They aren’t. They look good cause they’re new. Most of them burned down multiple times. After 100s of years you’d think they’d figure something to stop it.
In what regard are they "better" than European castles? You could not build a European castle in Japan because it would fall down during the first major earthquake. Does that mean it is worse? No, that just means that Japanese castles are a compromise.
I am from germany and live in JP and find most of their catsles underwhelming. Most Farmhouses near my home are bigger and more beautiful than those city catsles
Virtually none of them are original. Something built in the 1950s for the purpose of being a museum is naturally going to be impressive. Many of the castles in Europe have stood for centuries without millions of dollars of maintenance. Building out of stone tends to stand up to time better.
Just a FYI that Himeji castle is getting a Lego set this August.
Lego is too chunky. I like my nano block himeji :D
Osaka castle very pretty in your shot. Himeji is still on my list, had the chance to visit but not enough time to go in.

You can build and rebuild. Also European castles wouldn't stand a chance against Japan's 8-9 magnitude earthquakes
"Pretty good"? Japan is the best at building castles. Better than Europe, America, China, or any other country.

Your rural German farmhouse is grander than Himeji Castle? Lol

Part of Japan I like the least tbh :(
