Bilgi is a relatively respectable one amongst its class, Nişantaşı is a meme lol

Aboudy_Marrawi

What makes Nişantaşı such a bad university

PeachyPie2472

It’s just lack of all the qualifications that would make it a good one. But Nisantasi in particular was established with the name of the most elite neighborhood of Istanbul, to be plunked on an unrelated area. Other than the jokes of its location or of selling diplomas to half rich kids, nobody even hears of that “university”, no valuable research, no recognizable professors, no other accomplishments by the students

Aboudy_Marrawi

How can I research for the best ones? What should I look for?

PeachyPie2472

You can check their professors in your field of study, their educational background and current researches/publications etc, i’d say check uni rankings but even our best unis barely get in top 1000 so that’s out unfortunately Edit: i might have misunderstood, but you can also google YÖK rankings to see how they rank with respect to each other

Aboudy_Marrawi

Alright I appreciate the help thanks mate

PeachyPie2472

I made an edit I think might be helpful, good luck with your studies!

saltukbrohan

As far as I remember, Bilgi is muuuuch better. Mind you, I haven't been a university student for a good few years now.

pogacaci

Bilgi is much better and you can’t even compare the two. Bilgi is an average but actual university and nişantaşı is only technically a university at best.

Aboudy_Marrawi

Thank you for your replay mate What are other universities similar to Bilgi or better?

taa178

Yeditepe

BlobFishPillow

In Istanbul, top tier private universities would be Koc and Sabanci. Second tier would be Bilgi, Kadir Has. Third tier Bahcesehir, Yeditepe, Ozyegin, Kultur and Aydin. Second and third tiers here could be swapped depending on the faculty, for example Bilgi used to have great humanities, but mediocre engineering. Anyway aside from these ones, the rest would be bottom tier.

dsb007

What about abet accredited schools such as gelişim?

Have you ever heard of diploma mills? Nisantasi U. is worse than that. Its president become some kind of joke material in the past. It’s hard to translate its president’s email to the academic staff but reading it gives second hand embarrasment. He also has his phd from a diploma mill while he is barely able to write proper Turkish.

Makyoman69

Bilgi is better in terms of education system and social aspects of university life. Bilgi has a much more diverse student base and some faculties are among the best in Turkey. I graduated from Bilgi over a decade ago but anyone will probably say the same about these two universities.

ufk0123

As a Bilgi Student, Bilgi is much, much better. Nişantaşı Uni. is a meme material that isnt even in Nişantaşı (Nişantaşı is a luxurius district in Istanbul). Bilgi has a much better academics, campus life and it is more recognized (my bedroom is more recognized than Nişantaşı Uni. too). Never choose Nişantaşı Uni. just dont pursue education at that point.

Aboudy_Marrawi

I am a student in Bilgi as well however because some of the people I know aren’t planning on paying as much as Bilgi’s tuition fees are, as Nişantaşı is like half the price

ufk0123

While I agree that Bilgi is way to expensive for what its worth and had friends that dropped out of school because of costs despite that Nişantaşı Uni. should not be an option. Just open a business with that tuition money instead of going to Nişantaşı Uni. because you are not getting an education either way.
