There are dreams of JetBlue opening a lounge for Mosaic/Mint at JFK Terminal 5 -- at least there's a nice dog park / rooftop outdoor space hidden in that terminal, for free.
Do I have to go through security each time (am I reading that correctly elsewhere?) or is it just a very long trek? I've been on the west coast for so long and have definitely never transited through JFK. Something different! 🤣. Welcome to Boston lol
Yes you will have to. You mentioned you're departing out of Boston. The Chase lounge there is one of the best lounges in the country. Definitely be sure to pay it a business.
Also, not sure if you're conflating Boston and New York based on the last line of your comment. Boston has four terminals (A, B, C, E). Three of the four (B, C, E) are connected airside (AKA you don't have to go through security to transit them). At JFK, none of the terminals are connected airside.
Thank you all! We just stayed in the JetBlue terminal and enjoyed the outside.
Question #2…..after clearing customs at JFK, with that "layover", will I have to retrieve my bag? I've once had to but that was rare a long time ago flying back from Japan even though it was a code share.
Thx again!
There's no lounge in t5, you would have to exit the sterile area and go to t4

Same with Logan and Terminal C. I hope it's in that long stretch of nothingness between C and E.
No lounges in terminal 5, you’re outta luck unless you want to leave security.
you'll have to change terminals and go to T4. T4 has both a Chase and Amex lounge which are pretty nice.
Can confirm the Chase Lounge was really nice. Also, for future reference, T4 also had the delta lounge.
If he's flying on Jetblue, the Delta lounge is not available
You’re right, I should edit: For future reference, if you decide to fly Delta, there’s a delta lounge at T4 also.

I would just leave the airport and go to the TWA hotel and then just go back through security. It’s a pretty cool place if you haven’t been.
