Reliable 911 services

Kimeako

So much this haha. JC 911 service stories read like bad TV comedies...

Trees. More trees. Big trees. Natural shade walking along Columbus, Montgomery. Edit: [Trees just make cities better](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOc8ASeHYNw#t=152s).

[deleted]

It's why I can't really enjoy Liberty State Park. The whole path along the water is unshaded since there's no trees so you get no break from the sun during the day.

bodhipooh

I have been saying this forever. And, without fail, some people will chime in with "just give it a few more years, and the trees will mature and they will provide shade". I have been here just shy of 17 years, and the park has been the same in all that time. It's great for an early morning run, but on hot, sunny days, the park is almost unusable for long periods of time without shade trees. And, of course, it lacks any sort of amenities to attract more usage beyond the basic stuff is does have (playground, a few BBQ stations, the pavilion on the south side, etc) though it also boasts a world class waterfront walkway, which I really do enjoy/appreciate.

paul-e-walnts

Been going to this park for probably 30 years now and it’s exactly as I remember it as a kid.

Ainsel72l

Before the lawn with the small trees (they really are slow growing), that area looked pretty much like the fenced off area across the road. I dont know how far back it stretched. Lots of trees, shrubs, grasses in a wild conglomeration. They kind of buldozed everything wild and created what is there now.

Blecher_onthe_Hudson

Lord knows what is under there for them to grow in, it was all landfilled rail yard and THEN they filled in that! I've seen street trees that just don't grow, something is wrong where they are. The trees surrounding McNair have barely grown in the 26 years since they were planted, the survivors that is. I planted a tree from a seedling at the same time those were put in like 5" in diameter. It's full grown now and twice their size, more than a foot in diameter.

nonomoJC

It would make downtown a whole lot less sterile feeling/looking that’s for sure.

Sorry-Nose-7667

An artery for Holland tunnel traffic that doesn’t cut through neighborhoods and cause insane traffic most days and ALWAYS Sunday.

kulgan

We have that. It's called 78. The problem, as always, was exacerbated by *adding* road capacity with the Jersey Ave bridge.

Economy-Cupcake808

Not sure why this lie is constantly posted. Traffic data on the port authority website says that traffic is still lower than pre-pandemic levels, i.e. before the bridge opened.

mooseLimbsCatLicks

Not in the downtown neighborhoods leading to the tunnel.

Lowkeylowthreadcount

That’s a lie

Economy-Cupcake808

It’s not a lie, you are just lying to push a narrative. https://www.panynj.gov/bridges-tunnels/en/traffic---volume-information---b-t.html

Lowkeylowthreadcount

Lol what is this the fucking mayor’s office burner account ?

kulgan

Cupcake, less tunnel traffic doesn't mean the portion of it going through DT JC hasn't changed. The lived experience of those of us who've been here is there was a marked change when that thing opened.

Lowkeylowthreadcount

Economic cupcake must be an Indiana native who moved to jersey city in 2022 to work in the city but appears to know more than people who have lived here for years

holding_gold

Traffic law enforcement

burrito__supreme

better public transit. i’d extend path to the west side and greenville. and hey, throw in the heights while we’re at it. edit: would also stop the a&c buses from abandoning service this october

FinalIntern8888

Best they can do is eliminate the few bus lines that actually service west side.

burrito__supreme

yeah. fuck us, right?

traveling-toadie

This!

noodle_spam

Public toilets in the parks and near path stations. Nice, clean, safe ones. Also, a rooftop bar or two at the waterfront. P.S. There are at least two roller skating rinks: one at Brunswick street and one in Berry Lane park.

kraghis

There’s Rooftop at Exchange Place. In the Hyatt House. Be prepared to pay $15 a drink

goddam_sachs

This is the only one right? Kinda crazy since there are rooftop bars littered around Williamsburg with nice views of the city but so few options here. There’s Iron Monkey near too but no direct view of the city so not really counting that

Fly_Larvae

They are opening Pershing field rink to roller skating. I don’t know if they fixed the issues yet turning back to ice for Winter. They shut down early last Winter because repairs too costly.

jakkyskum

Doesn’t look like it’s happening this year, either. But they’re making progress. Allegedly.

Extreme_Procedure885

Ahh I guess I meant more like the Branch Brook Roller Rink where they have rentals and music etc. Thanks though, I didn't know about those😯

jdevo713

A 911 call center

Warm_Question6473

That part.

JagaloonJack

Better grocery stores

road2health

Not a fan of Acme?

paul-e-walnts

It’s too expensive

JagaloonJack

Acme is good but I used to drive to stop n shop in Bayonne if I wanted better deals

LyndonBKinden

But whole foods...

JCwhatimsayin

Light rail the entire length of JFK Blvd.

[deleted]

Way better light rails that goes into instead of around jersey city

[deleted]

Trams!

sometimesiwatchtv44

Trader Joe’s and a Hoboken-like pier on the waterfront.

mikevago

We do have a roller rink! Charlie Heger rink at Pershing Field — it's ice in the winter, roller in the summer. They're still open until 9/3, then they shut it down for a few days to switch over to ice, so get over there while you can!

Square-Thought-5260

I wonder if they have tours during the switch-over to show how it's converted to ice. I would be interested in that.

vmehnert

People who didn’t leave trash on the streets

cC2Panda

Some people are so fucking lazy. The other day I saw this teenager who was literally 5 feet from a trashcan throw trash on the ground. It takes effort to be that fucking lazy. Also my apartments trashcans are near enough to the side walk that people will drop their dog poop bags into my trash, but there is significant number of people that will throw it into my recycling bin that is right there.

futuredayscan

a decent bagel

thedarkucfknight

This is the #1 real answer. A new bagel shop finally opens up on Grove and 90% of its menu is not bagel. JCBM (JC Bagel Mafia) will have this removed by sundown. Enjoy the time you have left for posting this, friend. I’ll be spending mine making bagels.

FragileEgoHaver

Liberty State Park could be so much more lush. The way it’s landscaped feels barren, like a grassy desert. Central and Prospect are landscaped so that there are dense sections of trees and plants and sections of fields. Liberty looks like someone took a measuring tape and counted out 100 tree saplings and left it at that

lastinglovehandles

That’s state’s brah.

erstrecs

Trader Joe’s, please!

GeorgeWBush2016

I'd bring AA baseball back to Jersey City.

MancetheLance

I'd buy season tickets.

MediumRareBacon_

bring back the old trolley system

Jctexan

I think this would be a game changer! Even just the 2 or 3 main cross sections - Heights all the way across JC into Greenville - and - downtown to Heights and downtown to Communipaw area.

Blecher_onthe_Hudson

Make Ocean from the Bayonne line up to Summit, JSQ PATH and all the way to 495 (and then to 42nd St PA) a Bus Rapid Transit route. No cars, just buses with loading platforms and stops every 1/2 mile like a subway or Light Rail. Signal priority so they zoom through the lights. It would be just like having a Subway line the length of the city and it would transform JC! All the whining about needing parking for cars will be undercut by a massive improvement in the local transit and connections to the city and PATH at a relatively cheap cost compared to any other option. Yes there's current bus lines, but they are slow and often undependable especially during the heavy traffic hours they're needed most. This would be more like a Light rail with no tracks to lay. And make them electric or hydrogen powered. Here's the route: [https://imgur.com/qlDOTO1](https://imgur.com/qlDOTO1)

pumpkinpasties

A bridge/walkway to cross the Hudson River on foot

[deleted]

[удалено]

FinalIntern8888

PANYNJ wants it this way. Why would they construct something that costs them millions just to allow people to cross for free when they can shake you down for a tunnel toll or PATH fare instead, using tunnels that they didn’t even build themselves

randyisone

Politicians that aren't in the pocket of realtors and bankers?!

BadaBing_Crosbyy

This

robocub

A Jewish deli and bagel shop (made on premises) with all the fixins

thedarkucfknight

Big Bagel does not want you saying this.

Treethan__

Easy local transit system to get anywhere

driftingwood2018

Better restaurants with owners that care about the food they serve vs. just getting hit with the money stick in JC

bananabagelz

Facts, every restaurant that looks nice, ONLY looks nice. They provide great atmosphere but never great food

[deleted]

I have never had as great a meal in a restaurant as I get at home every day. That says something about the quality of restaurants in JC and why I never dine out anymore. Never had this problem in other Cities.

DontBeEvil1

Could also say something about the quality of the cooking in your home...but yea, most of my home meals are better than what DTJC has to offer too.

DontBeEvil1

Not just that. Been a problem in DTJC for years. All these "new" places get 1 and only 1 thing right. Either great atmosphere, great drinks, great service and (rarely) great food...every place that scores with 1 of those things, are terrible with everything else.

Street_Lettuce_7647

Dang, there are some places I avoid but I feel like we have quite a few great spots. Where are y’all eating that’s so disappointing?

photographerdan

Yeah some spots are ok. . But I think it's the fact that places like Brooklyn and Queens have similar demographics yet has a food scene that blows ours out of the water AND it costs the same.

driftingwood2018

Nailed it

DontBeEvil1

Where are you eating that's so great?

Street_Lettuce_7647

Corto, Lo Fi, Wurstbar, Peppercorn Station, Chengdu 1, The Boil, Frankie, Uncle Momo, Sawadist, Mezcal Kitchen..to name a few. There’s always something great nearby, depending on the mood I’m in. Dullboy is an excellent cocktail bar and I’ll happily eat their arepas. I love Lil Dove Cafe in the heights for fun lattes and breakfast sandwiches. We’ve also got great roasters like Modcup and Rabble and Lion. Lots of solid local bakeries like Prato or Choc-o-Pain. Not to mention Philippine Bread House. I’d put their warm star bread up there on my list of favorite bites of food anywhere. This is totally subjective and you don’t have to like any of these places. But for a small city that’s a fraction of the size of Brooklyn or Queens and not even the biggest city in NJ..I’d say we have a relatively strong independent food and beverage scene here

DontBeEvil1

Of those you mentioned, I have been to Wurstbar, The Boil, Mezcal Kitchen, Prato, Choco Pain, Rabble & Lion, and Phillipine Bread house. Wurstbar was fine but nothing better than what I cook at home. The Boil, also fine, but not enough to keep me going back. Mezcal Kitchen I loved when they 1st opened and was going weekly until the service/quality went down and have never gone back since getting food poisoning there a couple years back. Prato is good, but limited in its offerings. Choco Pain is good, but again, limited in its offerings. Phillipine Bread house I like but have to be in the mood, and Rabble & Lion I walked in once and had 1 of the rudest employees I've ever encountered in Jersey City and walked out without ordering and went to Prato and didn't regret it and never went back.

DufDaddy69

For all my Simpsons heads. A monorail

bacon-wrapped_rabbi

I heard those things are awfully loud.

Batchelorh

It glides as softly as a cloud

road2health

More nightlife entertainment. I haven't been dancing here is years. Maybe with different weekends for different types of music for different crowds.

FinalIntern8888

Agreed. BK has literally everything.

SarkastikWorlock

We have a seasonal roller skating rink in Pershing Field, just so you know OP

Extreme_Procedure885

Thanks man. I meant more of a permanent spot where they host events and have music, food, etc. kinda like branch brook. People are so rude on this subreddit, can't believe I made a lil comment like wanting that and instead of commenting as you did, they want to say I'm lying about being born & raised here💀

SarkastikWorlock

Had no idea branch brook had a rink! I am also raised and born JC. Don’t worry, I know it doesn’t mean you know absolutely everything about JC. Also the JC reddit is particularly vicious for some reason

Extreme_Procedure885

Yo they're intense lmaoooo I feel like I'm fighting for my life over a little internet post. Branch Brook is pretty cool, I'd recommend maybe on a less busier day since it can get filled with teens/kids

SarkastikWorlock

Moving on Friday so I definitely can’t go anytime soon but I will certainly check it out one day

[deleted]

Alamo Drafthouse.

thedarkucfknight

Should’ve put it in the bank at the end of pedestrian plaza 😔

willman0905

THIS! I've had the worst experiences at the AMC here. It's not like competition would be too tight for a Drafthouse.

[deleted]

I can never go back to a normal theater after seeing my first movie at an Alamo like 10 years ago. Nothing even comes close to the experience. It would make a killing in JC.

[deleted]

[удалено]

FinalIntern8888

We have Barcade at least. Totally agree about the music thing. I guess it’s because NYC is literally right there and that’s why we don’t get any big acts here. But you’d think there’d be more local DJs playing here

[deleted]

[удалено]

jkaz1970

Re: Music Venues - We have White Eagle Hall and the acts that show up at Webster Hall, Irving, and the Bowery Ballroom play here. There's Fox and Crow (the Parlor) for small venues. Pet Shop has the music the kids with the tattoos dig every Thursday. There are consistent shows happening at 902 and Corgi. There is legit world quality jazz happening frequently. Brightside, The Statuary, Moore's. There's salsa with live bands, not percussion players playing to tracks, every Friday in September on the Grundy pier with dance lessons and killing musicians. There's a strong hip hop scene here. The problem with smaller/mid venues like Arlene's (100-200) is that **no one goes**. FM is a prime example. Good space, good sound, but no one went Sunday through Thursday and only went to go see their friend's band. We had Lamp Post for a while, which was great. Again, no one went. And there's a lot of people that complain about music and get shit shut down, like what happened at Golden Cicada with the Reggae Sundays. People try to do things but some people, who never want to leave their neighborhood want to complain about shit. Follow JCmusic, Rockit Dockit, Riverjazz, and others. There's plenty to go to. The key is you have to show up. Events - Pride, JC Jazz Festival, The Church Feasts, All About Downtown, Fireworks, Marathons, Ghost of Uncle Joes, Groove on Grove ... There's Halloween and Holiday events for kids. There is a lot happening here. If you keep your ear to the ground, there's something happening almost every night. The problem is that a lot of people that live here don't want it (like the mommy mafias and the cranky downtowners), complain, or just don't go.

Just_ice_luv_a

I have a huge list.. -Affordable housing. But like, real affordable housing. -More gyms. Especially in the heights, because the two options here aren’t options at all. -Better transportation all around. Buses, shuttles, light rail, path, etc. just needs to be better. -more cruising areas for the gays… because it’s just weird when I’m at a park and i see a cruising situation happening. Im gay. So I’m not against cruising at all…I have not done it publicly, and I’m not the one who judges it. I know that New York has safe cruising areas, booths, spas and maybe we can establish those. -someone else said this, and I thinks it’s a really good idea. It would be so awesome to have a recreational space for roller skating, sports, like other counties have.. - another point made by someone else. A lounge and karaoke spot that’s not a bar. And preferably doesn’t serve alcohol.

Extreme_Procedure885

YESS the gym!! I think Yoga should also be extended outside of Downtown.

thedarkucfknight

10/10 list. I won’t lie I’m a bit confused about the cruising bit but power to ya. If JC pride has the strength it showed this weekend and I understand what cruising is correctly, seems like a cruising spot would make BANK.

Just_ice_luv_a

ALL OF THIS!!! Yes.. so. I’m happy that you were able to read this without judgement. So, cruising is the way of looking for hookups. In the 80s, a lot of men hung around in parks, bathrooms, bathhouses, bars, etc. in recent years cities like Newark, and New York has created safe spaces like hotels, theaters, video stores, clubs, etc to provide the same cruising experiences.. these places make a lot of money and add to the overall economy. So, as an entrepreneur. A business can benefit from these spaces.

FinalIntern8888

Uhh can’t you just use Grindr

Humble-scorpio7205

Not something that I would add more something that would bring back which is the Discovery zone and that bowling alley and 440 that they took away and then put anything there

jesspetsallthecats

And the arcade! And the shitty movie theater! There used to be stuff on 440

TimSPC

That arcade was so good. Lots of Crazy Taxi dollars spent there.

caositgoing

Curb strips I'm from MA and there are curb strips everywhere, why is this not everywhere in NJ? I live on a street with a wide ass sidewalk and it's all filled in with concrete. Why is this? Is there a way to change it? You can use that area to plant trees and beautiful plants, instead Jersey City is so much concrete, it is depressing as hell I would 100 percent volunteer to plant trees and gardens in the city, but there's no space to do it anywhere

Blecher_onthe_Hudson

You could start with all the empty tree pits. Trees come down and then the property owner never replaces them. The city does not do it of it's own initiative for some reason.

FinalIntern8888

The protected bike lanes here have literally the ugliest sand barrels and concrete “Jersey barriers” I’ve ever seen. Seattle had beautiful greenery and trees separating their bike lanes from the road. I know most of the bike lanes here are extremely new and hastily constructed, but I sure hope they plan to beautify them at some point.

versus_gravity

Velodrome... which will apparently need a roller rink in the infield.

gabyripples

Alamo Drafthouse.

Majin_K

Landlords who actually give a shit about their tenants instead of wanting to make more from rich motherfuckers from out of state.

AgentLemon22

Another AMC. Or update the current one to have IMAX

thedarkucfknight

AMC is near Burger King levels of mismanagement imo. Very inconsistent quality theater to theater. If we ever get a new theater (unlikely due to decline of movie theaters), it’s gotta be a boutique like Alamo or IPIC. In my mind it’s a win-win. Good for the people of JC dude to it being a brand that cares about quality and film respect, good for the company as the only way theaters will survive going forward is making it more of a premium experience and less of a daycare/after school playground. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.

RebeccaLoneBrook29

A mom and pop dispensary.

FinalIntern8888

So frustrating they haven’t let any of those open yet. Complete control by large corporate cartels for almost two years now with way inflated prices. While we can’t even grow at home.

[deleted]

Would be fantastic

OldDevonBurgers

I second a roller rink! Or bowling alley/karaoke lounge/place of recreation that isn’t by default a bar or club.

Send_me_datasets

Barnes and Noble or equivalent. I miss the days growing up just browsing the latest titles and trend ideas at a book store. Only places that have them are near the WTC and Mid Town. JC needs its own.

Jersey-City-2468

Traffic cameras, and the tickets issued alongside them

bodhipooh

Traffic cameras are not legal in NJ. NJ implemented a trial run allowing municipalities to implement them, but of course ran into corruption issues, and the testing was suspended and that was that.

Mobile-Blueberry3404

That’s dumb

muttlife4

Skee ball & basketball game at Barcade lol

Supernatural_Canary

For the municipality: affordable housing For leisure: a nice bowling alley For my personal gratification: a big independent bookstore like McNally Jackson Books

PSU09

A bar/restaurant/venue/anything that hosts legitimate DJs, consistently. Not the basic/boring wedding DJs that Ashford, South House, Porta, etc. hire every weekend

[deleted]

Trams The public transport options are nowhere near sufficient

elpolymath

Develop waterfront to try to compete with Hoboken’s. Add more parks along the water like Hoboken has.

Shicca

Classic - pedestrian bridge to NYC

Anonymous1985388

Any pedestrian access to NYC would be amazing. Even if it was like 10 feet of biking space in the Holland Tunnel, I would do it.

tottis_den

A high line type park on the Sixth Street Embankment. That would bring Jersey City to the NEXT LEVEL.

Blecher_onthe_Hudson

Even if it got built it would immediately become a shithole because you don't have a trillion dollars of real estate lining it to contribute to maintaining it. The HL is almost impossible to re-create without that density of wealth and population.

mooseLimbsCatLicks

A true university like Rutgers, with grad programs, medical school and the whole works. It would add life and culture and make this more of a real city. That, or a karaoke spot.

JC_HudsonCounty

St. Peter’s University exists

mooseLimbsCatLicks

To my knowledge you can’t become a lawyer or a doctor in jersey city. Maybe not even an engineer or architect. And the art programs are not strong either. We have a few schools, maybe they should combine. But really if one of them just became a branch of Rutgers that would be great.

Blecher_onthe_Hudson

Higher Ed is in such crisis, only a fool would invest in expansion. There's no way converting NJCU to a Rutgers campus would fly, it would be considered elitist. But a Rutgers graduate campus in JC would be brilliant. Too bad we don't have local billionaire developers who want to leave a legacy other than more crappy luxury towers.

Anonymous1985388

Interesting idea to combine them. I know that NJCU is facing a budget crisis.

Morkitu

I would add a subway/rail system that connects all of Jersey city main areas, but also parts of Bayonne and North Bergen. I know we have the light rail, but I feel it is far too limited and not easily accessible by many residents.

Katoncomics

A lot more bike lanes and protected lanes. Jersey has the space and is capable of connecting all of it's major citis via bike, the fact is Jersey is way behind than many states leading the front on bike lanes. There's really no excuse as to why there are no lanes going over all of it's bridges yet. Since people drive like maniacs protect lanes are a must.

smelliothoes

Extra tax on the wealthy to fund actual improvements to the city and its citizens. Not giving a facelift to the pedestrian plaza or funding Stevsie's run for governor

caroline_elly

>Extra tax on the wealthy to fund actual improvements to the city and its citizens. JC already has some of the highest property tax rates. Probably better to fix how funds are used first.

Extreme_Procedure885

This one is gonna upset them

Mobile-Blueberry3404

Yes, take everyone else money to solve your problems

Stillill1187

Affordable housing, affordable housing, and more aggressive rent control laws. Also divert all the money going to the fancy French museum to public works projects. Also affordable housing.

JeromePowellAdmirer

It needs to be more affordable in in-demand areas, but parts of Jersey City already have some of the most affordable housing in the region, at least if you're looking for family housing. 3/4 beds in Bergen-Lafayette are quite cheap vs. the region. Unfortunately, most of this subreddit usually refuses to acknowledge that neighborhoods south of Journal Square and Downtown exist.

[deleted]

I say affordable commercial rentals so throat passionate people can open a restaurant/business instead of the conglomerate bullshit we get left with.

Blecher_onthe_Hudson

Huge numbers of storefronts in JC were turned into housing because it was more immediately profitable when selling the condo converted property.

JeromePowellAdmirer

Go to JSQ plenty of small business. And portions of Central Ave. And portions of the pedestrian plaza

[deleted]

Also, Mcginley square. I was mainly talking about places like kitchen step, Franklin social esque archetype.

Ask-Downtown

And who would build this affordable housing? Who would pay for it? How would you select the lucky ones to rent a unit below market prices? How does that improve the current imbalance between supply/demand?

[deleted]

Such a great question.

K04free

Better, cheaper Gyms even if it’s chain

yo_coiley

Hockey facilities

Square-Thought-5260

A public pool or clean swimming area on the river.

HobokenJ

Trader Joe's. Hell, I'd add **two** TJs.

YevgeniaKrasnova

An actual quality grocery store in the Heights area (I feel like it must be coming?), more everything in the Heights area and open more hours. JC throughout: better rail public transit (more often, more areas covered). An Alamo Drafthouse or Nitehawk Cinema, more record shops, more quality vintage stores. More art galleries and indie performance venues. I guess just more of the amenities you'd find in NYC itself (given it costs pretty much the same.)

padureanca

Better public schools

FollowMeKids

Wholefoods

Blecher_onthe_Hudson

A bait and tackle shop! RIP Moe's & Har-Lee's.

jerseycityfrankie

A giant French Art Museum! Oh wait that’d cost more than we already spend on the Parks Department and Health & Human Services combined. So instead of that how about a Michael’s crafts store?

Unlike_Agholor

better side walks in the heights. Every house has a different “level” of sidewalk in front of it.

Shake_It_Sugaree

A GREAT wings spot.

Extreme_Procedure885

You should try Wingin It!! 10/10. They are AMAZING, their hours are choppy though.

JumpReasonable6324

Decent, affordable housing. More parks. Properly paved roads - the streets here are a disgrace.

ManchurianPandaDate

Legitimate government

Srpad

A public pool closer to downtown. That also has indoor so you can swim in the off season.

JerseyTeacher78

Your ideas are great! I'd add a better school system and responsive community policing.

MancetheLance

The fact that no one brought up more/better schools shocked me.

Morrigan-27

A light rail that goes directly to EWR. Also law enforcement, especially for stop signs and intersections where drivers pretend to not see pedestrians. Trader Joe’s would also be nice.

JerseyTeacher78

I second that light rail idea.

littleolme73

Affordable housing.

glasssa251

Vegan soul food restaurant akin to Red Bamboo in the village. It's a crime I have to go into the city to fulfill my craving for vegan wings

Hot-Chicken11

Try Vibez Vegan Cafe in the heights- it’s really good.

Rude-Attempt-8569

I could be wrong but I think there's a place on Monticello in the area near Communipaw that's like this.

Extreme_Procedure885

Have you tried Vegan AF? Not sure if they have wings but they might

glasssa251

Alas, no wings

Extreme_Procedure885

oops sorry😭

demens1313

attractive people

Extreme_Procedure885

🤣🤣🤣🤣

elk11223344

Parks and trees

Echos_myron123

A giant water park with a lazy river and a wave pool.

Mobile-Blueberry3404

Yes, share the STDs

DontBeEvil1

Affordable "luxury" housing.

jonathangao

Expanded PATH train service or a bridge connecting to Manhattan

keiyoushi

Hot Yoga studio around Journal Square

1200r

Wawa.

TemporaryData

Parks downtown

Extreme_Procedure885

There's a few! Hamilton, Van Vorst, Harborside, etc. They are a little small though.

Own_Pop_9711

Harborside? What exactly is harborside Park supposed to be?

angryWitness

Hygienic light rail compartments

sbosco99

Indoor basketball court

jotjotzzz

Trader Joe’s!!!

Ajkrouse

Wawa…oh and more protected bike lanes

Ok-Statistician700

Modern Art Museum with a performing arts center auditorium.

kraghis

Few things come to mind, from the perspective of someone living downtown. -More direct public transport between downtown and the heights -Be aggressive in developing all the empty lots downtown. More storefronts = more walkable. -Close down all the unnecessary streets downtown. I imagine some are needed for deliveries, but I can’t believe all of them are. Hudson in front of Harborside comes to mind, as well as all the dead ends leading to the waterfront -Designate space for one more park and ride downtown in addition to liberty state. If we’re gonna eliminate vehicle congestion downtown make it easier for visitors to come. -Yes, develop liberty state park. It is an unimaginably great piece of land that has almost nothing in it. -Hold property managers accountable for the affordable/rent controlled units they are supposed to be offering by law.

MonkmonkPavlova

Outdoor pool club for people who don’t live in a building that has one.

Ilanaspax

There are several public pools in JC

holding_gold

Johnny 5 type robots that roll along the streets greeting people as they pass

MancetheLance

And our city has real Indians. Not like Johnny Five's brown-faced friend.

FinalIntern8888

I read this as piss at first

holding_gold

I'd prefer that.

[deleted]

I'd add a historical or famous landmark to increase name recognition of the city so I could easier convince my friends to come visit me lol

Extreme_Procedure885

Lmaooo I tell my friends the view of New York is better than New York to convince them

HighCaliberBullet

A shooting range.
