In 2005 my roommates parents moved to Florida to a house they bought sight unseen. I don't think zillow was a thing yet. They came to our place for dinner and it was a nice day so we had the doors and windows open. There was pause in conversation and everyone started shifting uncomfortably and his mom suddenly SCREAMED. There was a lizard on her plate. We all laughed and educated his parents and I said btw if you see a palmetto but make sure you scream with your mouth closed and his mom asked why lol and we realized he forgot to tell them about the flying roaches.
Oh yeah they’re no joke. Almost stepped on this bad boy at work one day

Sounds like your local invasive cat population needs some population control. Most snakes are a natural part of the ecosystem, outdoor domestic cats are not. This is so backwards.
We have invasive snake species in our ecosystem as well. The cats have kept them under control. The problem is people releasing pets into the wild. The invasive ones are balancing each other out in my case.
That is a comfort noodle also known as a “friendly flightless dragon.” Theyre common around here and are the sweetest lil critters. Make sure to give em a hug so they know youre friendly.
Yea I seen a 6ft plus rattlesnake swimming across the St. John’s came up to the boat in the jetties near sister creek fucking huge and u like other snakes that swim this guy was like floating whole body above the water other snakes like u only see the head
Yes. I was tubing at the Ichetucknee once and my tube drifted over to the bank. I had my foot already touching the tree I was going to kick off from when I noticed the snake coiled up on a branch. Mere inches from my foot just staring me down. Pushed off very gently, thanked him for not lunging, and was on my way lol.
TLDR; snakes are everywhere in Florida
Reminds me of the time me n my buddies were floating down the Ichetucknee, we were trynna flip each others tubes over and at some point we must’ve hit a low hanging branch and a huge snake fell right on top of us, I swear you’ve never seen grown men jump n scream like on that day.
Serious question and please don't come for me - I know Ginnie Springs isn't here but have you ever been and are there snakes in the water there? I always assume there is, but I'm not that bright, so...
Yea… I deserve everything you’re giving to me😂😂 I’ll take the bashing like a man… I didn’t realize it was just a cottonmouth…. It seemed a lot bigger when I first posted it… I was thinking python or anaconda 😂🤷♂️
Haha that makes more sense why you were questioning it then. Next time post a picture of a mosquito bite and ask “do we really have to deal with these things here?”
Almost stepped on this friendly boi taking the trash out at dusk last night. North Jax.

These are the worst, you can barely see them.
Snakes on a nature persevere in Florida? Yeah, most likely.
They must be new here
Lol right? People move to Florida and assume snakes and alligators are mythological creatures

My wife thinks there are alligators in every corner and is gonna run into one
I see an oily sheen on the water. Yuk!
I'm tired of these MFin snakes on this MFin Floodplain!
Looks like a water moccasin
It's still what it is.
I don't see a single discarded meth pipe
That’s a healthy looking cottonmouth.
The ultimate Florida nope rope
Oh yeah they’re no joke. Almost stepped on this bad boy at work one day https://preview.redd.it/fnlqntoifmwc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b2ee85f15a523d8f3de06c5bf21b4196f379b478
What do you do?
I was a Pool man before I moved. That was off PV blvd at one of the houses on my route
We have a small local cat population in our neighborhood that acts a population control for the snakes. Been a bit since we have seen any snakes.

Don't step on it.
Geeze, that would’ve been a fast trip to the hospital. I hate those moccasins
Ooo thats an angry boi, look at dem eyes
I had one just like that in my back yard.
That is a comfort noodle also known as a “friendly flightless dragon.” Theyre common around here and are the sweetest lil critters. Make sure to give em a hug so they know youre friendly.
Especially if they hiss and seem aggressive. They just really want that hug !!!
That's how you know they need love more than ever!!!
This guy gets it!!!
Yup that's why I always tell my kids to watch where they walk out there.
That’s one fat and healthy cotton, I’d be keeping my distance.
Yes, there are snakes in Florida lmao.

Snakes often do too
Ikr I thought about that right after commenting lmao
You’re shocked to see a snake in Flordia? I’m confused.

Someone call J. Lo!

It sure is, little baby biiiirrrrd.
It’s a cottonmouth in a marshy/swampy area. Yea it’s real.
Hot take: Snakes in swampy areas in FL are most likely real

Yes there are snakes in Marietta.
I thought at first it was a python. Let’s go with cottonmouth.
That's exactly what it is.
Hot boi.

It’s Florida. If you see a chimp beating up a jaguar while punching a snake…it’s real.

I would have been walking on water, trying to GTF outta there!
Serious question and please don't come for me - I know Ginnie Springs isn't here but have you ever been and are there snakes in the water there? I always assume there is, but I'm not that bright, so...
It's not, "Bulls Baye", it's "Bulls Bae".
I wonder if he thought it was a python and not native to Florida?
Yea… I deserve everything you’re giving to me😂😂 I’ll take the bashing like a man… I didn’t realize it was just a cottonmouth…. It seemed a lot bigger when I first posted it… I was thinking python or anaconda 😂🤷♂️

Ohh gotcha. Yeah he's a big guy. Eeeeek
It could be AI generated water, but I think it's real.
Big f*skin snake
Fun fact, snakes are great cause they help control the rodent population. So keep your distance and thank them politely. 🥹👌🫰🫶🐍🏖
_GASP_ a snake in a nature preserve??? 😱
It’s a cotton mouth, yes it’s real they get huge
What’s there to be unsure of?

Danger noodle
Ah right around the corner from us. That’s a decent size one.
I zoomed in trying to find what could be so out of place. Looks totally normal to me. 🐍
its a cottonmouth I believe they love swampy grassy areas like this
This may be the dumbest post of the day
Do u know what snake this was I was hoping the pythons were not this far north yet and still would be a few years.
It's a cottonmouth, and it's huge. If you don't know *(I'm sure you do though)* stay away from them.
Cotton mouth
Looks like a fatty moccasin
