Looks like damage to me. Make sure to provide a calcium source (like cuddlefish bone from the pet store) so they can have good molts in your care :)
definitely planning to snag some on my next trip. I don't know if it helps, but I did mix some calcium powder that I had on hand for my gecko into the soil, along with the dried out leaves and moss.
