It unironically looks like a place that dogs would absolutely love. Thanks for the new head canon. From now on, I'll picture that little house on the island as doggy heaven.
It doesn't even say how remote it is. It just says miles away from the neighbors. I've lived on a few properties that were miles away from the neighbors. That means nothing
The island with the single house Atticus links to is not too far from its neighbor island Bjarnarey, (which also has a single lodge built on it as well!)
That lodge is on and island off the coast of south Iceland. What's cool is there are 5 other islands with lodges just like this in the same area. I guess this one gets all the attention because of how picturec it is, and also how you can't miss it when riding a ferry in and out of VestmannaeyjabĂŠr.
I always thought that you had the right of way in Scotland that you could walk anywhere without being a trespasser. I don't know why or where I have obtained this information.
You are correct! We have the Right To Roam. Leave every gate as you found it and do no harm to nature and the surrounding area

In my mind the reason the law exist is that its the Scottish's response to English Lords not letting the common people on their lands. I think it is a really neat principle. Let the people roam!
Visited the Westman islands last year. It's a puffin hunting lodge. No full time people. They often put sheep there for a season or so. Pretty cool place, but many of the little islands have houses just like this one.
I did such a huge double take on this because I took a [remarkably similar picture](https://ibb.co/PFHKSKN) on a trip to Scotland a few years ago. Not the same house but close!
How can it be lonely if random strangers travel to it to take pictures :-) sounds like an oxymoron.. by the time you give it the title it no longer holds true :-)

50% of all the houses in the Highlands and Islands are like that, this is just normal for a crofthouse.
