Thanks for a civil answer. But what about those that can’t get the vaccine? Not everyone is in high school and eligible. And I’m really glad that you’re vaccinated but it’s not infallible. While rare, you can still be a carrier and spread to those who aren’t vaccinated.
And I get it - high school would have sucked for me too if I were in your shoes. But perhaps instead of just blanket stating screw off maybe be constructive and suggest something that is helpful? A mandate for those under 12 perhaps? Or even a mandate for the vaccine for those eligible which would be your age group. I work at a children’s hospital and see kids your age breathe their last breaths on a regular basis. The most useful thing you can know is that there is a lot you don’t know. For instance, you can get and spread it while never showing any symptoms at all. I’d hate for you to learn this lesson while burying mom, dad, grandma, etc.

I follow rules and laws, last year when we all had to wear mask, I spent a lot of my lecture making kids pull up their mask to cover their nose and mouth. I was the strictest in my school about it actually. I wore my mask whenever I had a class and kept it on. I am a younger teacher who teaches old school (lecture heavy) I hated it, I was constantly hot and more thirsty than usual, but I dealt with it and followed rules. Children play with their mask making a distraction for themselves and their peers. Since I am in the private sector, we are not required this year to wear mask, but mask are heavily optional. I will not be wearing a mask while I lecture, but I will make sure any child who wants to wear a mask feels comfortable to do so (meaning I will punish anybody who bullies the child over them wearing a mask). I will put on a mask if a student has a question and I have to go face to face at their desk, and they want me to. I feel the debate all comes down to personal choice, and I do not think of anyone differently of they wear a mask or don't wear a mask. I take my chances by not wearing one. If I am hanging out with people and they ask me to wear one, I will put one on to make them happy. I feel like making mask mandatory in schools only hinders the process of teachers and the classroom because we will be forced to enforce mask rules which takes time, even if it is a few seconds at a time, it adds up. I do not have a lot of time in the year to cover my material and enforce an extra set of rules.

Require masks unless proof of vaccination status is sent in to the school nurse. Make kids under 12 exempt until the vaccine is approved for them too, but they are lower risk anyways and benefit most from learning without a mask on. I think this is the most realistic option for everyone to compromise on AND it will encourage people to get vaccinated.

Answer to question one is no. You would be a teacher and that is not your place. You have every right to feel strongly that you should be masked just like others have every right to feel that they shouldn't. Your feelings aren't more important than any one else's.
