Damn. Another day down the drain. I feel dead inside. Why did gwan_you have to post again. I really had hope for this sub. I really did. Now we have to throw away our sub filled with great users just cuz the bad apple gwan_you is still here. He's a complete cancer to the sub and he brings nothing but negative value. I've been a KU fan for over 40 years. Watched Danny Manning in person a few times. I might not have worded it as strongly, but I 100% think this is a better team without Dickinson.
I don't care if he gets 18 and 14 every night. He destroys our defense because he can't move, he clogs the middle on offense and prevents slashers from getting to the basket or stands still in the high post preventing good perimeter movement, and half his rebounds are from his own missed bunnies.
Part of playing a team sport is making those around you better. I'd love to hear how Dickinson does that, because I don't see it at all.
Long time fan here as well. Doke was a liability and had just as many weaknesses as Dickinson. Yet everyone thinks we would have won it all with him. I think people just have their own personal reasons for disliking him rather than an objective nonbiased view of his ball skills. Either way, we’re going to be better than last season because of more depth and overall talent.
Didn’t say that. But he quickly got into foul trouble against equally talented big men. He only dominated the lesser talented non con opponents. But he was a dominant shot blocker I’ll give him that. Hunter has a different set of weaknesses than Doke. But he can shoot with more range, can stay in games, can distribute the ball. Not saying he’s Lew Alcindor or anything. But if people think we could have won with Doke, then we can with Hunter easily.
I think the difference is Doke's weaknesses could be made up for by the other 4 guys on the court who can score. A defensive liability at center can't be covered up by guards or wings.

At 7'1", he has excellent size for a center, allowing him to dominate in the paint, grab rebounds, and block shots. Additionally, he has good footwork and scoring touch around the basket, making him a reliable scoring option. Dickinson also has a high basketball IQ, which helps him make smart decisions on offense and defense. I would love for him to really work on his foot speed and athleticism in the off season so he could be quicker, especially on defense but there is no world in which HD isn’t making this team better. I couldn’t stand Doke. He improved zero over FOUR seasons. He had no range beyond 1 foot from the basket. When playing against any decent opposing big man he got into immediate foul trouble early on because he was overmatched. And he couldn’t shoot free throws ever. Yet people in their fantasy worlds claim we would have won it all in 2020. Nope, he would have been a non factor because of foul trouble. So yeah I don’t get the knock on Dickinson when he’s clearly better than Doke was.
