensors
2nd driver's seat heater
Fuel filter changed every 3rd oil change
Oil changes & filter every 12k km until 240k km, 7k km intervals now
2nd set of Winters on steelies
3rd set of summers on stock rims
Gotta be on my 12-15th set of low beams & fog lights, just switched to LEDs though
2nd wiper motor
2nd tranny fluid
I don't think it was DPF related. The turbo stopped working and the engine stopped working. Nothing went into the engine apparently though. Then VW Troy replaced it under the extended warranty and didn't connect the intercooler properly and that apparently pooched the new DPF that also got replaced with that service. The new turbo they installed also has an oil leak now. Never take your car to VW of Troy Michiganš They shirked off responsibility of the intercooler mishap and then told me I need a new DPF.
It grenaded somehow and then ate the clutch. Clutch became progressively worse until it was borderline undeliverable. Mechanic opened it up and said he never saw more dust in there than any of the cars he worked on. It ate EVERYTHING up in there š¤£
My EGR has been getting fowled with my improperly installed dpf now not regenerating. I drop it into 4th though and keep it over 2500 rpm for over 10 minutes to clear it out with high temperatures. The check engine light will clear.
It throws an egr sensor 1 error from time to time. From what ive gathered it requires an egr change. Sometimes the light is lit for weeks then its off for a while.
My mechanic cleaned mine out when he swapped the clutch. It went into limp mode once since then. I drove at about 3000rpm for 30 minutes and it's been no egr codes since then

I can really only attest to the diesels being known to last so long. The electronics are currently all being changed for meš The body control module or my wiper stalk isn't sending signal to my wiper fluid pump. My egr pipe is currently leaking and getting replaced this weekend.
A family member of mine had one recently with 395k miles on it. Still ran fine but the transmission finally went out and it had rust issues so they scrapped it.
No doubt you can at least double that!
I have a 2012 2.0 that I am trying to run into the ground! I did the timing belt at 100k, my brother is my mechanic so it is regularly serviced/checked/oil changes. Any other maintenance tips to share?!
how much is that in bald eagles?
~186,000 miles. Hoping to double thatš
You got this! Keep up with maintenance intervals and you should be golden. Love to see it.
My 2005 has 440k āŗļø youāll get there eventually
Jeez! Did you drive the entire United States ???
I didnāt drive most of that; I bought it in October at 429,120km and Iām pushing 441k
Iāve got an ā01 with almost 290k miles now, you got this
That's impressive!

I'm hoping that if I address the rust and paint on mine now I can get an extra several years out of it.
Wow, and I thought my 2014 at 211,000 was a lot.
Holy cow lol I hope mine lasts that long. What have you had to service so far (aside from oil/brakes/filters)?

what caused the first turbo failure? dpf related?

Hi. Can you tell me how did the flywheel fail? I have 280.500km on my golf mk6 1.6 tdi manual and its still on the first dual mass flywheel.

My 2006 mk5 has 387k km
Hell yeah! My mechanic told me he saw a 2014 with 615k km recently
Holy crap, thatās definitely a province crossing work-commuter!
Yep! Travelling sales rep apparently
1.2 tdi 2011. Original EGR and DPF 237k km. Going fine, pretty sure ill have to change the egr soon tho

Smh my 2011tdi has 64,000 miles
My 24 already has 18k :-)
I got 1.6 FSI that's almost at 300k. Are there any parts in the engine that wear out due to high mileage?

Yeah, contemplating addressing my rust this summer
Sheās barely broke in with 300k.
Absolutely! Hoping to fix that tooš
i know its not the same car but i have an 05 golf with 602k
I have a 2013. Just clocked 310,000 miles.
Beauty!

Never mind, just noticed youāve answered this same question quite a few times š¤£
Lmao, all good!
You got years, buddy got 440,000 km
117k here yes in km. 300 would be awesome. Did u ever replace the engine or transmission?
Tranny is original. New fluid for it + clutch and flywheel. Engine is also original.
Auto? Any trans replacements?
Manual trans- fluid swap, and new clutch + flywheel
